Chapter 868: Infinite Deathmatch (1)

Chapter 868: Infinite Deathmatch (1)

——Everyone knew that Yu Xia’s black cards were bought wholesale.

“It’s getting dark, and if we can’t find a place to hide, we’re doomed. Don’t take her with us. People like her aren’t worth saving. Those things are catching up fast.”

“Dump her, we can move faster this way.”

Shi Sheng had just opened her eyes when she felt someone shove her, causing her to stumble and crash into a broken wall. The exposed rebar pierced her arm.

She propped herself against the wall, preventing the rebar from going further in.

‘Fuck!’

‘Already this unlucky the moment I arrived!’

“She seems to be waking up.”

Voices came from ahead. Shi Sheng turned to see a landscape of utter devastation.

Skyscrapers looked bombed out, incomplete, and covered in dust, with the sky a perpetual gray.

It looked like the aftermath of a world war.

The place she was in seemed like an alley, with countless collapsed walls and rubble all around.

Opposite her stood four men and two women of varying ages, all with grimy faces and tattered clothes, looking like refugees.

‘This…’

‘What kind of freaking place is this?’

‘Another apocalypse?’

‘Shit, does this mean more killing?’

‘Thinking about it is kind of exciting ah!’

Whoosh—

“Ah! The dark elves are catching up, leave her, let’s go! Whether or not she can keep up is her problem.” A slightly older man in the group spoke.

‘Chotto matte, what the hell are dark elves?’

‘Isn’t this supposed to be an apocalypse?’

Shi Sheng looked in the direction they were gazing. In the distant sky, several black dots were quickly approaching.

The black dots moved extremely fast. In the blink of an eye, Shi Sheng could see what was flying towards them.

Humanoid creatures with pointed ears, their emaciated bodies like desiccated corpses drained of blood, with black wings on their backs.

‘What is this? Dark elves? Even if they have pointed ears, these definitely aren’t dark elves!’

‘Shit! Where’s the common sense?’

‘Who told you dark elves look like dried-up corpses? Fairy tale authors would be in tears right now.’

Shi Sheng looked back at the group, only to see their backs disappearing into the ruins.

Shi Sheng: “…”

‘They sure run fast.’

‘Leaving this daddy here alone with these flying corpses?’

The creatures were closing in now, their huge wings stirring up dust as they swooped toward Shi Sheng.

Shi Sheng drew her sword and braced herself on the ground, ready to fight these corpses.

Just as she was about to move, her body suddenly spasmed uncontrollably.

Her iron sword clanged to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.

Shi Sheng was sweating from the pain, her body curling involuntarily. It felt as if something inside her was trying to burst out.

This sensation was disgusting, leaving Shi Sheng bewildered, unsure of what was happening.

‘What’s wrong with this body?’

Meanwhile, the corpses were close, their withered claws aiming directly at her chest. If those sharp nails pierced her chest, she’d be done for.

With all her strength, Shi Sheng rolled to the side.

The corpse missed, its claws slicing through the wall, sending debris flying and dust swirling.

Angry at missing its target, the corpse shattered the surrounding walls with its wings, exposing Shi Sheng again.

“Fuck!”

‘You think you’re so great?’

Shi Sheng commanded her iron sword to eliminate the corpse.

The sword sprang from the ground, slicing the corpse in two, but then something strange happened.

The split corpse began to regenerate, forming two corpses.

“Regeneration?” Shi Sheng’s eyes widened. ‘Seriously?’

‘What happened to being each other’s angels?’

‘Pei!’

‘Angels, my ass!’

Shi Sheng pulled out an energy orb. If cutting didn’t work, maybe blowing them up will.

The sword, realizing that splitting the corpses only multiplied them, stopped slicing and guarded Shi Sheng instead.

The main group of corpses arrived, swarming Shi Sheng from all sides.

Their instinctive fear of the sword’s aura kept them at bay.

The sword bought her some time, and as her body gradually felt less strained, Shi Sheng climbed onto it, ascending swiftly to distance herself from the creatures.

Unwilling to let their prey escape, the corpses flapped their black wings, chasing after her.

The sword was much faster. Midway, Shi Sheng dropped an energy orb.

The orb hit the ground and exploded with a bang.

Waves of force rippled out, and two corpses near the ground were vaporized into ash instantly.

Since the blast originated from the ground, the airborne creatures only wobbled, disoriented.

By the time they stabilized, Shi Sheng was gone.

Several creatures circled the crater, frustrated, emitting high-pitched screeches.

They hovered, seemingly curious about the crater, exchanging shrill calls.

One corpse, after a couple of laps, landed on the ground, cautiously approaching the crater.

The others followed suit, landing one after another.

As they neared the crater, small balls fell from the sky. Before the corpses could spread their wings, they were engulfed in explosions.

Shi Sheng descended on her sword, surveying the craters below, devoid of corpses.

“Damn it, challenging this daddy…”

Shi Sheng’s pupils contracted. A distant fluttering sound grew louder, black dots speeding towards her.

Countless corpses…

‘Crap crap crap!!!’

‘Just took out one squad, and now there’s an entire battalion?’

‘This isn’t fair, I’m still a noob, and you’re sending the final boss already! How am I supposed to win?’

“Run!”

Iron Sword: “…” ‘Running again? No more epic battles, no more showing off?’

“Epic battles my ass, I(lz) don’t even know how to kill these things! Run!” ‘Gotta survive to fight another day, this imperial baby’ll be back for sure!’

The corpses were faster than Shi Sheng anticipated. Even with the sword, she barely escaped, only to encounter a few more stragglers.

These things seemed to be everywhere; any slip-up could lead to an encounter.

After some effort, Shi Sheng blew them up and finally found a safe spot, collapsing in exhaustion.

The earlier spasms had drained her, and this body didn’t seem in good shape either.

‘They never give me a decent body, it’s impossible to play like this!!’
