The result, though, was that the drone corps and mutated creature corps it sent to destroy the World Tree not only failed to take it quickly, not only failed to win it any face, they even started calling back for reinforcements.

They were being beaten so hard by humans they’d always looked down on that they had to request reinforcements!

This was basically a wild flurry of slaps right across the leader’s face!

If this news got out, the leader might as well not have a face anymore; the voices opposing it would probably shoot straight through the sky.

No—more likely, the news had already gotten out.

So, in that situation, the humiliated and furious leader personally leading four giant ships to war could sort of be understood.

It didn’t just want to kill Xu Xin and the others; more likely, it wanted to claw back some face, and also...

Show off its muscles.

It was showing its weapons to those who opposed it, telling them that four giant ships were under its control, and if they wanted to rebel, they’d better think twice.

Of course, it had also scared Xu Xin and the others half to death.

"Yes. That’s what the monster figured." Wen Guixin nodded. "I think it makes a certain amount of sense too."

"So, if we follow this line of reasoning..."

Xu Xin came to a halt.

The others all stopped as well.

A few more steps and they would be under the canopy of the alien invaders’ World Tree.

"Right now, the alien invaders’ base is emptier than it has ever been. That much... we can confirm, can’t we?" Xu Xin narrowed his eyes.

"I think we can." Xu Ying nodded. "This is the best opportunity in a thousand years!"

The place where Ji Chaoyang and the others were now fighting for their lives was the underground space of their World Tree.

The monster had already told them which World Tree the Scarlet Crystals were in.

It was this one right in front of them.

And the monster had also given them a method to enter this World Tree.

"Move out, right now." Xu Xin looked around at the others. "Don’t mess up the tasks you’re responsible for."
