Soulbound: Dual Cultivation

Chapter 453: Synergy

Chapter 453: Synergy

The battlefield had fractured into layers of chaos, yet at its very center, the clash between overwhelming power and desperate resistance continued to intensify, drawing in everything around it like a storm that refused to settle. Henrietta lay where she had fallen, her body still trembling faintly from the impact of Ken’s attack, the burns across her form severe and unforgiving, her breathing shallow as she fought to remain conscious.

Selene was already beside her, her hands steady despite the urgency as she worked quickly, focusing on stabilizing her condition, her expression tight with concentration as she pushed aside everything else happening around them.

"Stay with me," Selene said firmly, her voice low but unwavering as she pressed her hand gently against Henrietta’s shoulder. "Don’t you dare pass out now."

Henrietta let out a weak breath, her lips parting slightly as she tried to respond, though the pain made even that difficult.

"...I’m... not going anywhere..." she managed, her voice strained but stubborn.

Lira stood over them, her stance firm, her eyes sharp as she faced outward, cutting down any enemy soldier that dared come close, her movements fast and decisive as she created a small but vital space around them.

"Focus on her," Lira said without looking back, her tone leaving no room for argument as she deflected an incoming strike and retaliated immediately. "I’ve got this side covered."

Selene did not reply.

She didn’t need to.

Because she trusted her.

Ahead of them, the real storm gathered once more.

Lucas stood beside Princess Nyx and the Ice Belle, all three of them facing Ken with a focus that had only sharpened after everything that had just happened. The battlefield around them no longer mattered, the war between armies fading into irrelevance compared to the presence that stood before them.

Ken.

Unshaken, unmatched and waiting.

The Ice Belle moved first, her expression calm yet cold as she raised her hand slowly, and the domain responded immediately, but this time, it did not expand outward.

It contracted.

The vast frozen valley that had once been under her control began to pull inward, the frost tightening, the air growing denser, colder, heavier, as though the very essence of her domain was being compressed into a smaller, more concentrated space. The temperature dropped sharply, the air becoming harder to breathe, the ground beneath them thickening with reinforced ice that no longer spread wide, but deep.

Lucas felt it instantly.

The change.

"This..." he muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Nyx glanced at him briefly.

"She’s condensing it," she said, her voice calm but analytical. "Less range. More control. More pressure."

The Ice Belle did not speak, but her presence shifted, her aura becoming sharper, more refined, as though every ounce of her power was now being focused into efficiency rather than scale. The wind within the domain grew tighter, faster, more responsive, the ice forming and reforming at a speed that far exceeded what it had been before.

She had made it more dangerous.

Far more dangerous.

Ken noticed.

Of course he did.

A faint smirk touched his lips, not mocking, but acknowledging.

"Better," he said quietly.

Lucas exhaled slowly, his body still strained, still injured, but his resolve unshaken as he reached for something he had not yet used in this fight.

The Core of Dominion.

His bracelet shimmered faintly as he activated it, the energy within responding instantly, spreading through his body like a second pulse, reinforcing his core, sharpening his control, amplifying his presence in a way that pushed him beyond his current limits. The strain was immediate, but so was the power, his senses heightening, his connection to his Qi deepening as he forced more out of himself than he normally could.

Beside him, the Ice Belle mirrored the action, her own connection to the Core of Dominion activating in tandem, her already overwhelming presence rising further as the condensed domain responded to the enhancement, becoming even sharper, even more responsive to her will.

Nyx felt it.

The shift.

"This is our best chance," she said quietly, her eyes locking onto Ken.

Lucas nodded once.

No hesitation.

No doubt.

"Then we take it," he replied.

Across from them, Ken’s expression remained calm, but his eyes sharpened slightly, the increase in pressure not lost on him, the change in their approach clear.

"Finally," he said, his voice low, almost approving.

The pressure in the condensed domain had reached a point where even the air itself felt weaponized, every breath sharp, every movement carrying weight, and within that suffocating intensity, Lucas made a decision that was not born from instinct alone, but from calculation, timing, and the silent understanding shared between those bound to him. He did not speak out loud, did not break focus, yet his intent flowed clearly through the bond that connected him to both Princess Nyx and the Ice Belle, a precise plan forming in an instant, dangerous in execution, but necessary if they were to break through Ken’s seemingly impenetrable control.

Nyx felt it first.

Then the Ice Belle.

No words were exchanged, yet both understood immediately, their roles aligning without hesitation as they trusted Lucas’s judgment completely, knowing that this was not something that could be delayed or refined further in the middle of such a fight.

The Ice Belle moved.

So did Lucas.

Their bracelets came together with a sharp, deliberate impact, the Core of Dominion reacting instantly as the connection between them surged, amplifying the energy being drawn into that single point. The moment their bracelets made contact, Nyx stepped in, her control over ice pushing beyond its previous limits as she poured an overwhelming amount of frigid energy directly into the convergence, her expression tightening as she forced more and more power into it, far beyond what would normally be stable.

The energy began to spiral violently.

Unstable.

Uncontained.

Dangerous even to them.

Frost condensed rapidly around the point of contact, thickening into a dense core of compressed ice energy, so cold that the space around it began to distort slightly, the air cracking faintly under the pressure. It was too much, too fast, the kind of buildup that would inevitably explode if left unchecked for even a fraction too long.

Lucas stepped in at that exact moment.

His spatial control surged outward, wrapping around the unstable mass with precise intent, forcing a boundary around it, containing the violent fluctuations just enough to prevent premature detonation while still allowing the energy within to continue building to a critical threshold. The strain hit him instantly, his control pushed to its limits as he balanced the containment against the instability, knowing that even the slightest miscalculation would result in it detonating right there between them.

But he held it.

Just long enough.

His eyes locked onto Ken.

And in the same instant, he moved.

The contained mass vanished from his hands, slipping through a spatial distortion that folded inward and reopened directly in front of its target, appearing so close that there was no time to react, no time to evade, no time to fully comprehend what had just been done.

Ken saw it too late.

The energy collapsed. And then It exploded.

The detonation was immediate and violent, the compressed ice energy erupting outward in a devastating burst that shattered the air itself, the sheer force of it amplified by the density of the domain and the instability that had been forced to its breaking point. Frost and pressure tore outward simultaneously, the explosion carrying both destructive impact and freezing annihilation in a single moment.

Ken was caught off guard.

The blast struck him directly, the force of it driving into him before he could fully defend, his body thrown backward as the explosion consumed the space he had occupied, the ground beneath him fracturing as he was sent skidding away across the frozen terrain.

The shockwave rippled outward, scattering debris, distorting the battlefield around them as even nearby soldiers felt the impact of what had just occurred.

Lucas exhaled sharply, his body strained from the execution, his control barely holding steady as he stared at the aftermath, his eyes locked onto where Ken had been thrown.

Nyx steadied herself, her breathing heavier now after the output she had just forced into that attack.

The Ice Belle remained still, her gaze sharp, her domain tightening slightly as though waiting for what came next.

They had just done something they hadn’t managed to do since this fight began, thanks to their synergy.

They had landed a hit on Ken.
