Chapter 1384: Chapter 1454: Attending the Banquet

Back in China she’d never needed to put on makeup, to the point that Sheng Ning had almost forgotten that in her previous life, the thing she’d been best at was dolling herself up. Now that she was in Country M, she suddenly realized she still had this makeup skill.

“Hurry up, I’ll watch the kids.”

“Yes, yes.” Sheng Ning good‑naturedly grabbed her clothes and slipped into the bathroom.

There were quite a lot of people living here, so having a private changing room was absolutely impossible. Even having a small walk‑in closet was a luxury; she couldn’t bear to use it for herself and kept it for the kids’ special things instead.

Half an hour later, changing clothes plus full styling was all done.

When she came out, Aunt Feng, Gu Yunbo, and little Lin En all stared, dumbfounded.

“This is way too gorgeous. What on earth did Living Yama do in his last life to be able to marry such a stunning wife?” Gu Yunbo muttered to himself.

Aunt Feng opened her mouth and silently said something no one heard.

Little Lin En clapped excitedly. “Auntie so pretty, Auntie so pretty.”

The dress Housekeeper Xing had sent over was a pale rose color, and paired with the Emperor Green Ring on Sheng Ning’s hand, it made her look dazzlingly noble. The vintage cut set off Sheng Ning’s figure perfectly. Probably because she’d recovered well while young, her body now was exactly the same as before pregnancy.

“I really have to thank Aunt Feng for taking such good care of me.” Sheng Ning smiled and thanked her.

“Housekeeper Xing is already downstairs, let’s go down!” Aunt Feng said quickly.

“He’s already here?”

“Yes!”

“Then why didn’t you say so earlier? It’s not good to keep Housekeeper Xing waiting.”

“It’s fine, Housekeeper Xing said he’s willing to wait for a lady.”

Sheng Ning and Gu Yunbo exchanged a glance, then finally herded everyone downstairs. One person carrying kids, another hauling car seats—by the time they got downstairs, sure enough they saw Housekeeper Xing in an elegant tuxedo standing at the entrance.

.

Behind him was an extended RV, looking impressively imposing.

“You’ve waited long.”

Housekeeper Xing bent at the waist and bowed. “It’s my honor to serve a lady.”

“Shame this lady’s got a baby in her arms and can’t return the bow, but I still have to thank the gentleman for his service.”

Housekeeper Xing opened the car door. The RV’s interior was very spacious; it could fit several people at once, including strollers for the kids.

The two little babies were seeing something this novel for the first time, their big eyes rolling around, taking everything in.

Housekeeper Xing couldn’t help but smile when he saw them. “The children are really adorable.”

“Are you married, Housekeeper Xing?” Sheng Ning asked casually.

There was a dedicated driver at the wheel, and the rest of them were seated in the RV. The ride was quite a long one, so it was a good chance to ask a few more questions.

“Not yet.”

“My uncle too.” Sheng Ning thought of Su Hai. “He’s almost forty and still hasn’t gotten married.” No, in her previous life Su Hai hadn’t married either, and she’d never heard any gossip about him.

Weird! She wouldn’t have noticed if she hadn’t said it out loud. With Su Hai’s qualities, there was no way he couldn’t find someone.

“Your uncle must be busy with work.”

“Not at all!” Sheng Ning felt that Su Hai really hadn’t put much of his mind into work. With that kind of scheming, methods, and calculation, he didn’t need to work that hard to get better results than other people.

“Hahaha… hearing you say that, I’m all the more looking forward to meeting Mr. Su Hai.”

“Too bad he can’t go abroad.” Sheng Ning’s mood sank, and she didn’t speak for the rest of the ride. Aside from keeping an eye on the kids, she just stared off into space.

She really, really missed home! Other than Living Yama, she found herself missing Su Huili, and her eldest uncle. And her dad, her mom, and An’an—she wondered how they were doing now.
