Chapter 1493: Chapter 1568: Cecil
The doctor in the white coat shuddered and hurriedly said, “Boss, I have a way.”
“Why didn’t you use it earlier?” Keperta said impatiently.
“Because this method is really too risky. If it’s not handled well, people will die.”
“If they die, they die. You think I’m afraid of dead people?”
The doctor froze, suddenly realizing there was something wrong with his ingrained way of thinking. He hadn’t been a doctor for a long time; he’d already changed from saving people to killing people, so of course there would be risks—this was actually normal.
“Useless bastard.” Keperta was a smart man; one look at the doctor’s expression and he knew the man had delayed his plans. He stepped forward and kicked him, sending the doctor rolling three meters across the floor.
“If you dare delay my business again, I’ll take your life.”
“Yes, yes… I’ll never dare again.”
“Still not getting out of my sight? If you can’t control Qin Yue, I’ll kill you.”
“I’ll go right away.”
The doctor shrank back and withdrew. Keperta stared at the closed door and called out in a chilling voice, “Still not coming in? How long do you plan to stand out there?”
“I wanted to give you a surprise.” A woman’s sultry voice came from outside the door. The door was pushed open, and a voluptuous, blond, blue-eyed woman stood in the doorway, oozing allure.
She threw Keperta a flirtatious look and giggled. “What’s wrong? In a bad mood?”
“Cecil, cut it out.” Keperta’s expression eased a little as soon as he saw it was her.
Cecil nestled against Keperta’s shoulder and said coyly, “Brother, I think that Qin Yue is really something. Do you really want the Doctor to destroy him?”
Keperta’s gaze suddenly turned icy; when he looked at his sister, it was like he was looking at some mortal enemy.
“What kind of scheme are you cooking up?”
“Nothing, I just want to help you. I might actually be able to help.”
“I heard his status on the mainland is very high. If he really ends up a cripple or a machine, he’ll actually be less valuable than before.”
Keperta asked coldly, “So what useful information did you dig up?”
“About Qin Yue.”
“Oh?” He sounded interested.
“You grabbed him mainly to use him against Living Yama, so you can hit the enemy where it hurts most and cause deeper pain. But Qin Yue’s value doesn’t stop there. His title might not be as high as Living Yama’s, but his position is definitely higher.”
Keperta had always known his little sister had plenty of tricks; he hadn’t expected her intel to be this extensive too.
“So it seems I should keep him alive?”
Cecil confidently flipped her silky hair. “Why don’t you hand Qin Yue over to me? I guarantee I’ll make him obedient.”
Keperta’s lips curved in an ambiguous smile. “All right then, I’ll give you a chance.”
“Thanks, brother.” Cecil left in high spirits.
The place where Qin Yue was being held was the room next door. It had originally been a presidential suite, but now it had been converted into a makeshift prison. Qin Yue wasn’t the only one locked up inside; besides him there were quite a few others. Many of them had already been tortured to death one after another, and corpses were being dumped almost every night.
So far, besides Qin Yue, only four were still alive.
He was locked in the innermost steel cage, about two meters high and one meter wide, forged from hardened steel; getting out was damn near impossible. Qin Yue was half sitting on the floor, his whole body caked in blood, head hanging low, looking like he was on his last breath.
If An’an saw him now, she would probably feel so heartbroken she’d cry.
His eyes were half closed, and all he could think about was An’an.
