She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 971 - 1025: Getting What They Deserve

Chapter 971: Chapter 1025: Getting What They Deserve

Sheng Laosan had been through the wartime blockade; his courage was not something the average person could compare to. Even though he was now old and his leg was crippled, he wouldn’t even blink if a hand were to fall right in front of him.

Originally, everyone thought Shen Luhua would be scared, but unexpectedly, the gentle and honest wife went up and stomped on him twice.

Sun Gan noticed this, nodded secretly, and then calmly tucked the gun into his belt. The task was completed; he could report back.

The people from the prosecutor’s office and the police station were staring wide-eyed in fear and disbelief.

"What are you standing there for? Arrest him and send him to the hospital!" Sun Gan said unhappily, "In the future, if you encounter anyone attacking the police or resisting arrest, just shoot them."

The word "shoot" was spoken with a powerful impact, indicating he could really do it.

"Yes..."

The police acted together and drove everyone around away.

"Luhua, let’s go! Don’t be frightened," Sheng Laosan said quietly, aware of something unusual with his wife but still choosing to be considerate and not mention it.

"Mm! Let’s go!" Shen Luhua didn’t recognize Sun Gan and was curious about why Mayor Liu suddenly had such bad luck, but couldn’t immediately figure out who was behind it.

The group helped each other and went out, just as a large crowd of people was coming in. Standing among dozens of people gathered out of curiosity, Shen Luhua’s eyes widened suddenly, her pupils shrinking to needle points.

Brother-in-law, it was actually brother-in-law.

Why did he come? How could he be at a place like this?

Could he be looking for her? No... he must be here for Bao’er; he knows Bao’er isn’t dead. It must have been Dong Shuhua who told him, as only Dong Shuhua knew about this back then.

That damn Dong Shuhua, she promised not to tell anyone, so why did she betray that promise?

Shen Luhua, being short, wasn’t conspicuous in the crowd. When she saw Hai Yunfeng had actually come, she instinctively hid behind Sheng Laosan and followed the crowd past the roadside.

Once they reached the other side of the road, Shen Luhua couldn’t help but look back, lost in thought as she watched Hai Yunfeng’s silhouette. Brother-in-law remained almost the same as fifteen years ago, nearly unchanged. Yet, she was no longer the Shen family’s heiress she used to be, just an ordinary, impoverished rural woman now.

In fifteen years, much had changed; she was afraid that even if she stood right in front of him, he might not recognize her.

The crowd dispersed, and a cordon was erected outside. Ji Lihua, following beside Hai Yunfeng, was almost inside when he suddenly stopped.

"What’s wrong?"

"Just a moment ago, a woman was staring at you."

"Really?" Hai Yunfeng turned back; outside the cordon, there was no one. "Do you know her?"

"No!" Ji Lihua shook his head. He had just instinctively felt a woman looking at him. But since she wasn’t looking at him directly, the feeling wasn’t very clear.

"Maybe I was mistaken," Ji Lihua said.

Hai Yunfeng didn’t give it much thought, assuming Sun Gan had seen him coming, and immediately approached.

"Leader, wh-why are you here?" Sun Gan didn’t expect to be caught by him while handling a rare task.

"What have you done? How can you just shoot randomly?" Hai Yunfeng frowned in disgust at the blood on the ground and the half of a hand being picked up.

"Who gave you that privilege?"

Sun Gan signaled the others to keep busy with their tasks, then, under a locust tree, explained to Hai Yunfeng and the group with him, "Leader, let me explain. Mayor Liu’s crimes are all real; I didn’t fabricate any of it.
