Chapter 282: Divine will 2

Chapter 282: Divine will 2

And then, before any of them could speak further, the Ice Belle stepped beyond the glowing barrier. Her feet did not touch the ground as she rose effortlessly into the air, her translucent wings spreading behind her like the birth of dawn itself. The movement was silent yet awe-inspiring; every beat of her wings shimmered with frost and light, scattering trails of crystalline motes that drifted through the air like falling stars.

She lifted her gaze toward the dragon now soaring frantically across the horizon. It had nearly vanished into the churning storm of darkness, its massive wings slicing through the blackened clouds, desperate to escape the judgment descending upon it.

But she would not permit it.

The golden light gathered around her again, condensing until it burned like a miniature sun. Her expression did not change...no hatred, no wrath, only calm purpose, her actions were guided by divine law itself. The heavens rumbled in response, the corrupted mists parting before her radiance. Then, with one graceful motion, she soared upward, cutting through the air with a blinding burst of light.

Her wings unfurled to their full span, vast and radiant, shimmering with every hue of dawn and frost. The sight was beyond beauty...it was terrifying in its majesty. She became a streak of light against the dark, chasing after the fleeing shadow dragon with such speed that even the lightning of the abyss seemed still in comparison.

Below, within the dome, the group watched in silence. The empress pressed her palm to the divine barrier, her heart pounding as she whispered, "She’s going after it..."

No one answered. Words were useless in the face of what they were seeing.

High above, the Ice Belle closed the distance in mere moments. Her golden aura expanded again, reaching for the beast that dared to flee her judgment. The shadow dragon screamed, a sound that shook the skies themselves. It knew what awaited it...a cleansing, a return to nothingness under the light of purity.

She soared through the abyss like a comet of gold and frost, her light cutting through the darkness with effortless grace. The shadow dragon screeched as it twisted in the air, its massive wings beating with thunderous force. Its scales shimmered with a dark blue hue, every flap of its wings leaving behind trails of smoke and corruption. It tried to rise higher, to escape into the thicker clouds of the abyss, but before it could ascend further, a radiant blur of golden-white light flashed before it.

The Ice Belle had overtaken it.

Her translucent wings spread wide as she floated in the air before the beast, her face calm yet filled with divine resolve. The golden glow that surrounded her shimmered and pulsed, the air around her humming like a sacred melody. The shadow dragon flapped it wings and slowed down, its enormous body trembling as the divine light reached its eyes. Its corrupted scales sizzled under the touch of her aura.

The dragon’s eyes burned with fury. It released an ear-splitting roar that rippled through the dark clouds and launched itself forward, its mouth glowing with a blinding blue light as it prepared another surge of its infernal flame. The abyss trembled as the dragon unleashed its fire, a raging storm of blue that spread wide enough to consume the skies.

But the Ice Belle did not flinch.

She raised one hand gracefully, her expression as serene as an untouched lake. Her divine light responded instantly, swirling around her like a living halo. The golden aura condensed into her palm until it blazed brighter than the dragon’s fire itself. Then she pushed forward. A brilliant beam of pure, sacred radiance shot from her hand, colliding head-on with the beast’s blue inferno.

The clash was cataclysmic. The heavens of the abyss exploded in brilliance and fury as divine light met corrupted flame. A shockwave rolled across the darkened skies, scattering the black mist. The impact forced both combatants backward, but the dragon’s strength was faltering...its blue fire was being consumed by the divine light that refused to yield.

The Ice Belle’s golden radiance grew stronger, purer, more absolute. She was not merely defending; she was cleansing. The dragon roared again, thrashing its wings wildly, trying to escape the searing brightness that burned at its flesh. It lunged forward, swinging one of its massive claws at her, its talons gleaming with black energy sharp enough to tear through mountains.

The Ice Belle vanished before the strike could land, reappearing above the dragon’s head in a burst of light. With a graceful motion, she spread her wings and summoned countless shards of crystal frost that formed from the golden mist around her. Each shard glowed faintly, spinning rapidly before diving down toward the dragon.

The shards pierced into its scales like spears, shattering upon impact but leaving trails of divine energy that burned through its corrupted hide. The dragon howled, its body twisting in pain. It lashed out again, its tail whipping through the air with a sound like thunder, but the Ice Belle was faster...too fast. She darted around it, her movements as fluid as light itself, every motion leaving behind streaks of brilliance that carved glowing lines across the black sky.

Then she stopped suddenly, her eyes narrowing. The dragon turned toward her, its left eye burning bright blue, filled with hatred and rage. It opened its jaws again, gathering more of its infernal flame. But the Ice Belle had already moved.

She extended both hands before her, divine symbols spinning rapidly between her palms. The energy built with a sound like a heartbeat...steady, pure, unstoppable. Then, with a calm whisper that echoed like the wind, she released it.

A concentrated ray of divine light burst forth, faster than the dragon could react. It struck the beast directly in its left eye.

The dragon’s scream tore through the abyss, echoing for miles. Its body convulsed violently as it thrashed in the air, the left side of its face engulfed in golden fire. The divine light burned through its corruption, not just wounding it but purifying the darkness within. Its left eye was gone...obliterated, melted by the holy brilliance. Black smoke poured from the wound as the dragon’s body spiraled downward, crashing through the dense mist.

The Ice Belle hovered above, her expression unchanged, though her light pulsed fiercely, a sign of her righteous fury. Her golden aura slowly began to dim as the dragon’s roars faded into the distance below, replaced by the sound of crackling energy and the whisper of falling frost.

From afar, within the divine dome, the group watched the heavens flare and dim again. Lira, clutching Lucas close, whispered in awe, "She blinded it... she actually blinded the dragon." Others were stunned as well.

None of them could believe what they had seen... how a being that had seemed so small, so innocent, now dominated a celestial shadow dragon in it’s domain.

High above, the Ice Belle floated still, her translucent wings gleaming faintly in the dim light. The divine radiance around her softened, shifting from fierce gold to gentle white. The battle was over, but the silence that followed was heavy with power and awe.

She looked once more toward where the dragon had fallen, her gaze calm and unwavering, before slowly descending back toward the dome below, her light guiding her through the shadows.
