Part 8
“Now―let’s dance!”
He formed a ferocious smile like a beast and continued to run toward the thousands, tens, and hundreds of thousands without fear. Even after all his allies had fled, Hiro rushed toward the army of “monsters,” stepping on the numerous corpses sinking into the ground.
“Let me show you despair.”
He flashed a flash of light as he came within a stone’s throw of the ogre. With a light swing, the blade, filled with extraordinary power, sliced out the ogre’s bulging belly. The surrounding “monsters” were also slaughtered with blinding speed, leaving sword marks in every direction. Drops of blood blossomed into flowers in the sky, and countless heads hit the ground with an eerie sound. The instinct that came with being a living creature―”monster” was no exception, and the moment they encountered Hiro, they turned their backs and ran away from the battlefield in fear.
“Don’t run. I can’t kill you.”
As Hiro swings his arm to the side, countless cracks appear behind him. A large number of sword hilts flew out of the cracks. A silver-white light emanated from the Heavenly Emperor, and then Hiro’s figure disappeared.
The sound of ripping air was heard, gradually growing louder and more deafening. Countless summoned spirit weapons disappear, one by one, three by three, eight by eight, at a terrifying speed. Pieces of the monsters’ mutilated flesh scattered all around, and the white flashes of light flashing around the world flickered violently and accelerated.
Hundreds of lights and thousands of sparkles were born, and tens of thousands of stars fell to the ground.
The “divine speed,” a privilege granted only to those who possessed the Heavenly Emperor, consumed the monsters.
――Divine Light of Lightning.
The fierce slashes from the ultra-high speed killed the “monsters” in an instant as if to prove that numbers were meaningless. The ogre’s head was smashed in, the head was severed, and with overwhelming, unrelenting, and deadly precision, Hiro plunged the “monsters” into the depths of terror. When Hiro reappeared, the “monsters” were terrified and only surrounded him but stopped moving.
But then, as if cutting through the gap, they kicked the ground――,
“A species of barbarians without intelligence―the flesh-eaters, huh?”
The creature made a screeching sound and attacked with ape-like agility.
They were less intelligent than ogres, but their fighting power was superior to that of ogres. Even when slashed, their wounds heal with their regenerative abilities. The flesh-eaters used their amazing vitality to block Hiro’s movements. Hugging his ankles, riding his back, and biting his arms, they pounced on Hiro’s body like a lion on its prey. But when Hiro turned his hips, the hem of his Black Princess Camellia shook violently, forming a spear-like shape and sending the flesh-eaters flying.
However, Hiro’s movement stopped, and he took advantage of this momentary opening,
――However, in that split second, the Creation of Heaven and Earth flew in.
“!?”
The feeling of his chest being pierced through the Black Princess Camellia made him feel nauseous, and he splashed blood on the ground. When Hiro turned around, he saw the “Creation of Heaven and Earth” that had pierced the ground and sank into it, raising a cloud of dust.
“…..Faceless King, huh?”
Due to the ability of the “Majin,” the wound immediately began to heal, but it healed slowly, perhaps because it was not an ordinary wound. Seeing Hiro in such a state of disarray, the “monsters” around him thrust out their spears. At the moment he was impaled, his feet floated in the air, and he saw the sky. Hiro gritted his teeth as he grabbed the blade of the spear that pierced his back and stomach.
“…..You’re in the way!”
After snapping the spear, Hiro knelt on the ground and glared at the monsters.
The monsters were so pressured by the unusual murderous intent that they retreated.
“You―do you know despair?”
The sky was in turmoil, clouds were rolling in, the ground was shaking, and cracks were erupting on the ground like screams.
“Weep for pessimism, shed tears for disappointment, enjoy despair!”
Unable to withstand the immense onslaught of power, the air distorted, the space cracked, and despair spread through the cracks. As silence descended upon the world, all sound faded, and every heartbeat disappeared. When reverence was manifested in the world, the colors of the world were painted black.
“My name is―the Black Dragon King.”
The intimidated monster’s brain fluid splattered. One by one, the monsters collapsed under mysterious pressure.
There was no way to escape the tyrannical pressure.
As all were invited into the darkness, Hiro held the Dark Emperor horizontally.
“This is the one who invites all life equally into the void.”
――Death and Fear.
Time stood still, and all living things stopped beating their hearts and fell into death, forgetting time.
The grass withered, the flower fell, the ground rotted, and the sky fell.
“Now fall into the abyss of despair.”
――Dark Mirror Corpse Water.
A jet-black dragon opened its jaws and fell into the world as if to spit out a curse.
As water erupted upon hitting the ground, it covered the entire area, entangling the monsters’ legs and dragging them into the void.
When the light returned to the world, Hiro’s vision was filled with――,
――A large number of monsters.
Hiro smiles bitterly. If it were a human opponent, they would have been crushed by his earlier attack, but unfortunately, the monsters did not seem to be running away.
Even so, Hiro was still running at full speed―he couldn’t stop to get to the place where the desired object was located.
He slayed the monsters that stood in his way and moved forward, and he cut down the flesh-eaters that jumped at him and moved forward.
Even when arrows were fired, Hiro continued on a single path. Even when he aas stabbed in the chest with a sword, he did not stop. He was willing to die to get to the place he was going.
(Rei… for the days since I lost you…)
Cold and dark, his heart was dead, and he felt nothing.
He tried to swim, but the lead strapped to his limbs was too heavy, and he sank alive.
Somewhere along the way, he forgot to fight, stopped the struggle, and stayed submerged in the depths of the sea.
But then――,
(I met a girl who was exactly like you.)
Once again, his heart was set on fire.
(Atonement.)
Without him, this world would never have been created.
The Red-Haired Princess would not have been lured into a sad fate.
Therefore, he was determined not to fail next time.
He decided to let her live her life the way she wanted to.
(Liz is the only hope I have left for you).
He didn’t care what happened to him as long as he could protect her.
He would give his ugly life if it atoned for his sins and if it would keep hope alive.
Even if death awaited him, he had no fear.
There was only the fear of losing her again.
If only she could live happily――,
“I will…”
――kill the world.
There was no way back, no way forward, no way to live.
“…Finally, I can fulfill my promise.”
After passing through the encirclement of monsters, Hiro walked out into the open, dragging one leg.
The man standing in front of him smiled with joy and opened his arms to greet him.
“It’s wonderful… really wonderful. You can reach me!”
In the midst of his eyes, Hiro stretches out his wristless arms. Finally, he felt as if he could reach them.
But an arrow through the knee and a spear through the shoulder brought him to his knees.
“You are such a miserable figure because you will not give up your trivial bonds. If you had abandoned the inferior species, you could have retreated.”
“It is strange to overturn the rules… was it to lure me from the beginning?”
“It took a long time to connect the two… but you always cared too much for your friends. Therefore, you, who cannot overturn the rules, have no choice but to come to me like this.”
Grasping Hiro’s dazed face with both hands, the Faceless King brought his face close enough to almost touch the tip of his nose.
“But now I have it. My ‘vessel’ is finally in my hands.”
The Faceless King laughed with tears of blood, though his voice sounded pleased with himself. He gritted his back teeth as if enduring humiliation, looking into Hiro’s “eyes” to “see” who he was.
“Now only the Spirit King remains.”
Hiro was grabbed by the throat and forced to the ground.
The Death Immortal was in the hands of the Faceless King. The red blade glowed with the desire for new blood.
“O Black Dragon King, be my food!”
The moment he had been waiting for, there was no hesitation at all, and the Faceless King swung his blade down without mercy.
Unable to resist, Hiro looked at his blood-red hands and smiled.
“The sun will rise soon.”
Everything was his punishment; everything was the result of the sins he created.
The boy closed his eyes, having achieved the ultimate satisfaction with a vague expression of happiness or unhappiness, satisfaction or dissatisfaction. The answer was soon revealed.
“Give me back my Hiro.”
As the beautiful voice sounded like a bell――,
――A red flower bloomed in the world.
Epilogue
In a chaotic world, a hell where everything burned, a single crimson flower shone beautifully.
Red, vermilion, and crimson, the single-color world was engulfed in red flames.
In a world of intense heat waves, the red-haired princess stood with a calm expression on her face.
Protecting a boy at her back, she glared at the man who was her enemy and exploded her unchanging thoughts.
“This time――”
Two years ago, she was inexperienced and helpless, unable to help him on his way to ruin.
There were times when she could have reached out and touched him.
But he had disappeared before her eyes.
From that point on, she spent many days groping in the darkness, searching for him.
It took her a long time but――,
“But this time, I made it.”
She had run as fast as she could, chasing an invisible back, walking on a road with no clear path ahead.
But she finally made it.
She was now close enough to face him directly.
So she would say it strongly.
She would embrace him so that he would not be afraid.
There was no more need to cry.
There was no more need to be hurt.
There was no more need to be alone.
To tell him that she was here with him with all her heart.
This time she would protect the person she cared about――,
“From now on――”
The woman, who was said to be the second coming of the first emperor, raised a sword the same color as her hair and pointed the tip at the Faceless King.
“――I will be your opponent.”
