Chapter 1277: Chapter 1347: On the Run
“At such a high price, it must at least be the princess of a small country.” In his shop, princesses from small countries were not unheard of.
“I guarantee she’s more valuable than a small country’s princess.”
“Stop bragging, I’ve heard the woman you brought this time is not bad. Are you interested in selling her to me?” The man, with a mouthful of blackened teeth from years of smoking and drinking, flashed a grin.
“Hehehe… Your information is quite up-to-date.”
“I heard she’s quite fiery, and a mysterious Eastern beauty.”
Julian didn’t expect that his carefully prepared merchandise was not in as high demand as Qin Cuifen. However, he wasn’t tired of her yet; when that happened, then he’d consider selling.
“How about I send her over in a while?” Julian asked, chuckling lecherously.
“Go on! Bring your mysterious Eastern princess in for me to see.”
“Alright!”
Julian happily went out to call them, but when he got outside, he couldn’t see them, and his face immediately darkened. He found two of his subordinates teasing a woman at the entrance of the restroom.
“What are you doing? Where’s the person?”
“In… in the restroom.”
“How long has she been in there?”
This question made the two of them visibly panic, “Half… more than half an hour.”
“Damn it.” Julian kicked both of them in a fit of rage and led the charge into the women’s restroom. There were still women inside; seeing men rush in, they screamed in terror.
“Ahhhh…”
“Shut up!”
Julian searched around inside and finally found an unconscious woman in the innermost stall, wearing Sheng Ning’s clothes.
“Damn bitch, bastard.” Julian was furious, stomping his feet, and he pulled a gun from his waist, “Go, come with me to chase her.”
“Y-yes…”
The two subordinates who lost the boss’s most valuable cargo knew they were in trouble and the three of them rushed out together.
Out of the nightclub, there was only one main road leading to bustling streets. Sheng Ning ran out from inside, desperately running; she couldn’t speak the language, knew no one in this foreign land, with nowhere to go.
“Embassy, embassy…” she muttered under her breath, fortunately finding a few tens of dollars in the pocket of the clothes she wore from the woman she knocked out.
Like a startled kitten, she ran straight out of the nightclub, flagged down a taxi, and told the driver her destination.
The driver, a heavyset white man, showed a perplexed expression but went ahead. With money to earn, he didn’t bother much and drove towards the destination.
Sitting in the backseat, Sheng Ning was filled with impatience, thinking about going home soon, her anxiety growing more intense.
After about half an hour, the driver stopped the car and said, “We’re here, it’s seven dollars and fifty cents in total.”
“Thank you!” She pulled the money from her pocket, and as the driver was giving her change and she was about to get out, her gaze inadvertently swept across a completely dark building, and suddenly, her heart turned cold.
Closed? Could it be closed?
How could she have forgotten? It was 1984, a time when the world was in turmoil, with frequent clashes between countries. This wasn’t decades later; she actually forgot.
“Huh?” The driver, seeing she hadn’t gotten out, urged impatiently.
“Okay, thank you!” Sheng Ning forced a weak smile, pushed open the car door, and had one foot on the ground. Suddenly, her sharp instincts kicked in, and she quickly closed the door and ducked down.
Then, a barrage of bullets rained down on the car, shattering the window glass as bullets whizzed past, grazing her scalp.
