Chapter 619: Get Up, Bitch

Chapter 619: Get Up, Bitch

Before Amanda could even begin to turn, Marcus brought the heavy axe down with terrifying force.

CRUNCH!

“AHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Amanda shrieked, as the rusted blade buried itself deep into Amanda’s back, shattering her shoulder blade and carving through her ribcage.

“YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD STEAL MY TOY?!”

Marcus roared wildly, pulling the axe back with a wet schlick before slamming it into her spine again.

“IN MY DOMAIN?! YOU DARE TRY TO HUMILIATE ME IN MY OWN HOUSE, YOU BITCH?!”

HACK! HACK! HACK!

Marcus swung the massive blade repeatedly, hack after brutal hack, carving into her flesh like a mad butcher.

“STOP IT!” Charlotte threw herself at Marcus, but her hands passed through him like smoke. “PLEASE! STOP! SHE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!”

But Marcus didn’t stop. He pulled the axe free and swung again. And again. And again.

Each blow landed with wet, horrible weight, carving Amanda apart piece by piece. Blood pooled on the floor. Fragments of bone scattered across the tiles

But Amanda, despite the agony, wrapped her arms around Charlotte. She curled her body around her student like a shield, taking the brunt of every blow.

“Miss Amanda, NO!” Charlotte wept hysterically, trying to push her mentor away. “He can’t hurt my spirit! Protect yourself! DON’T WORRY ABOUT ME!

But Amanda didn’t move. She just held on, screaming with each impact, her blood pooling around them both.

“Please, stop it! I beg you, stop it!” Charlotte screamed at Marcus, tears blinding her vision.

“She’s innocent! She has nothing to do with this! TAKE ME INSTEAD!”

Marcus completely ignored her, lost in a frenzy of violent rage.

“DIE! DIE! DIE, YOU MEDDLING BITCH!”

Finally, Amanda collapsed to the ground. She reached out toward Charlotte, her fingers trembling, her eyes already beginning to glaze over.

“Charlotte…I’m sorry…I couldn’t…”

Marcus raised the axe one final time.

“Sweet dreams, Lady Oracle.”

The blade fell.

SCHLICK!

THUD!

Amanda’s head separated from her body with a sound that Charlotte would hear in her nightmares for the rest of her life.

It rolled across the floor, coming to rest against a fallen bookshelf. Her eyes, those kind, gentle, blue eyes stared at nothing.

Charlotte stared at the body of her teacher. At the blood. At the severed head.

“Miss…Amanda…?”

No response. Of course no response. She was dead.

“Miss Amanda. Miss Amanda. MISS AMANDA!”

Charlotte’s scream tore through the library, filled with a despair so profound it seemed to shake the very walls.

She had come to save them. Her beloved teacher had come to rescue her, and now she was dead.

Murdered.

Butchered like an animal.

All because of her. Because she had been too weak. Too stupid. Too naive.

Marcus stood over Amanda’s corpse, his chest heaving, his face spattered with blood. He was laughing—a deep, genuine, joyful laugh that echoed through the library like a funeral bell.

“Oh, that was wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! I haven’t had this much fun in—”

“Stop playing those useless games of yours, you imbecile.”

The voice cut through Marcus’s laughter utterly devoid of emotion.

Marcus froze.

Charlotte’s head snapped toward the sound.

Mika was awake!

His eyes were open, fixed on Marcus with an expression she had never seen before.

It wasn’t anger. It wasn’t pain. It was something colder. Something that saw through everything.

“You aren’t fooling anyone.” Mika said cooly. “So drop the act.”

Charlotte scrambled to his side, tears still streaming down her face.

“Mika, no—you don’t understand—that’s really Miss Amanda! I know I’m useless, but I can still sense who’s real and who’s not in dreams! That was her!”

She thought Mika assumed Marcus was using his domain to create a fake hallucination to break her mind, and she desperately wanted him to understand the gravity of the tragedy.

But to her surprise—

“Charlotte…I already know that your teacher is real.”

Charlotte blinked. “You…what?”

“What I’m saying is fake is the act they’re putting on….I’m telling them to stop pretending.”

Marcus’s expression had gone very, very still.

“W-What do you mean?” Charlotte asked, her voice trembling. “What act? What’s going on?!”

Mika didn’t answer her directly.

Instead, he looked at Amanda’s corpse and spoke with cold command.

“Get up, bitch…”

Nothing happened.

“I told you to get up, you filthy whore…”

Still nothing.

Marcus clicked his tongue in annoyance.

“Get up already! You’re just embarrassing yourself at this point!”

Charlotte’s mind reeled. “What—why are you talking to her like that? She’s dead! She died protecting me and you’re—”

She stopped.

Amanda’s toe twitched.

Her hand trembled. Her body, which had been utterly limp moments ago, began to stir.

And then, slowly, the headless corpse pushed itself up from the floor. It rose to its feet with the casual ease of someone getting out of bed in the morning.

Then it reached down, picked up its own severed head, and placed it back on its neck.

And Amanda Lioletta, the woman who had supposedly just been murdered in front of Charlotte’s eyes stood before her, very much alive.

But she was different now.

The warmth was gone from her eyes. The gentleness had vanished from her expression.

In their place was a smile that made Charlotte’s blood run cold—cunning and cruel and utterly, horrifyingly familiar.

It was the same smile Marcus wore.

“Wh…What…” Charlotte couldn’t form words. “What’s going on? How…How did you get up when Mika told you to? What’s happening?”

She turned to Mika, her eyes wild with confusion and dawning horror.

“Mika, please! Please tell me what’s going on!”

Mika let out a slow, heavy sigh, his gaze sweeping over Amanda and Marcus with absolute disdain.

“From the very beginning, Charlotte…”

Mika explained quietly.

“…the two of them have been in on this together.”

Charlotte felt as though a bomb had detonated inside her skull.

“That woman standing in front of you is indeed your teacher, Amanda Lioretta.”

Mika continued, his voice steady and cold.

“The same woman who taught you psychic control, the same woman who gave me treats when I waited for you outside her classroom.”

“But she was never on our side. She has been in cahoots with this bastard long before we ever stepped foot in this realm.”

“No…no, that’s impossible…” Charlotte whimpered, clutching her head.

This her teacher who had made tea with her, who had pushed her on the swings when she was little, who her mother trusted implicitly!

To hear that she was a traitor working with a sadist felt like her entire world was collapsing.

In response, Amanda let out a soft, melodious laugh, a sound that no longer felt comforting, but deeply unsettling.

She looked at Mika with an intrigued, amused expression.

“My, my, Mika…” Amanda purred, tilting her head. “How on earth did you figure it out? How did you know I was an accomplice, and that my sudden ‘heroic rescue’ was just a scripted performance?”

Before Mika could answer, Marcus scoffed.

“It was obviously because of your atrocious acting! Anyone could have seen through it. I told you to be more convincing, but no—you had to be dramatic.”

“‘Oh, Charlotte, my precious student! I came to save you!'” He mimicked her voice in a mocking falsetto. “Disgusting! How you ever landed roles in actual films with skills like that is beyond me.”

Amanda’s expression soured.

“Shut up, Marcus! My acting was flawless! Did you hear how I screamed when you were hacking me with that axe? I even impressed myself.”

She placed a hand on her chest, preening. “They should give me an award. A lifetime achievement award for Most Convincing Death Scene.”

“You overacted. You always overact.”

“I do not!”

“The death scene was too long. You kept twitching.”

“That’s what dying people do! They twitch!”

Watching them bicker like an old married couple, Charlotte felt her heart shatter into even smaller pieces.

Every word they spoke was another nail in the coffin of her trust.

They had planned this. All of it. The rescue. The fight. The murder.

Every single moment had been scripted.

“But that still doesn’t explain how you figured it out.”

Amanda said, turning back to Mika with genuine curiosity.

“The plan was perfect. I would come in as the concerned teacher. I would ‘save’ Charlotte from Marcus. He would ‘kill’ me. And then, after a revival and some other plays, Charlotte would finally agree to leave your domain so we could—”

She smiled at Charlotte, and it was the most terrifying smile she had ever seen.

“—play with her too.”

THUD!

Charlotte felt her legs give out. She slumped against Mika’s chair, unable to support her own weight.

They had been planning to torture her. Her own teacher had been planning to torture her from the very beginning.

Mika squeezed her hand, a silent gesture of support.

Then he turned his cold gaze back to Amanda.

“There are several reasons.” He said, his voice calm despite the fury burning in his eyes.

“First: your acting is genuinely terrible. Anyone with half a brain could see through it.”

Marcus barked out a laugh. “I told you!”

“Shut up!” Amanda snapped.

“Second.” Mika continued. “I know you’re not stupid.”

Amanda raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“The only reason Charlotte entered this domain is because she’s naive. She’s six years old. She doesn’t understand the dangers. She heard people crying for help and her instinct was to save them.”

His eyes narrowed.

“But you’re a grown woman with decades of experience. Even if you found a clue about Charlotte’s whereabouts, I don’t believe for a second that you would just blindly enter an unknown domain without hesitation.”

“If you genuinely wanted to save her, you would have gone to her mother first. You would have reported what you found. You would have approached with caution.”

He let the words hang in the air.

“But you didn’t. You walked right in because you knew exactly what was waiting for you.”

Amanda considered this, then nodded slowly.

“That’s…actually quite observant. I suppose I should have expected as much from you, Mika. You were always the clever one.”

“As for the third most important reason—” Mika’s lips curved into a cold smile. “—I’ll keep that to myself. It’s much more satisfying to let you die in suspense, wondering where exactly you screwed up.”

Both Marcus and Amanda frowned. They were the ones in power here. They were the ones who held all the cards.

And yet, somehow, this boy was looking at them as if they were the ones who had been outmaneuvered.

It was infuriating.

But Mika wasn’t finished.

“There is one thing I’m curious about, though.” He said slowly. “When exactly did you join forces with Marcus? Is this a recent partnership, or—”

His eyes narrowed.

“—have you two been collaborating for quite some time?”

Amanda’s composure returned. She chuckled, a dark, throaty sound that was nothing like the warm laughter Charlotte remembered.

“That’s a long story. But I suppose we have time.”
