Chapter 4081: Waiting For Someone
Chapter 4081: Waiting For Someone
Soon, Lu Yin withdrew his hand, and the megaverse grew calm again. Bai Xue’s blood had all burned away.
If he could not find Bai Qian, then so be it. The corpse was not guaranteed to be of use to him.
In the Tianyuan, a stunningly beautiful figure emerged from a misty hot spring in a certain parallel universe, her bare feet stepping onto the stones. Droplets fell from her hair, shimmering with rainbow light refracted from the sun. It was a breathtaking sight.
This woman was Bai Qian.
Mist curled around her body as she looked up at the stars. “I am no longer who I once was. I hope that we will meet again someday.”
Near the hot spring, a cloaked figure stood in the shadows, their back towards the sunlight. The mist that approached them froze into ice.
...
Another year passed by. In the Origin Universe’s Fifth Mainland and the Outerverse’s Tyrannical Weave, a surge of power shot up from a planet, ripping through the clouds as it shot into the stars. It was quickly followed by an ecstatic cry. “I finally broke through! I’m an Envoy now! Haha! I’ve done it!”
The celebration was immediately followed by an exasperated voice. “Shut up! You’re embarrassing Lord Fish! You’re only an Envoy, and yet you’re this happy? If word gets out, what will others think of Lord Fish? That Lord Fish’s pet is only an Envoy? Disgraceful! Utterly disgraceful!”
“But my cultivation is improving quite quickly. There are very few people who’ve managed to become Envoys at my age.”
“Shut up! It’s pathetic! You’re Lord Fish’s pet! Lord Fish, you hear me? After all these years of teaching, even a dumb bird would have broken into the Progenitor realm by now.”
“A dumb bird? Are you talking about the Divine Eagle?”
“Where? Is it here?”
“No. I was just asking if that’s who you were talking about.”
“Stop talking nonsense, idiot! If Lord Fish’s other pet weren’t so busy, you wouldn’t even have a place!”
“You don’t have any other pets- No, wait! We’re partners!”
“That Lu Yin kid is also Lord Fish’s pet.”
“Shh! Don’t say something so ridiculous! That’s Lord Lu, the ruler of our entire megaverse! He’s someone who can fight against Immortals. He’s humanity’s greatest powerhouse. You can’t say things like that!”
“Hmph, it’s an honor that Lord Fish allows him to be a pet.”
“Just stop talking! I’ve heard that Lord Lu wields karma. What if he finds out?”
“Look at how timid you are! Lord Fish said it himself, so what’s wrong with it? Lu Yin, Lu Yin, pet, pet...”
Suddenly, the voice started shouting loudly, “You dare try to cover Lord Fish’s mouth? Outrageous! Lord Fish will beat you!”
Pa!
Someone viciously shot towards the ground as a fish raced over. “Watch how Lord Fish teaches you a lesson!”
The figure struck the ground, shattering the earth nearby and triggering angry shouts from various onlookers.
“I’m sorry! Please excuse us! We’ll leave right away.”
“Girl, Lord Fish is here! Take another tail swat from Lord Fish-” Suddenly, the fish stopped and turned around, sniffing intensely.
“Hurry, let’s go! We’ve disturbed them and smashed their house.”
“Don’t move. What’s this smell? It’s so familiar...”
“Let me check. Ugh! It’s a latrine! Let’s go.”
“Don’t leave! Lord Fish likes this smell.”
“You- Let’s just go.”
“Lord Fish knows this smell... It’s so familiar. It should be here, but where? Girl, help Lord Fish find it! Lord Fish needs this smell.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll help you look, but let’s leave first.”
“We have to find it. This smell excites Lord Fish! Does it stink? It’s the worst, most pungent stench... We must find it!”
...
Not too far away, still within the Tyrannical Weave, Millions City was bustling. People had gathered in this city from all across the Fifth Mainland and various parallel universes to conduct business.
The streets were filled with all kinds of people, as well as creatures who did not look human at all.
The Fifth Mainland had become the center of the Tianyuan because it was the location of the Heavens Sect.
As the Outerverse’s commercial hub, Millions City naturally attracted countless people.
To gain a foothold in the city, one needed either sufficient strength or a connection within the Heavens Sect. Ideally, one would have both, which was the only way to ensure stability.
In the past, a person’s wealth in Millions City had been represented by a bracelet that they wore on their wrist, but in recent years, it was revealed by the height of one’s shop.
One shop towered so high that it surpassed the city lord’s mansion, serving as a landmark within Millions City and spurring on endless speculation regarding the owner.
After all, the Qiong family that ruled over Millions City was no ordinary clan. Qiong Xi'er had been one of the first to follow Lord Lu in his conquest of the Origin Universe, and she had long been hailed as a business genius. She had once been considered one of the three most brilliant minds in the entire Outerverse. While she rarely ever personally participated in the Heavens Sect’s battles and only done so later on, that was because she preferred to remain behind the scenes and oversee the logistics. Without her, the Heavens Sect could have never produced nearly so many weapons.
Her contributions were no less than Wei Rong’s.
The fact that someone was able to overshadow Qiong Xi’er’s family home made many curious about who owned the towering edifice.
Status was determined by others’ perception. While most did not recognize it, there were a few who could tell with but a glance who owned the building, as its shape made it clear: Astral Anura.
“My lord, this account has been settled.”
“Good, well done. Continue. Astral Anura will not treat you poorly.”
“Thank you, my lord.”
“What about the batch of ‘virtue’ flags? They’re for an important client.”
“They’re ready and only need to be delivered.”
“Wait, Emperor Slayer just contacted us. What? He wants us to leave them here in Millions City? That doesn’t sound right... Fine, fine, cancel the shipment and just leave them here.”
“Huh? My lord, what about the Qiong family?”
“Emperor Slayer says that he’s already given them notice.”
“Understood. I’ll see to it immediately.”
“Also, send word to continue production of those flags.”
“How many more?”
“There’s no limit, just keep making them. Heh, keeping a big client like this satisfied can keep us fed for a lifetime. Even if Astral Anura doesn’t like him, a client is still a client.”
“Understood, my lord.”
While watching his employees busy at work, Astral Anura stroked a copper coin that hung from his neck, a broad grin on his face.
Business and ever-flowing streams of wealth—this was his Dukkha. It did not matter who he conducted business with, so long as there was profit. That was all that mattered. One day, Astral Anura would enter the Immortal realm, and then he would teach those fools a harsh lesson. He would make sure they knew who truly ruled over them.
Hm?
Suddenly, Astral Anura looked deep into outer space, staring intently. What is that?
For a moment, something had seemed to draw his attention. It had been a strange yet indescribable sense of familiarity. Where did it come from?
Curious, he leapt into outer space, searching everywhere, but there was nothing. Even so, the familiar sensation only grew stronger.
...
Two years had passed by, but Master Qing Cao was still nowhere to be found. So long as he wished to remain hidden, he would not be found.
Lu Yin decided to make his way to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. There were certain matters that he needed to resolve there as well.
As for Progenitor Chen, he continued searching for Master Qing Cao, just as he had previously searched for Forgotten Ruins God. He refused to abandon Wang Xiaoyu.
...
In the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, a rushing river raced into the distance. A bamboo raft floated atop the current, drifting with the flow.
“Just where are you headed?” someone called from the riverbank, staring at the breathtakingly beautiful woman who was on the raft in fascination. He had never seen anyone so pure and otherworldly before.
She smiled at him. “I don’t know.”
“Come with me! I can take care of you!” the man called out. He had already gone with the river’s flow for half a year.
The woman looked at the man. “I’m waiting for someone.”
“Who?”
“I don’t know.”
“Then let me care for you.”
“I’m waiting for someone.”
“But you don’t even know who you’re waiting for.”
“I don’t need to know. When it’s time, he’ll appear. Somehow, I can just feel that I’ll meet him.” As she spoke, the woman looked down at the raft beneath her. She did not understand why she had made the raft, but it felt as though the person she was waiting for would also appear on a similar raft and meet her on the water.
The man on the riverbank finally gave up. He had seen the powerful affection in the woman’s eyes and knew that her affection would never be his.
...
In the Mother Tree’s canopy, Greater Sancte Green Lotus arrived on the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. “Were you looking for me?”
Awe Gate asked, “What’s going on with Blood Tower?”
Green Lotus shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Awe Gate’s expression grew heavy. “I can’t shake a feeling of unease.”
At that moment, Ku Deng arrived in the terrace as well. He was equally curious about Blood Tower’s whereabouts. Unfortunately, the Aevum Inch was far too vast. The entire human civilization took up only the smallest of corners, and even Immortals struggled to glimpse the entire expanse.
“Have you cultivated the Nirvana Tree Path?” Green Lotus asked as he studied Awe Gate.
She nodded, causing Ku Deng to marvel. “You dared to take the first step for the world. Very admirable.”
“I merely didn’t want Senior Mi Jin’s spirit seed to go to waste,” Awe Gate replied.
...
Lu Yin sat on a green lotus leaf, traveling from the Tianyuan to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. The entire journey took about one year.
Upon returning to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, Lu Yin once more gazed at the massive, familiar form of the Mother Tree. He felt as though he had lived in two completely different eras.
Green Lotus, Awe Gate, and Ku Deng gathered to welcome him.
“To be welcomed by you three seniors like this, I’m truly overwhelmed,” Lu Yin said with a smile.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus chuckled. “Our Nine Odysseys Megaverse will treat you just the same as your own Tianyuan.”
Awe Gate added, “We hope that you won’t forget our Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”
Lu Yin was left speechless. “Senior, you’re putting too much pressure on me. Given that all of you Immortal seniors are here, how could the Nine Odysseys Megaverse ever need my protection?”
Master Ku Deng smiled. “I believe that the day will come when you surpass us all, Lord Lu.”
Lu Yin had no words.
After a few more niceties, Greater Sancte Green Lotus led Lu Yin to the Sea of Karma. There were certain matters that needed to be completed there.
Upon arriving in the Sea of Karma, Lu Yin saw the broken stone wall and felt embarrassed. He was then led to the lotus pond, which left him even more embarrassed.
“Wait a bit. They are bathing.”
Lu Yin twitched. “Senior, isn’t this a rather inappropriate time to come?”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus smiled at him. “You can go in.”
Lu Yin stared at his nose and pointed his nose at his heart, not saying a word.
Before long, people exited the lotus pond. They stood before Greater Sancte Green Lotus and Lu Yin. At that moment, Lu Yin’s eyes lit up, as the entire world seemed to brighten.
The Seven Fairies were celestial maidens who were desired by countless people in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Marrying any one of them would net even greater prestige than becoming one of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s nominal disciples. The alliances that the women were connected to were enough to allow any man to soar.
Unfortunately, those who sought to elevate their status by marrying one of the Seven Fairies were precisely the men who were unworthy of them.
Lu Yin had already met six of the Seven Fairies. The only one he had not met in person yet was the third, the one not from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
That caused Lu Yin to be particularly curious about the woman, and a single glance told him which one she was.
This was not even because he had already met the other six, but rather because the Third Fairy’s clothes were far too striking. All of her clothing was bright red.
