Chapter 411 - Liberating Run

Chapter 411 - Liberating Run

The silence of Thalendor’s deep night broke as Lohan was finally able to start physically moving his body. He rolled out through the wood and crystal walls of the elven capital, leaving the capital’s silver gates behind and plunging straight into the dense darkness of the forest of Mythlorien.

For any ordinary person, a forest like that in the middle of the night would be an extremely terrifying scene, full of twisted shadows and genuinely powerful, deadly threats.

But for the current Lohan, with the power Halon now held, it would take a lot more than that to cause him even the slightest fear.

His sensors, perfectly adapted to darkness thanks to his constant high level perception evolutions, could see with crystal clarity, turning the forest’s pitch black into a field as sharp as day, lit and perfectly navigable.

With his fluid flow ability currently at level fifty after the last massive wave of biomass investment, Lohan’s basic mobility had reached an absurd level.

Just by rolling naturally over the dirt ground and weaving through roots, the speed Lohan could develop was already an impressive 90 kilometers per hour (56 miles per hour).

But he wasn’t limited to just moving in ordinary ways.

Since this was one of the few chances he had to test the physical and magical limits of his body and feel adrenaline run through his pure biomass, Lohan focused mana into his core and stretched his blue gelatin at the back, shaping a small, flexible obsidian tail.

Activating manual control of force displacement, he began firing off Explosive Steps continuously through that artificial tail.

Every burst of kinetic energy generated against the ground propelled his mass forward with the force of a small jet engine, sending his current travel speed skyrocketing, approaching the extraordinary mark of nearly 200 kilometers per hour!

Were it not for the constant sound of small explosions and cracks his obsidian tail caused colliding with the damp earth, Lohan would have practically become a blue lightning bolt cutting through the darkness of the forest.

The noise of the continuous detonations echoed through the canopy of the giant trees, with him even trying out the famous ninja run, leaping from branch to branch along the way, realizing just how hard it was to calculate his own movement to never touch the ground.

’In anime they always make this look so easy...’ He thought.

The sense of freedom Lohan experienced in that moment was indescribable.

Right after being stuck in the same spot for over 24 hours, being able to let loose that raw power brought a great euphoria that cleansed his soul, feeling more alive and resilient with every second of the fast run.

Even the images of him trapped in a hospital bed flashed through his mind, making him feel even more grateful for how he was now, and for the freedom he was earning in this world.

However, what surprised him the most was thinking that, even reaching such a high speed that would make ordinary cars from his previous world look slow, it still didn’t come close to the maximum speed Lisa could achieve on her own legs.

The white fox running with spirit power and innate ability was still faster than him at travel, making clear the gap between each of their advantages.

After eleven minutes of a wild run that had drained part of his biomass and Mana to keep the micro explosions active, Lohan burst into the clearing housing Astralis Requiem’s base entrance with a monumental crash.

The impact of him coming to an abrupt stop against the ground, despite his small size, generated a powerful gust of wind that kicked up dry leaves all around, startling Richard, the assassin player from Dylan’s group who was guarding the base that night.

To avoid overworking Pip, the guild had set up a patrol and watch schedule with two members taking turns keeping watch each night, while Pip got his well earned rest, so the guild’s base wouldn’t be left completely unprotected.

Richard, hidden among the shadows of the rocks and nearly asleep, suddenly leapt back with dagger in hand, his heart pounding hard at that sudden, noisy appearance.

However, adjusting his perception and realizing that the large, glowing blue gem in the center of the clearing was Vice President Halon, he let out a long sigh of relief and sheathed his weapon into its leather scabbard.

"Wow, Vice President... you nearly gave me a heart attack..." Richard remarked, wiping a small drop of cold sweat off his forehead as he approached with calm steps. "I thought some elite boss from the deep forest was launching a surprise attack on our tree. Is everything alright, sir? Did something serious happen in Thalendor for you to come back at this insane speed?"

To Richard, who had never seen Halon moving on his own at such high speeds, the sight alone was an enormous shock to him!

Lohan vibrated his membrane, sending a quick reply through the guild’s mental link he immediately connected to. "Everything’s perfectly fine, Richard. No need to worry about me, keep your guard up and keep up the good work."

Without wasting any more time on small talk, Lohan used fluid flow to roll at high speed into the headquarters tree, leaving the player behind, startled and confused.

He crossed the entrance hall as a bright blue blur, passing right by a group of new players chatting excitedly in a corner of the guild’s main hall, discussing the dormitories, the quality of the gear they’d received, and the many benefits Astralis offered that they hadn’t even imagined when they signed up.

The instant Lohan’s presence cut through the hall, the group of rookies fell into absolute silence immediately.

They stopped their conversation mid sentence, their eyes going wide with a mix of shock and a faint glimmer of admiration as they recognized the creature that had just passed by them.

Since Lohan was in a hurry, he didn’t bother keeping his energy contraction active to hide his own aura, which meant the mana presence and biological density his body unconsciously gave off in that enclosed space was simply overwhelming for those Players who had never felt anything like it, acting like an invisible force that nearly crushed the air around them, especially for the more magically sensitive members of the group, who felt their mana channels tremble under the Mythic Slime’s pressure.

With no time to introduce himself or interact with the guild’s new subordinates, Lohan used sticky adhesion to climb the trunk’s inner spirals with agility, heading toward the top.

He rolled straight to the top of the great white tree, crossing through the stained glass portal and arriving at the main meeting hall.

Inside, Lisa, Dylan, and Alice were already waiting for his arrival around the large wooden table.

Alice sat in one of the vine and wood chairs with a visibly groggy expression. The girl had been sleeping peacefully in her bed in the real world when Dylan called her personal terminal in the middle of the night, informing her that Halon had sent an urgent message reporting he’d found the news they’d been so eager for about the Broken Suns’ fraud.

She’d had to log in in a rush from inside her capsule, her mind still struggling to adapt to the fast transition from physical consciousness to Elysium’s environment, making her yawn adorably as she rested her cheek on her leather gauntlet, trying to keep her eyes open while waiting for Halon’s report.
