Chapter 481: The Cult Of The Eternal Queen

Chapter 481: The Cult Of The Eternal Queen

Despite the overwhelming threat, Nadia didn’t seem bothered at all.

She simply looked at the man with that familiar emotionless expression, the one that made politicians tremble and diplomats second-guess themselves.

It was as if the bomb strapped to his chest had nothing to do with her. As if his threats were background noise, easily ignored.

The man shivered.

It was involuntary, instinctive—a reaction he couldn’t control despite his years of training, despite his reputation as one of the faction’s most formidable operatives.

They had chosen him for this mission because he was fearless. Because he didn’t flinch. Because he had stared death in the face more times than he could count and never once looked away.

But a Battle Angel was a Battle Angel. The pressure she radiated—cold, immense, absolute made something primal in him want to flee.

But still he forced himself to stand tall. He still had the advantage. He still had the bomb. He still had control.

Nadia let the silence stretch for a long moment, then finally exhaled a slow, deep sigh.

Her voice, when it came, was calm, as if they were discussing the weather rather than a bomb that could annihilate everyone in the hall.

"The reason I was able to find you out..." She said evenly. "...is because of your weight."

The man blinked, caught off guard. The rest of the room exchanged confused glances.

"Weight?" He repeated, sneering. "What do you mean, my weight? It’s true that ever since I’ve been staying in the human world this past year planning this entire thing, I gained a couple of pounds. The food here is quite good and I couldn’t help myself."

He tilted his head, still sneering.

"But what does that have to do with you figuring out I had a bomb?"

Nadia didn’t blink as she cooly said, "Because of my blessing, I have complete control over gravity and every single aspect of it. As long as someone is within my radius, I can simply glance at them and know their exact weight."

A ripple of surprise moved through the hall.

Nadia continued without pause. "Normally it’s not a particularly useful ability. If I were a man, perhaps I could use it to find the true weight of a woman I was going on a date with."

Mika’s shoulders shook with suppressed laughter, but the terrified officials didn’t catch the joke at all.

"But there are moments like this where it is particularly useful. Ever since I arrived here, I have kept track of everyone’s weight. It made sense in my mind...until I looked at you."

She narrowed her eyes.

"You appear thin. Short. Light frame. But your actual weight is nearly sixty percent higher than it should be. That kind of discrepancy only happens when someone is carrying something heavy beneath their clothes."

The man’s jaw tightened. He didn’t like being called short.

"I’ve encountered similar situations before. During the war. Suicide bombers, hidden weapons, concealed explosives—but gravity doesn’t lie."

Her voice was flat, matter-of-fact. "So when I noticed your weight, I knew exactly what you were carrying. And I knew what your intentions were."

The man was silent for a beat, then started clapping slowly, the sound echoing in the stunned hall.

"Impressive. Truly impressive." His voice dripped with venom. "Even though you’re my enemy and I absolutely fucking hate you, I have to commend you for figuring something like that out."

He exercised a slightly pitiful, disdainful smile.

"Who would have thought that all those preparations I made and precautions I took would be completely destroyed just because of something like that? Life truly is unpredictable."

He looked back at her with renewed confidence and a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"But still, at the end of the day, no matter how much you found me out, the situation is still the same. I have a bomb strapped around me that would go off any second, and you are not in control here—I am."

He pointed at himself. "I have control over every single person’s life in this room, and you can do nothing about it."

Everyone shivered in horror and instinctively moved away from him. The man’s vanity was clearly satisfied by their terror.

Nadia, however, did not look bothered at all. She continued to stare at him with the same cold, emotionless eyes.

The man frowned, growing irritated by her lack of reaction.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Why are you acting as if this is nothing to you at all!? Don’t you understand—as long as this bomb blows up, this entire place will be evaporated and nothing will exist."

"Every single one of you will turn into ashes and smoke and scatter into the distance!"

He gestured wildly at the cowering delegates.

"So why are you acting like this doesn’t concern you? Why aren’t you scared? Even someone as emotionless as you should be showing something—fear, anger, desperation, something!"

She said nothing.

But then a look of realization dawned on his face. He laughed—a bitter, ugly sound.

"Oh. Oh, I see. That makes perfect sense." He turned to the officials, addressing them directly. "At the end of the day, all of you are her political enemies. You oppose her at every turn. You block her initiatives. You question her motives."

He smiled, slow and cruel.

"If this bomb goes off, every single one of you dies. That would be quite convenient for her, wouldn’t it? And her? She’ll survive. She’s a Battle Angel. She faced the Eternal Queen and lived. A little bomb won’t kill her."

The officials’ eyes widened. They looked at Nadia—not with gratitude for her presence, but with suspicion. Was it true? Had they been brought here to die? Was this all a trap?

"She wants me to do her dirty work." The man continued, savoring their fear. "She wants me to eliminate her opposition for her. And then she’ll walk out of the ashes, unscathed, while the rest of you burn."

The whispers started. Accusatory glances. Muttered fears.

Nadia’s eyes narrowed. Her jaw tightened almost imperceptibly.

"That’s enough."

Her voice cut through the murmurs like a blade.

"And let me tell you that, if I wanted to eliminate everyone in this room, I wouldn’t need your help."

The man’s smile faltered, not expecting such a statement.

"I could kill every single person here without any of you even realizing what was happening. Silently. Efficiently. No witnesses, no evidence, no trace."

Her gaze swept across the officials, and one by one, they looked away.

"And if I wanted to make an example of you—if I wanted to slaughter you all publicly and send a message to the rest of the world—no one would stop me. No one could stop me."

Her voice was ice.

"The other realms would smile at me, thank me for my service, and appoint new representatives. More obedient ones. More cooperative ones."

She turned back to the man.

"So no. I have no use for you. If I wanted a massacre, I could have one anytime I pleased."

Mika had to cover his mouth to stifle his laughter.

He knew exactly what was happening. Nadia was furious—not at the bomber, but at the officials.

After everything she had done to protect them, after standing between them and certain death, they had looked at her like she was the enemy. Like she was the one they should fear.

So she had decided to remind them exactly why they should fear her. And she had taken a page straight out of his book.

The officials trembled. They had no doubt she was telling the truth. And yet, paradoxically, they also felt relief.

Because if she had wanted them dead, they would already be dead. The fact that she was saying this meant she had no intention of following through.

The man was quiet for a moment. Then he smiled again, though it didn’t reach his eyes.

"I suppose that makes sense too. You are one of the most powerful beings alive. No matter what you do, no matter what havoc you cause—no one can stop you. The common people can only suffer in your wake."

Nadia’s eyes grew colder.

"You should be the last person to say such words."

He blinked. "What?"

"You serve the Eternal Queen’s faction. The same Eternal Queen who slaughtered millions for her own amusement. Who enslaved entire populations. Who kidnapped children and brainwashed them into soldiers. Who ruled through terror and torture because no one was strong enough to stop her."

Her voice was quiet, but every word landed like a hammer blow.

"So no. You don’t get to lecture me about the suffering of common people. You don’t get to pretend you have the moral high ground. You are a follower of a tyrant. And tyrants don’t get to play the victim."

The man’s face contorted with rage.

"SHUT UP!" He thrust the detonator toward her, his hand shaking. "SHUT YOUR MOUTH, YOU BITCH!"

"Don’t you dare compare yourself to the Eternal Queen! Her plans, her actions—you couldn’t possibly understand them! She was saving the world! She was protecting it from itself!"

He was breathing heavily, his eyes wild.

"You’re nothing but a hypocrite! A deity playing at being human, pretending you care about the common people when you’re just as far above them as she was!"

He caught himself, breathing hard. Then a new thought struck him.

"Wait." His eyes narrowed. "If you really don’t intend to let these people die...then why are you so calm?"

He gestured at her with the detonator.

"I understand you don’t show emotion well. But even you should be doing something. Asking me why I’m here. What my demands are. Negotiating. Something."

"Instead, you’re just...watching. Standing there. Like this has nothing to do with you."

He tilted his head, studying her.

"So where is this confidence coming from? Don’t tell me it’s just bravado. Because if you keep up this act, I might just trigger the bomb out of spite. Watch your face crumble in my final moments."

The officials gasped. They looked at Nadia, desperate for her to say something, to do something, to reassure them that everything would be alright.

Nadia met the man’s gaze.

"Fine." She said. "I’ll tell you."

She paused and finally said,

"Because I’ve already dismantled your bomb."

The room went silent.

"What?"

"Is that true?"

"But how—"

"She didn’t even move!"

"He said any disturbance would set it off!"

The man stared at her, then burst out laughing.

"That’s rich. That’s really rich." He wiped a tear from his eye. "I’ll admit, you almost had me there for a second. But that’s an absurd lie, and you know it."

Nadia didn’t blink.

"I’m not lying. The bomb no longer works. You can press the trigger all you want. Nothing will happen."

His laughter faded.

"In fact." She continued, her voice icy. "Go ahead. Trigger it. Let me watch an explosion that will never come."

The officials panicked.

"Lady Nadia, please!"

"Don’t provoke him!"

"We can’t withstand a blast like you can!"

"Have mercy!"

She ignored them. Her eyes never left the man.

"You’re crazy." He said, his voice low. "Absolutely insane. You really don’t care if everyone here dies, do you?"

He held up the detonator.

"I’ll do it! I swear to the Eternal Queen, I’ll do it!"

"Then do it." Her lip curled almost imperceptibly. "Stop talking and do it. Unless..."

She tilted her head with a mocking gaze.

"Unless you’re too scared to sacrifice your own life."

The man’s face twisted with rage. He had wanted to say more, to gloat, to make them all suffer, but her words had trampled on his dignity.

"Fuck it! Fuck it all! If you really want to see an explosion that much and if you want to see everyone die in this moment, then I’ll do it for you!"

He raised the detonator high.

"LONG LIVE THE ETERNAL QUEEN! FOR SHE SHALL RISE AGAIN!"

He pressed the trigger.

The officials screamed. They dove behind desks, covered their heads, prayed to gods they hadn’t spoken to in years.

But...nothing happened.

No explosion. No fire. No heat. No light.

Just silence.

The man’s eyes snapped open in disbelief. He tapped the trigger again. Nothing.

He smashed his hand against the device frantically, but the bomb remained inert. His face twisted from shock to pure fury.

"How?! How did you do it? How did you deactivate the bomb without even doing anything?!"
