Shrouding the Heavens

Chapter 535: Chapter 540: Small World

Chapter 535: Chapter 540: Small World

There was a minor mistake with a name. At the end of chapter 538, Xu Chengkun should be Wang Zheng.

——————————

“He’s dead. A living fossil has fallen. He dominated the Eastern Wastelands for three thousand years, yet met such a quiet end.”

“A legendary figure, who once rampaged through the Eastern Wastelands, feared by all, yet he faced such a fate as he neared his final moments.”

Many lamented. A peerless great figure, having shone throughout his life, dying suddenly in old age—it was undoubtedly a sorrow.

No matter how great a hero one might be, all must return to dust. Yet, to depart in such a manner ultimately felt regrettable.

“Senior Brother…” the Flickering Light Sacred Master grieved, overwhelmed with anger. Holy Light soared from him, one hundred and eight Divine Rings eclipsing the sun.

“Sacred Master, please restrain your grief,” the Flickering Light Saint Heir stepped forward, offering a profound bow as he advised.

When the Flickering Light Sacred Master, Li Daoqing, saw him, a flash of light sparked in his dim eyes. He said, “In the future, you must slay Daoist Red Dragon.”

“In this world, regardless of right or wrong, the deceased always evoke sympathy and reflection. You had little lifespan left, yet you sought to drag me down with you. I cannot pity you for that.”

Daoist Red Dragon’s expression was calm, even slightly indifferent. He stared at the shattered bloodstains, then coughed up more fresh blood.

Combat between terrifying figures at the living fossil level wasn’t always intensely fierce, but a single move could decide life and death, making it all the more perilous.

Daoist Red Dragon had also suffered heavy injuries in the life-and-death duel; his physical form had nearly cracked open, but it hadn’t damaged his foundation.

He drank a mouthful of Divine Spring. His entire body became wreathed in crimson radiance; his wounds stopped bleeding, broken bones regenerated, and his Yuan Qi recovered swiftly.

He stood in the ancient battlefield, his archaic Daoist robe flapping in the wind. This made every opponent extremely wary; none dared to step forward for the time being.

Daoist Red Dragon was too frightening. His peerless demonic might subdued the assembled experts. No one dared to step forward haphazardly, for a single strike from this living fossil would undoubtedly destroy both their physical form and spirit.

“Heh heh…” The supreme old Sect Hierarch of the Yin Yang Sect gave a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. Looking towards the martial arts field, he said, “Daoist Red Dragon, you truly are imposing. But for a mere youth, was it worth making such a move?”

At this point, everyone knew Ye Fan’s situation was merely a pretext. Both sides had been harboring resentment for a long time, and it just happened to erupt now.

“Wang Yangzhan, if you’re not satisfied, feel free to enter the arena and fight,” Daoist Red Dragon said, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.

“Daoist Red Dragon, do you truly believe you are unbeatable under the heavens? Preying on the weak will inevitably lead to your own destruction.” The old Sect Hierarch of the Yin Yang Sect glanced faintly at Ye Fan, then fixed his gaze on Daoist Red Dragon. “This boy plotted against heroes and should be executed here. Do you wish to protect him and make an enemy of the world?”

“Can you represent the world?” A faint, cold smile touched the corner of Daoist Red Dragon’s mouth. “If you’re unsatisfied, then come in. We’ll fight to the death!”

The supreme old Sect Hierarch of the Yin Yang Sect laughed coldly. “Alright then. Let me test your ‘unbeatable’ skills.”

He strode forward at a leisurely pace and entered the martial arts field. A Yin Yang Diagram rotated behind him, making him appear profoundly unfathomable.

The crowd was stunned. Yet another living fossil had taken action! This old Sect Hierarch from the Central States was immensely famous. He was over three thousand years old, yet he too was nearing his end.

“Wang Yangzhan, you haven’t changed a bit,” Daoist Crow said, stepping into the ancient battlefield. “Are you seeking to take Brother Red Dragon’s life while he’s heavily injured?”

“He himself asked me to make a move!” Wang Yangzhan replied with a faint smile, turning to face Daoist Crow.

“Brother Red Dragon, go and rest. You need to recuperate after your deadly battle with Wang Zheng. Let me fight him,” Daoist Crow said.

“Crow, what is the meaning of this? I agreed to a life-and-death battle with Daoist Red Dragon. Why are you meddling?” Wang Yangzhan demanded, his face darkening.

“Hmph, I find *you* unpleasant, Wang Yangzhan! How about I annihilate you?!” Daoist Crow declared arrogantly. He wore a violet-gold crown, and his Black Feather Daoist Robe shimmered with an eerie radiance.

Outside the ancient battlefield, the crowd was astounded. This peerless demon was truly domineering, speaking without restraint—truly worthy of being a living fossil who could rampage through the Eastern Wastelands.

“Let me handle this,” Daoist Red Dragon said.

“No! I simply can’t stand the sight of him. I *must* fight him,” Daoist Crow insisted.

Daoist Red Dragon laughed heartily and said no more. He turned to leave, vanishing from the martial arts field in a few flickers.

The supreme Sect Hierarch of the Yin Yang Sect’s expression was uncertain. He transmitted his voice, “Daoist Red Dragon, I wished to settle our grievances, yet you retreat. What is the meaning of this?”

“Settle your grievances with Crow first. Wait until I’ve fully recovered, and then I’ll fight you,” Daoist Red Dragon replied, completely unconcerned.

Outside the martial arts field, the crowd watched attentively. Now, two more living fossils were confronting each other. This pivotal battle continuously stirred anticipation among the onlookers.

“Wang Yangzhan, I heard that your Yin Yang Sect’s Saint Heir and Sacred Lady were both slain. Is it true?” Daoist Crow said, deliberately touching a sore spot.

Wang Yangzhan snorted coldly but did not respond, his eyes filled with an icy indifference.

“And a few days ago, your chosen successor, the Vice Sect Hierarch of the Yin Yang Sect, perished in the Dragon Nest. That much should be true, right?” Daoist Crow mocked.

“You talk too much, Crow!” the old Sect Hierarch of the Yin Yang Sect said coldly.

“Am I talking too much? I was just casually asking. Your judgment is truly terrible. All your chosen successors are dead. You’re quite unqualified as a Sect Hierarch,” Daoist Crow laughed.

“Enough nonsense! Let me see how much your cultivation base has progressed in the past thousand-odd years!” Wang Yangzhan shouted coldly. An Ancient Mirror appeared above his head.

“A divine artifact left by an Ancient Saint—the Yin Yang Mirror!” someone exclaimed.

“No, that Ancient Mirror is their sect’s ultimate treasure, their Treasure of the Sect; it’s impossible for him to carry the original around. This must be a replica, but it’s still immensely powerful,” someone else discerningly pointed out.

“DONG!”

Above Daoist Crow’s head, a Treasure Bell emerged. It was crystal clear, like flawless white Beautiful Jade, emitting a gentle, melodious chime.

“This is Rare Divine Iron! Just adding a small amount is enough for Saint Master Level weapons, yet this entire bell is forged from this divine material!” the crowd exclaimed in shock.

“Let’s not waste our remaining life force. We shall decide life and death with a single strike,” Daoist Crow chuckled, secretly gulping down several mouthfuls of Divine Spring.

Wang Yangzhan nodded indifferently, but he too secretly swallowed three sacred medicines, each containing Life Qi as vast as an ocean.

The Yin Yang Ancient Mirror, blood-red on its face and inky black on its back, flowed with Yin Yang Qi as it hovered above his head.

“BOOM!”

Both attacked simultaneously. The face of the Yin Yang Mirror shot out a crimson radiance, painting the entire ancient battlefield red, with strands of Chaos Fog Silk swirling within.

“This mirror is truly terrifying! It’s like it could split heaven and earth!”

The crowd exclaimed as the Yin Yang Mirror manifested a small, blood-red world. It was chaotic and hazy, intending to trap Daoist Crow inside and refine him into bloody pus.

“DOOONG…”

A resonant bell toll echoed through Jade Lake. The alabaster Treasure Bell emitted tsunami-like sound waves, powerful enough to make heaven collapse and the earth crumble, threatening to destroy everything.

This was an intense collision. The crimson glow and the Bell Waves resonated together, emitting an aura capable of splitting heaven and earth, causing every observer to gasp in awe and suck in a cold breath.

“PFFT! PFFT!”

Both living fossils spat out large mouthfuls of blood. A crack appeared between their eyebrows; they had nearly been split apart by each other’s attacks and were both severely wounded.

“BANG!”

Daoist Crow escaped from that small, blood-red world, avoiding being trapped inside. The Yin Yang Sect Hierarch retreated ten thousand zhang, not turned to dust by the Bell Wave.

After that life-or-death exchange, both vanished into thin air, traversing the void before attacking again without any warning.

“SWOOSH!”

The back of the Yin Yang Ancient Mirror, as black as ink, opened up to reveal an Abyss. Waves of deadly power surged from it towards Daoist Crow.

“DONG!”

The pristine Treasure Bell descended like a pagoda, intending to draw in the Yin Yang Sect Hierarch. Its surface was engraved with innumerable spells, flickering with a blinding brilliance.

“BOOM!”

The two forces collided with the power of a torrential deluge. The Ancient Mirror was sent flying, and the Treasure Bell dimmed. It was another stalemate; both combatants spat out large mouthfuls of blood.

“Both these living fossils claimed it would be a single strike to decide life and death, yet their Blood Qi is so vigorous! Even after exhausting themselves, they still have the strength to continue fighting!”

“CLANG!”

With a violent shock, the Ancient Mirror merged with the Yin Yang Diagram manifested by Wang Yangzhan, becoming a tangible manifestation of the Dao and transforming into a Yin Yang World!

“The Yin Yang Life and Death Reincarnation Realm!” Numerous Saint Master-level figures felt a chill in their hearts. This old Sect Hierarch was too dreadful; he was displaying legendary techniques!

“CAW!”

Daoist Crow let out a sharp caw. Golden light burst from between his eyebrows, and astoundingly, a Three-legged Golden Crow rushed out, merging with the Divine Bell!

Upon the bell, tens of thousands of spells appeared, each ancient character seemingly coming to life, presenting a world within the Divine Bell.

One could clearly see giants roaming an ancient land, barbaric dragons emerging, and the Three-legged Golden Crow streaking across the sky—a scene of incomparable might.

“BOOM!”

The Divine Bell rang out. The Ancient Desolation world contained within it trembled, and ten Golden Crows soared across the sky, wreaking havoc in the vast Great World.

Violent collisions ensued! The Barbaric World contained within the Divine Bell fiercely countered the power of the Dao manifested by the Yin Yang Mirror!

An eternal radiance engulfed the ancient battlefield. The Ancient Desolation world and the Yin Yang Life and Death Reincarnation Realm began to swallow each other.

Endless black holes merged into one, and shattered Dao Seals littered the void. Everything between the two living fossils ceased to exist.

The crowd was horrified. Such a duel was truly terrifying; even a Saint Master-level expert entering that fray would face certain death, their body turned into meat paste.

“So these are living fossils! Although they are nearing their end, in these final moments, they can still look down upon the entire Eastern Wastelands, virtually unmatched!”

“THUD!”

The Yin Yang Sect Hierarch was flung out, his hair disheveled and his body covered in blood. He was nearly shattered, with stark white bone protruding in many places.

“THUD!”

On the other side, Daoist Crow fared no better. Black feathers scattered in the sky as he fell, his body riddled with cracks and stained with blood.

“Gentlemen, let this end in a draw. There’s no need to fight on,” the Queen Mother of the West spoke.

Daoist Red Dragon, the Green Flood Dragon King, and members of the Yin Yang Sect rushed into the martial arts field. They each moved to protect one of the living fossils, separating the two combatants.

“Alright, a draw it is!” The Yin Yang Sect Hierarch nodded.

Daoist Crow took a large gulp of Divine Spring and shamelessly declared, “I haven’t had enough fighting yet!”

A rich fragrance spread out. Everyone smelled it and knew it was the Treasure Liquid. They were all rendered speechless.

“HUMPH!”

The Yin Yang Sect Hierarch snorted coldly in anger and strode out of the battlefield.

“Wang Yangzhan, are you afraid now? I feel like I could go another three hundred rounds! Let’s have another match!” Daoist Crow called out confidently.

At this point, the battle had come to a close; it could not continue.

Everyone withdrew from the ancient battlefield. The crowd fell into a momentary silence. Several living fossils had successively made their moves; who else would dare to enter now?

Ye Fan’s heart skipped a beat. Daoist Red Dragon and Daoist Crow are both injured, but it seems there are still one or two living fossils among the Sacred Lands! However, I’m not too worried. If pushed, I’ll just summon an Ancient Saint. Worst case scenario, I’ll tear the heavens apart!

At this moment, the Green Flood Dragon King, one of the Thirteen Great Bandits, stepped forward. He said nothing, merely holding a jar and glaring at the crowd.

Many felt the urge to curse. That was Tu Tian’s Heaven-devouring Demon Jar, which the Green Flood Dragon King had borrowed. Holding such an artifact, who would dare to provoke him?

“Let it end here. Everyone present is a hero of this age. If any more were to fall, it would be a loss for the entire Eastern Wastelands,” the Queen Mother of the West mediated.

By now, few were willing to continue fighting. They were wary of each other; the half-piece Extreme Dao Holy Weapon and the presence of living fossil-level beings were all unpredictable factors.

Of course, what caused even more apprehension was Yan Ruyu’s presence. If the Green Emperor’s Holy Weapon were to be summoned, it would be a truly catastrophic disaster.

“Then let’s execute this brat,” the Yin Yang Sect Hierarch suggested, referring to Ye Fan.

“Execute your mother’s head!” Ye Fan had long found this old fellow an eyesore. He swore crudely for the first time, looking over provocatively.

“You…!” The people of the Yin Yang Sect were infuriated and began to press forward.

“Reporting to the Queen Mother…” A dozen beautiful women from Jade Lake flew over from the Pure Land, arriving outside the martial arts field amidst the clouds.

“What has happened?” the Queen Mother of the West asked calmly.

“A primordial creature has come to visit!” a woman in white announced, delivering this earth-shattering news.

“What?!” Everyone exclaimed, utterly shocked.

“Judging by its appearance, it is undoubtedly a primordial creature. It claims to come from the Taichu Forbidden Area and wishes to enter Jade Lake,” the female disciple replied.

No one could remain calm. A clamor arose; everyone was deeply unsettled.

End of chapter two, take a bath, then strive for chapter three.
