Chapter 641: She's Back
Chapter 641: She’s Back
Charlotte, Anya, and the other sisters were terrified beyond reason.
The voice was beautiful, yes, undeniably so. It was a voice that seemed to have been crafted from silk and starlight.
But there was an eerie quality to it like a ghost whispering directly into their ears, sending shivers racing down their spines.
But their fear was nothing compared to what the Battle Angels were experiencing.
Yelena’s eyes shrank to pinpoints. Her face went whiter than they had ever seen it and her voice came out as a strangled whisper.
“No way…I-It can’t be…It can’t be…”
Fauna clutched at her head with both hands, her fingers digging into her hair as if she could physically tear the sound out of her ears.
“How is it her? It can’t be her…IT CAN’T BE HER!”
Nadia’s expression was of genuine, soul-deep disbelief.
“She’s dead. We killed her. She isn’t alive anymore—we made sure of it. We destroyed her.”
The Maiden of War, the warrior who had never once shown fear on the battlefield looked genuinely terrified, her massive frame seeming to shrink in on itself.
“T-This is wrong….This is all wrong. We destroyed her. We made certain!”
The Maiden of Fate looked as though someone had reached into her chest and torn out every certainty she had ever possessed.
Her lips moved soundlessly before she managed.
“She’s back. After all these years, she’s…back.”
If anyone else had witnessed this scene, they would have declared it impossible.
It had to be some sort of elaborate prank, some kind of theatrical performance.
These were literally the strongest beings in the world. What could possibly make them afraid?
Well, there was one person.
One single woman who had haunted their nightmares for decades.
One entity who had ruined entire realms and left nothing but ash and suffering in her wake.
The One and Only Ruler Of Darkness.
The Empress of Suffering.
The Nightmare that had nearly Consumed The World.
The Eternal Queen.
Yes, the voice they heard right now unmistakably belonged to her.
It was burned into their memories, carved into their very souls, a constant reminder of the monster they had faced and the sacrifices they had made to stop her.
They exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of confusion and horror.
They weren’t supposed to hear her voice. They had slain the Eternal Queen. She was dead—truly, completely dead.
There was no possible way she could be speaking to them now!
And yet, here they were. And she was speaking.
The mothers immediately surrounded their children, layering shield after shield of protective mana around them.
The children clutched at their mothers’ clothes, their small bodies trembling with fear.
But there was one person who remained composed throughout the entire ordeal.
The daughter of the Maiden of Fate sat calmly in her wheelchair, her blindfolded gaze fixed on Mika.
Her expression wasn’t fearful—it was troubled, perhaps, but not afraid. She simply watched, her head tilted slightly as if she were listening to something no one else could hear.
—
Mika, meanwhile, had gone still. His purple eyes narrowed, and his lips curved into a frown.
“It’s you.” He said.
The Battle Angels felt their blood run even colder.
Mika had spoken as if he recognized the voice, as if he had known it long before this moment.
The implications of that were terrifying beyond measure.
But Mika didn’t seem to care about their reactions. He simply waited, his expression expectant.
And the voice responded.
“Yes!” It was excited now, practically vibrating with manic energy. “Yes, it’s me! My child, it’s me! Your mother!”
The words came faster and faster, tumbling over each other in a frantic rush.
“I missed you! I missed you so much! I’ve craved you! I’ve wanted you! Every moment without you has been agony—absolute agony!”
The voice laughed, a sound that was somehow both beautiful and horrifying.
Hearing that terrifying voice claim to be Mika’s mother was too much for Fauna.
Despite her weakness, despite the pressure bearing down on her, she shouted:
“No, Mika! That’s not your mother! That’s—”
The pressure intensified instantly.
Fauna’s voice cut off as if someone had wrapped invisible hands around her throat. Whatever was speaking to Mika was furious, and it did not want her to interfere.
The voice refocused on Mika, seeming to come from everywhere at once now—from the walls, the ceiling, the floor, whispering from shadows that shouldn’t have existed.
“Now forget about them, my son. Focus on your mission.”
“My mission?” Mika’s voice was distant, confused.
“Yes.” The voice purred. “Your mission. To conquer the entire world. To make it yours!”
The words sent shivers through everyone present.
“Take the throne!” The voice continued, its tone growing more intense with each word. “Take the crown! Take everything!”
“Let them tremble when your name is spoken…”
“Let kingdoms collapse when you raise your hand…”
“Let armies march against you and discover that they were marching toward their own graves…”
The voice was seductive now, persuasive, weaving a web of temptation around Mika’s fractured mind.
“Why settle for being respected when you could be feared?!”
“Why ask them to follow you when you could force them to kneel?!”
“Those who refuse you—break them!”
“Those who oppose you—crush them!”
“Those who betray you—erase them!”
Each word seemed to resonate with power, sinking into Mika’s consciousness and taking root there.
The Battle Angels could only watch in horror as their precious boy was slowly being twisted into something unrecognizable.
But then, miraculously, Mika spoke.
“But…But that’s not right.”
The words were hesitant, uncertain, but they were there. Some small part of him was still fighting, still clinging to the values he had been raised with.
The Battle Angels felt tears fill their eyes. Despite everything he had suffered, despite the horrors he had endured, Mika still had some semblance of rationality left.
He was still in there somewhere, fighting against the darkness that threatened to consume him.
The Maiden of Fate especially felt a surge of pride mixed with overwhelming grief.
She really did raise a fine son!
But the voice was not deterred.
“Why do you hesitate?”
It demanded, its tone sharpening.
“Why do you shrink back into the shadows when the throne is right there, dripping with unclaimed power, practically begging for your hand?!”
The pressure in the room intensified, making it even harder for the family to breathe.
“They call it cruelty—let them! They call it atrocity—let them bleed out while they scream it!”
“They are cattle, nothing more than weak, soft, sniveling things born to serve a master!”
“And who else could that master be!? Who else has the vision!? Who else has the power!?”
The voice was growing more passionate, more insistent.
“Take it, my child! Make it yours! Tear the crowns from their bloodied heads and crush them beneath your heel!”
“Enslave the ones who bow, and slaughter every last fool who dares to stand in your way!”
“No mercy, no hesitation, no weak little flinches of conscience!”
The words came faster now, a torrent of darkness that threatened to drown everything good in Mika’s soul.
“Rip down their walls! Burn their sacred cities to ash and let the smoke blot out the sun until the whole world knows only your name, your law, your shadow!”
“Put your hands around the throat of this fragile realm and squeeze until it belongs to you!”
“Paint your path in their ruin, march over their corpses, and take what is rightfully yours!”
The voice rose to a crescendo, filled with manic triumph.
“Become the king…become the god…DESTROY THEM ALL!”
With every line, the pressure increased.
The Battle Angels could no longer even lift their heads, forced to bow before the overwhelming force that surrounded them.
They poured all their remaining strength into protecting their children, who were pale and trembling, unable to even open their mouths against the crushing weight.
And Mika, poor, fractured Mika was caught in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Anguish. Sadness. Reluctance. The voice was overwhelming him, drowning out his own thoughts, his own will.
“Stop being kind.” It whispered. “Stop forgiving. Stop hesitating. Open the door. Let that darkness inside you breathe.”
The words wrapped around him like chains.
“And when the world finally realizes what you’ve become…let it kneel.”
“Let it beg.”
“Let it remember the moment you decided that you would no longer live beneath anyone.”
Mika’s resistance was crumbling. They could see it in his posture, in the way his shoulders slowly relaxed, in the way his expression shifted from confusion to something darker.
“And if the world refuses to accept you…”
The voice dropped to a whisper, intimate and terrible.
“…then tear the old world apart and build a new one from its ashes.”
The moment those final words were spoken, something in Mika’s expression shifted.
His lips curled upward into a smile—but it wasn’t the warm, gentle smile his family knew so well.
It was cold and cruel and utterly terrifying.
The Battle Angels shook their heads desperately, their eyes pleading.
‘No, Mika!’
‘Don’t fall for it!’
‘Don’t give in! Please!’
But it was already too late.
“I guess…what you’re saying is true.”
Mika whispered, his voice trembling with a dark, newly birthed arrogance.
“If the world is really this fragile…why should I wait? If I want something, I can just take it, can’t I?”
The voice’s response was gleeful, almost orgasmic in its enthusiasm.
“Yes! Yes, my child! My precious baby! That’s right! You can take whatever you want! And what you want right now—what is it that you want?!”
Mika turned to look out the window, his purple eyes fixed on the distant skyline.
“I want their lives.”
The words were spoken without hesitation, without doubt.
“I want every single one of their lives.”
“TAKE IT!” The Queen encouraged him hysterically. “TAKE IT! ONE, A DOZEN, A HUNDRED, A THOUSAND, A MILLION, A BILLION—ANYTHING YOU WANT! ALL THOSE LIVES BELONG TO YOU!”
“YOU ARE THE KING OF THE WORLD, AND EVERY ONE OF THEM SHOULD BE HONORED TO DIE FOR YOU!”
BOOM!
The entire hospital was shaking now, trembling as if caught in the grip of an earthquake. The lights flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness.
Outside, the families who had been enjoying their New Year’s celebration scrambled in panic as a frightening, threatening aura leaked out from the hospital room.
And Mika, fully under the influence of the voice, turned as if to leave, as if to carry out his terrible promise.
But the voice stopped him.
“Wait, wait, wait. Where are you going darling? Where do you think you’re going right now?”
Mika paused, confusion flickering across his face.
“I’m going to slaughter them all. Like I said.”
“No, no, no!” The Queen laughed, sounding like a mother scolding a silly child. “A king should never leave his throne! Why should you do menial labor and get filthy blood all over your hands? A king sits on top of the world and lets others do his bidding!”
Mika frowned.
“The others?” He slowly turned his head toward the Battle Angels, who were crying at him now, shaking their heads with desperate, pleading motions.
“You mean…them?”
Charlotte’s heart stopped.
“No.” She breathed. “Mika, no. Please. You can’t! They—”
“Yes, yes, yes!” The voice was laughing now, a sound like wind chimes in a hurricane. “Your soldiers! Your underlings! Your slaves!”
“Give the orders to them! Make them do the bloody work! You simply stay on your throne and let them slaughter whoever opposes you!”
Mika studied the Battle Angels with an expression of genuine consideration.
Yelena was shaking her head desperately.
Fauna had tears streaming down her face.
Nadia’s jaw was clenched so tight Charlotte could see the muscles straining.
The Maiden of War looked as though she was fighting against invisible chains.
And the Maiden of Fate…
The Maiden of Fate simply looked at her son with an expression of absolute, bottomless sorrow.
