Volume 11 - Chapter Prologue
During the break in the afternoon, normally I would have found a good spot, flashed over, and leveled there. That last trip to the Abyss made me feel my deficiencies.
Additionally, Wold-chan doesn’t know where to go. So the quests that can be triggered have become pretty scarce. Right now all I can do is go level up by going out to find some nearby magic beasts that are nearby for exp.
But this isn’t a problem for those of us that played online games year round. The only problem is that the numbers of certain magic beasts is really limited. It isn’t like a game where you could grind them indefinitely, so the efficiency isn’t as good.
But we still have been able to get decent results. After a month and a half, in addition to our usual classes, the levels of our group have risen significantly. Not to boast, but my level has raised the fastest. It’s probably because I could use a variety of skills. Now I’ve managed to reach level 71.
Well, right now I’m responsible for nearby magic beasts being endangered.
But due to various things, starting three days ago, my leveling had to stop. Not because of someone else, but because of a big summer event……no, it’s because the college for some reason decided to hold a ‘Secret Treasure Hunt’ and have the students explore the depths of the Grand Orchid Forest. They’re saying it’s to train the strength of the students, but I feel that there’s a lot of pressure.
You have students of all sorts of different backgrounds, is it ok to just put them all into the forest like this?
Even though it’s just a deep mountain forest to the north of the Witt Empire, if I remember correctly, there were reports of a dragon in the area a week ago.
Right. The report said dragons. That’s to say one of the more mysterious races of the world. The dragon started to appear in places that Humans lived.
According to the records, a long time ago the Dragons had moved north of the Rupture Mountain Range, so what is the dragon doing here now?
But that’s part of the college’s biggest motivation. That’s because the people in this world believe that treasures will appear in places that Dragons appear.
The key point is that the treasure hunt was split into two parts: one was the competition between teams, and the other was the actual hunt for treasure.
In other words, even if you found some treasure it might be snatched by other teams before you left the forest.
I couldn’t stop laughing at that. Snatch? Are you kidding me? Do you think you can stop me from using flash movement?
But I shouldn’t do that sort of thing unless necessary. I have to set a good example as a teacher now don’t I? It isn’t good to keep exploiting loopholes.
Right. Unless the treasure is something that I actually want, I’m going to be lazy.
And because of that, we have to get 18 people in the class to act as a group.
But that’s the point.
What kind of class do I have?
A class of problem students!
Eight of the 18 people didn’t come to class in the morning. All of their names were written down. Carefully looking through the list of names, I could see that they all had difficult identities. It seems my class was made up of powerful people.
Not even mentioning that the names of the four prestigious families in our class, there were children of generals and descendents of the founders were there too. There were even alchemists and members of the Church. There was also a child of a Sword Saint. My god, was there some sort of mistake?
What was even more scary was that I thought I saw a familiar name on it.
Enna · Faland.
Well, people might not recognize the name, but if I were to say it was Enna Momiji then everyone would know who it is, right?
That’s right. The girl that was spying in the Ice Empire as well as Falan’s sister. She was in the Magic Corps and it seems her superiors sent her here to study in an allied nation.
Oh my god. What am I making? There is a variety of different problem students but they all seemed to have one common feature.
Not doing their work!
Looking at the family of the general, you don’t study martial arts but like to play chess? But what you’re good at is concealed weapons! I can only imagine his father’s enraged expression.
And another one, that boy Adams. He didn’t carry on his family’s tradition of managing the country’s internal affairs and instead ran off to paint. He’s a problem child too.
But they have acquired some skills from their specialties even if it feels a bit sloppy. After spending quite some time discussing it with Ms. Mari, I decided to mobilize every single one of them. Otherwise we would have too few people in our class. It’d be a big problem if even a single one of them didn’t participate.
But a problem has come up. These people don’t come when you call on them. Especially that Adams, I don’t know where he went to paint.
And so, we can only work with the people we can find.
That’s why I’ve spent three days playing chess with this kid.

“Please give up Teacher. You’ve only had three days to learn to play chess, it’s impossible for you to beat me.”
The teenager infront of me was dressed in noble’s garb. It was a deep blue and had a thin copper ‘General’ piece on his waist. He has short hair the color of flax and eyes that held a perpetual smile.
But I have to admit that this guy’s chess skills are really terrifying. I don’t even need to promise ten minutes.
Over the last three day my record is 498 losses, 0 wins.
Even if I have a little experience in chess I basically have no chance to win against him.
“I’ll give it to you.”
I smiled and looked to him.
“You use what you’re good at when you’re going against me, so naturally you’ll win. How about we switch it up? Head on out and see who wins?”
“Aha. You honor me Teacher. How could I possibly win against someone who’s defeated enormous magical beasts.”
As he spoke he picked up his tea.
“But if you don’t you’ll end up regretting it?”
“……”
When the teen heard this he gave a bitter laugh.
“Teacher, you should know that I never do anything I’m uncertain of. I’ll never suffer defeat as long as I act on things I am certain of.”
“You don’t have regrets?”
“What do I have to regret if I don’t lose? Ah, Teacher, if you go like this then it’ll be checkmate.”
After that he moved a chess piece and, sure enough, I lost again.
499 losses.
“Well, I lost again. Hmm, that’s it for today. I’ll bother you again tomorrow.”
“Right. You’ve been really persistent, Teacher.”
He seemed to be really happy.
“It’s nice too though. Compared to playing chess on my own, playing with you and chatting is fun.”
“As long as you’re happy. Speaking of which, are you really planning on not coming to school? I can specifically allow you to be able play chess on your own in class, and couldn’t you talk to your classmates?”
“……”
He smiled.
“When I believe that the time is right, I will go.”
I had a headache when I left. That guy, pretending to have a match with me, all the talking, it’s so tiring.
“Mr. Lin, it’s been really hard for you.”
Just as I left, it was General Gerard that approached me.
“My rebellious son is difficult to teach. It’s all because of his mother indulging him, and now it’s his teacher’s problem.”
“It’s ok, I’m the same age as your son after all. If we are able to talk, then I can do more work.”
“Thank you for all of your work. Speaking of which, Mr. Lin, do you not intend to find a position in the military with your strength?”
Oh my god, you came to seduce me away.
“Lord General, thank you for the compliment but don’t forget that I’m a National Magician of the Ice Empire.”
“Oh, makes sense, I had forgotten. Well Teacher, if one day you decide that the other position isn’t good enough then you can come to me, hahaha.”
“Ok ok.”
Geez, talking to these people is really tiring.
But it’s not just tiring.
Outside the door of the General’s house, I thought about the next stop.
“What’s next……is the headquarters of the Medical Association. Haa, this is exhausting.”
With that said, my figure faded from view.
