Chapter 848: Scam Artists are Not Cute! (16)

“Of course, can’t you see?”

‘See what? All I can see are several men piled up like a mountain.’

“Officer, I’m reporting, I’m reporting…” The kidnapper on top suddenly shouted. “She’s got a weapon, a sword, it’s in her car.”

Shi Sheng gave the kidnapper a chilling glance, her eyes curving into a smile. “I see a dark cloud over your forehead, a sign of imminent bloodshed!”

The kidnapper was utterly baffled: “…”

“Miss Bu, no intimidating suspects,” Captain Hong reprimanded.

“Honestly, how am I intimidating him?” ‘Just saying a few words counts as intimidation?’

Captain Hong ordered his team to cuff the kidnappers and pointed to the car the kidnapper had indicated. “Search it.”

Shi Sheng stood nonchalantly as the officers thoroughly searched her car inside and out, finding no weapon.

The kidnappers were even more confused. ‘We clearly saw her put the sword in the car, so how could it not be there?’

“I’m telling you, Officer, she threatened to kill us. Check again, maybe there’s a hidden compartment.”

Captain Hong personally inspected the car but found nothing.

He glared at the kidnappers. “Take them away.”

Captain Hong then looked at Shi Sheng’s car and scrutinized her. “Miss Bu, do you have a driver’s license?”

“Nope.”

Captain Hong’s smile turned oddly triumphant. “Miss Bu, seems like you’ll need to call your guardian.”

“Why?”

“For driving without a license.” ‘Finally, I have something on this troublesome girl; I always feel like she’s playing me.’

Shi Sheng blinked innocently. “But… I wasn’t driving.”

She hadn’t driven the car onto the road, so who could accuse her of driving without a license?

Captain Hong had overlooked that detail, glaring at Shi Sheng in frustration. “Miss Bu, please come with us!”

As the complainant, she had to go to the station to give a statement.

Shi Sheng, having entered the station for the third time, greeted everyone with, “I see a dark cloud over your forehead, you’re in for some bloodshed soon.”

The officers: “…”

‘Where did they find this superstitious girl who dares to flaunt her tricks in front of the police?’

Most of the officers were upright individuals. Even those with minor flaws were hardly affected by her ominous words.

“Ah!” a female officer yelped, frantically blowing on her pinched fingers.

Well, at most, they’d end up like her, with fingers caught in a door.

After taking Shi Sheng’s statement, they left her in the interrogation room alone.

Shi Sheng rubbed her slightly aching head. Using her mystic words often drained her energy, but she noticed the more she used it, the more she could use it next time.

So she practiced whenever she could.

‘Maybe, one day, I’ll reach a level where a single word could bring about the end of the world?’

【…】'The host is daydreaming again. Such a bug would never exist.

Outside the interrogation room, Captain Hong watched the cute girl on the monitor with a grave expression.

“Captain Hong, this girl is really strange. Ever since she said those words, people outside have been getting unlucky. The worst hit was Xiao Wang from the investigation team; he just got hit by a passing motorcycle.”

The whole station had been in chaos since she arrived.

“Have those kidnappers confessed?”

“Still questioning them, but it looks like it’ll be as she said—they were planning to kidnap her but ended up getting caught instead, not knowing how formidable she was.”

The results of the kidnappers’ interrogation were beyond the police’s expectations. These men had been involved in numerous kidnappings before, profiting from their crimes and even committing murder.

This was no longer just an attempted kidnapping; it was a homicide case.

Shi Sheng’s earlier prediction that they would spend decades in prison was now certain.

Shi Sheng was released close to midnight. Despite Captain Hong’s dislike for this girl who seemed to attract trouble wherever she went, his years of police service compelled him to have her escorted home.

Shi Sheng returned home to find the house shrouded in darkness. She didn’t bother turning on the lights and headed straight to the bedroom.

She was exhausted and needed to sleep to replenish her energy.

The bedroom door was slightly ajar. She had closed it when she left.

‘Did a burglar break in?’

‘No, that seems unlikely.’

She pushed the door open, flipped on the light, and the room was instantly bathed in brightness.

On the bed lay a familiar figure. The light revealed a weary face.

Xia Ling must have been utterly exhausted. The glaring light only caused a brief discomfort before he buried his head back under the covers to continue sleeping.

Shi Sheng shook her head, freshened up, and then climbed into bed, tucking Xia Ling properly under the blankets.

The next morning, Shi Sheng was still asleep when she heard rustling nearby. She turned her head slightly, squinting her eyes open.

Xia Ling was sneaking out of bed like a thief. Shi Sheng reached out and grabbed his clothes.

Xia Ling froze, then awkwardly turned around. “You’re awake.”

“What time is it?”

“A little past nine.” Xia Ling’s gaze darted around. “You should sleep a bit more. I need to head to the company soon.”

‘How did I end up sleeping with her last night?’

‘If Yu Sheng finds out, he’ll kill me.’

Yu Sheng had warned him not to get involved with her until she graduated.

Shi Sheng let go of him, and Xia Ling sighed in relief, quickly heading for the door.

But as he opened it, he saw Yu Sheng and Assistant Feng sitting in the living room.

Assistant Feng glanced at the door behind Xia Ling with a strange expression. “Yu-ge, I’ll head out now.”

No wonder Yu-ge looked so grim when he came out of Xiao’guai’s room earlier.

Assistant Feng silently lit a candle for Xia Ling in his heart.

Yu Sheng nodded curtly, and once Assistant Feng left, he turned his gaze to Xia Ling.

“I didn’t do anything to her,” Xia Ling explained with a calm demeanor.

Yu Sheng’s eyes flicked over Xia Ling’s clothes, still the same as yesterday’s. “Good. Here’s your schedule.”

Because Xia Ling had broken his agreement with Yu Sheng, he barely had any rest time. If Yu Sheng caught him calling or video chatting with Shi Sheng, his schedule would get even more packed.

He hadn’t felt this exhausted even when SHINE was at the peak of its fame.

Meanwhile, Shi Sheng continued to wreak havoc at school, throwing out ominous warnings like “Your forehead is dark, bloodshed is in your future” to anyone she didn’t like. Now, everyone at school avoided her.

A single word from her could spell disaster.

‘Who would want to get close to a girl like that?’

No matter how cute she was, it wouldn’t change the fact that her words were like a curse.

“Junior Bu Meng, Junior Bu Meng…”

Shi Sheng stopped and turned to see who was calling her. It was a decently attractive boy, his face flushed from running.

“Junior Bu Meng…” The senior caught his breath and earnestly extended an invitation. “Would you be interested in joining the Metaphysics Club?”

Shi Sheng declined without a second thought. “No.”

Even real masters couldn’t teach the original owner who was a complete novice. What could a mere club possibly offer?

No way was she going.

The senior didn’t get discouraged, politely saying, “Junior, please reconsider. If you change your mind, you can find me at the Metaphysics Club.”

“Not going.”

The senior: “…”

‘Have some manners, won’t you?’

“Goodbye.” Shi Sheng nodded slightly and walked around the senior, heading towards the school gate.

The senior: “…” ‘Well, at least she’s polite.’
