Chapter 3634: Willbound Spire
Chapter 3634: Willbound Spire
Meng Sang was not Emperor Wu. He did not have the typical aggressive temperament of most beast-form Spirit Rebirths. Instead, Meng Sang was a schemer.
After just a glance at Shao Chen, the Seraph continued moving forward.
Suddenly, he stopped and turned to look in a certain direction. He was looking at the Origin Progenitor.
Meng Sang’s eyes flickered. This was a man the Seraph was extremely wary of.
During the battle in the Primal Beastland, the Origin Progenitor had been the first person to break free from Meng Sang’s Dreamshade. If Meng Sang had had even a little more time, he would have been able to whisk Old Salamander away without being chased by Emperor Wu for so long.
The Origin Progenitor was just as grave a threat as Seraph Lu.
Lord Yong Heng said that this man was once the greatest expert in the Tianyuan Megaverse.
In addition to the various powerhouses, Boundless also carried the Tianyuan Army, various mechas, and the black energy converter users. While all of those people appeared to be rather average cultivators, each and every one of them was capable of unleashing as much power as a peak powerhouse. If an all-out battle broke out, the consequences of ignoring the weaklings aboard Boundless were unimaginable.
What no one knew was that, in the depths of Boundless, there were also wandering corpses lurking about.
Lu Yin had given Silver plenty of time, and the wandering corpses had become powerful enough that, even if they were not a match for True God’s Ossis Ark, they were not far off.
If Boundless were to fight against the Spirit Nidus with its full power, the megaverse would be horrified by the hidden strength of the battleship, especially considering the number of people who had finished splitting apart the Nine Heavens.
The people of the Tianyuan Megaverse would not be suppressed as easily as they would have been when they had first arrived in the Spirit Nidus.
True God had been absolutely right; anyone who gave Lu Yin time never met a good end.
Meng Sang averted his gaze and then continued further deeper into Boundless, eventually arriving at the Rain Observatory.
The drizzling rain pattered onto the stone slabs.
Lu Yin was standing with his back to Meng Sang. The rain was allowed to fall onto Lu Yin, as he enjoyed the coolness.
"You have some guts, daring to set foot onto Boundless. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll keep you here?"
Meng Sang stared at Lu Yin’s back. "If you wanted to capture me, you wouldn’t have waited for so long."
"The Tianyuan Megaverse experienced time along a branch stream of the River of Aeons. During the time that was reverted, you created a blood debt towards those aboard Boundless," Lu Yin coldly stated.
Meng Sang frowned, suddenly reminded of the Spirit Ancestor who had stared at him earlier. "We stood on opposing sides. There is no right or wrong to such things."
"You’re right. There’s no right or wrong. I’ll make sure your passing will be an easy one," Lu Yin said calmly.
Meng Sang spoke in a low voice, "I come with a message from Lord Yong Heng: ‘I know your goal.’"
Lu Yin did not turn around, and he continued to stare off into the distance.
"‘I didn’t expect you to retake the upper hand so swiftly. The Spirit Nidus is completely unaware of your current advantage, but I can ensure that they learn.’"
"Terms?" Lu Yin asked. If anyone could see through Lu Yin’s actions, it was Yong Heng.
Not even all of those closest to Lu Yin were aware of his ability to Possess others.
If this secret were exposed, there was no doubt that the High Seraph would understand the real reason why Lu Yin had spread his Linked Spirit battle technique. All of Lu Yin’s efforts would be for nothing.
An advantage was meant to widen the gap, but even with this, Lu Yin was unable to shake off Yong Heng.
Yong Heng intended for the Spirit Nidus to be the third battlefield between him and Lu Yin. At this moment, it appeared that his goals were quickly approaching reality.
Meng Sang did not know what Lu Yin had done. The Seraph was merely serving as a messenger. "Zhan Yan."
Lu Yin did not hesitate. "Fine. Choose a time and place, and I’ll turn Zhan Yan over."
"You can’t give her to me now?" Meng Sang asked.
Lu Yin turned around and gave the Seraph an amused smile. "Forget about whether you will even be able to get away from Boundless, as there’s a woman near this ship who’s watching you."
Meng Sang frowned. He knew exactly who Lu Yin was referring to: Jiu Xian.
For some unknown reason, Jiu Xian had abruptly become fixated with Meng Sang. She was following him everywhere, and she never left him alone. This was why he had not even been able to return to Yong Heng.
He had asked Jiu Xian why she was following him, but she had just smiled and said that she wanted to treat him to a drink. The only problem was that she was unable to decide what kind of wine to serve him, and so she had decided to follow him until she came to a decision.
The blatant excuse gave Meng Sang the urge to smack the woman. Even an idiot could tell that she was lying.
He was certain that he had never offended Jiu Xian, but not even Yong Heng had any idea why she had suddenly become obsessed with Meng Sang.
In the end, Jiu Xian was still one of the Seven Seraphs, and she had obtained the title far before Meng Sang had. He knew that he was most likely not her match in a direct fight. On top of that, it was extremely difficult to escape from the woman, which had led to the current, extremely frustrating situation.
"If you aren’t even able to shake her off, do you really think that you can deliver Zhan Yan over?" Lu Yin scoffed.
Meng Sang let out a helpless sigh. "I’ll tell you a time and place."
With that, the Seraph turned around and walked away.
Lu Yin remained where he was, his brow furrowed.
It was clear that he had underestimated Yong Heng. The man had seen through Lu Yin’s intentions. Having such an opponent who was so familiar with Lu Yin’s methods was truly frustrating.
Yong Heng wanted Zhan Yan to mend his own karma.
He actually possessed the key to the Gate of Laws, so as long as Yong Heng could take Zhan Yan away from Lu Yin, his karma would be mended, and Lu Yin would lose that leverage against True God.
Lu Yin finally understood how the High Seraph must have felt. It was extremely unpleasant to have someone’s hands at his throat.
If the experience was unpleasant for Lu Yin, then it was certain that Yong Heng was also feeling frustrated.
When Meng Sang left the Rain Observatory, he intended to immediately tear through the void and leave, which would allow him to avoid Jiu Xian. After all, she had not been able to follow him onto Boundless.
Before reaching the battleship, Jiu Xian had repeatedly prevented Meng Sang from tearing open the void and escaping, which completely infuriated him.
Suddenly, a golden cudgel shot towards him. Meng Sang dodged the attack, and he looked over in surprise to see Sovereign Dou Sheng.
"There are rules here on Boundless: You leave the same way you arrive," Sovereign Dou Sheng said as he clenched his weapon tightly. While his face was grinning, battle lust filled his eyes.
Meng Sang’s eyes flickered as he glanced around. One by one, all the experts on Boundless started staring at him. If the Seraph made an attempt to tear through the void and leave, none of these people would hold back. Attempting to escape was no different from challenging everyone aboard Boundless on his own.
Even if Lu Yin stood aside, not even Emperor Wu could be assured of victory when facing the combined might of everyone aboard Boundless. Meng Sang did not even need to be mentioned.
Helpless, the Seraph said nothing and silently walked off of the vessel.
As he was leaving, Astral Anura mocked him, "A glorious Seraph, and yet such a coward!"
Ce Wangtian also mocked Meng Sang. "That guy with the cudgel’s been annoying me for a while now. Meng Sang, can you do me a favor and go beat him up?"
Sovereign Dou Sheng set his weapon on his shoulder. "Let’s go! I’ve also been feeling irritated for a long time."
Meng Sang said nothing as he moved off of Boundless. He did not even react to the jibes.
Yu Shan and the people from the Spirit Nidus who had joined Grandverse Manor all watched as the Seraph walked away. The sight left them all stunned.
Had one of the magnificent Seven Seraphs really visited Boundless only to be forced away in humiliation? Meng Sang had acted like a bullied school child, not daring to say a word no matter how he had been antagonized or insulted.
This was the power of Boundless, and it was absolutely terrifying.
Yu Shan let out a long breath. Yes, this was the power of Boundless. Only such power could leave even the High Seraph wary.
Among the trees, the Pridebeast and Megalith both gave thumbs-ups in the direction of Meng Sang’s departing figure.
Once he was off of Boundless, Meng Sang also let out a sigh of relief.
He believed that, out of everyone aboard Boundless, only Lu Yin himself and the former ruler of the Tianyuan Megaverse were capable of defeating him in a one-on-one fight. No matter how strong the others might be, Meng Sang was confident that he could defeat them all. However, there were simply too many of them. He could not defeat such numbers.
The feeling was similar as when he had previously visited the Primal Beastland. No, Boundless was even worse.
As Meng Sang stepped off of the battleship, he turned his head. Jiu Xian was drinking deeply from her wine jug, and she wiped her mouth clean before smiling at him.
Meng Sang stared at the woman for a long time before finally leaving.
Jiu Xian left with him.
On Boundless, Lu Yin returned to the secluded section where he had left Wu Wei. The Origin Progenitor stood nearby.
When he saw Lu Yin return, the Origin Progenitor silently left.
Lu Yin just looked at Wu Wei, not asking any questions or saying anything at all. He took a step forward, arrived within five meters of the conscient, and Possessed them again.
Lu Yin’s vision shifted, and he looked at himself as he started to review Wu Wei’s vast memories.
He immediately focused on the memories related to Heaven’s Blade, and information started to appear.
Some time later, Lu Yin’s mind returned to his own body, and he considered the memories that he had just accessed.
Heaven’s Blade had come from Willbound Spire.
Willbound Spire was the most mysterious and ancient place in the entire Consciousness Megaverse. No one knew its origins, only that it had already existed from the moment conscients first gained awareness.
Wu Wei was considered one of the oldest conscients in the Consciousness Megaverse, and also one of the strongest among the Thirteen Luminaries. Yet even Wu Wei had no knowledge whatsoever about where Willbound Spire came from.
Heaven’s Blade had originated from Willbound Spire, and even the name “Thirteen Luminaries” had come from that place.
Only those acknowledged by Willbound Spire would be accepted by the rest of the Thirteen Luminaries and allowed to take their place among them.
Within Wu Wei’s memories and speculations, one name had always been linked to Willbound Spire: the High Seraph.
For a long time, the Thirteen Luminaries had suspected that the High Seraph’s relentless incursions into the Consciousness Megaverse were not simply to eradicate the conscients, but also to find the Willbound Expanse, believed to be the home of Willbound Spire. Although the High Seraph had never shown any indication of knowing the place existed, the Thirteen Luminaries had always harbored that suspicion.
If not for that, the High Seraph’s strength was enough for him to have swept through the entire Consciousness Megaverse.
Resetting the Consciousness Megaverse was also within the man’s means.
Lu Yin had seen images of Willbound Spire in Wu Wei’s memories, but those images were related to Wu Wei’s personal memories and experiences. Each of the Thirteen Luminaries had received a different inheritance from Willbound Spire.
Even Lu Yin was tempted by what he saw.
At the same time, he started to wonder; since the Thirteen Luminaries were confident in ambushing and killing the High Seraph in the Willbound Expanse, could their confidence stem from something that they had obtained from Willbound Spire?
Lu Yin suddenly became much more interested in Ye Meng. Since that Luminary had allowed themselves to be captured and be taken to the Spirit Nidus to carry out the plan, they must also possess some critical information.
Wu Wei had been in the Spirit Nidus for too long, and his memories of the Consciousness Megaverse were from the distant past. Still, Lu Yin had obtained a reasonable understanding of that megaverse, including knowledge regarding the oldest of the Thirteen Luminaries.
In the end, memories were just memories. All that Lu Yin witnessed was Wu Wei’s experiences, and they could not be taken as pure fact.
For some time, Lu Yin had been unaware that the High Seraph had kept his Transcended Sequence Everlasting Will a secret. Even at the moment, no one knew the extent of what the High Seraph might still be keeping concealed. The only way for Lu Yin to know for sure was to Possess the man.
Of the Consciousness Megaverse’s Thirteen Luminaries, while the oldest one was not as powerful as the High Seraph, they still possessed the strength needed to fight back. According to Wu Wei’s impression of the ancient conscient, Lu Yin believed that they were approximately as powerful as him.
Lu Yin continued to peruse Wu Wei’s memories, but after several days, his head started to ache. Wu Wei had lived for too long, and they had a vast amount of memories, many of which were dull and boring. The sense of monotony had even transferred to Lu Yin, making him feel suffocated. He had no choice but to seal Wu Wei in the Champions' Stage Purgatory in order to get some fresh air.
Lu Yin left Boundless and went to visit the Daquan Doma. He hoped to find Yi Shang, even if the chances of success were extremely remote.
When Lu Yin arrived, he inspected the domain with his consciousness. As expected, Yi Shang was nowhere to be found.
However, there were a great number of conscients in the Daquan Domain, and they were all being bought and sold. Conscients had become the hottest commodity at the moment. They were in such high demand that they were almost entirely unavailable.
Lu Yin regretted not making another demand of the High Seraph. He should have asked for a ten percent cut from every transaction concerning conscients. Lu Yin was confident that the High Seraph would have agreed. Compared to the threat of the conscients hiding in the megaverse, mere spirit seeds were insignificant.
