Chapter 2847: It’s still Monday
Chapter 2847: It’s still Monday
Right after breakfast, Satsuki left for school ahead of us. It’s because of the club’s practice. However, she was so reluctant to leave that when I told her she could stay so we could go to school together, she tugged at her hair as if she was so conflicted on whether to accept my suggestion or not.
In the end, the girl jumped into my arms before saying, “Forget it. I know how busy you will be this morning, checking on those girls from the other school.”
Yep. My considerate trait truly rubbed off on her. Now, she’s also considering the fact that my attention would be split between her and the other girls who didn’t have the same opportunity to sleep over.
Still, my stubborn trait also came up, so... I walked her to the station even though she was refusing it. By the time we separated, the girl had a satisfied smile on her lips. But she pretended to be grumpy again by pumping her fist up when I watched her through the window as the train started rolling out of the platform.
Mhm. No matter what everyone says, my Satsuki is just so adorable.
Another hour later, Akane and I left the house. Miwa-nee told us to bring an umbrella as there’s another rainfall warning around the end of school hours.
On our way to the train station, I received a message from Tsubame. She told me she’s going back to school after summer vacation. After all, the bruise on her forehead was still quite fresh.
They returned last night from her aunt’s place.
According to her, her aunt truly gave her father a deserved scolding for getting the girl hurt. Although he wanted to kneel and apologize more for doing it, they let him off by telling him to stop drinking so much.
Unfortunately, it was also last night that her father received a call last night from a company he applied to weeks ago, telling him they’re not pushing through for him and they selected another candidate for the position.
My father told me he’ll call if he finds someone who’s looking to hire for a position that Tsubame’s father is qualified for.
My mother also said the same, but since her connections are mostly those bigshots who employed her services as a security specialist, she’ll probably not get anyone anytime soon, unless she calls in a favor.
And knowing her excitement when she learned that it’s related to another potential ‘daughter-in-law’, she was more than eager to produce results.
Ah. Speaking of my parents, it seems they’re planning to travel again. This week. But only for a few days. They’re going to visit our house later to ask Miwa-nee if they can bring Minoru.
As for where, they’re going up north, I guess? My father is being sent there to meet someone important. I don’t know how important it is, though. I mean, I’m still not trying to pry with the full scope of his job in the government.
But I can put up a guess that it won’t be something complicated since my mother wants to bring her grandchild with her. She’s the type who won’t leave my father’s side if there’s even a hint of danger, after all.
Upon arriving at the station, we were joined by Eimi. She was waiting at the entrance with Anzu-nee.
Mhm. The older girl used her tiny motorcycle to give her younger cousin a ride here.
We greeted both of them while I held myself back from pulling them both into my embrace. We were in an open space, after all. But still, I sneakily squeezed their hand, earning me their most affectionate smile.
Well, Anzu-nee acted indifferent at first but then, she sneakily handed me a small lunchbox before saying ‘It’s not lunch. That’s just a snack. Eimi and I prepared it together. It’s meatball sandwiches. Share it with the others if you want.’
Yeah. This kind of gesture always made me feel so lucky. To have these thoughtful girls all for me, who wouldn’t?
Eimi then added a teasing saying Anzu-nee worked extra hard for it to truly match my taste by tasting them over and over until she perfected it.
As a result, Anzu-nee jumped at her cousin before warning me not to say anything as she blushed.
I let Akane and Eimi enter the station first, using the excuse of seeing Anzu-nee off. They both meaningfully smiled, understanding what I meant to do.
With that, I grabbed Anzu-nee’s hand as we walked away from the entrance until I found an obscure corner that could give us a little privacy.
It was tucked behind a pillar near the emergency stairs, shielded from the main flow of morning commuters by a vending machine and the curve of the wall. We could still hear the rumble of the station’s air conditioning mixed with the distant noise of an incoming train, but no one was looking this way. Not yet.
Pressing her against the wall, I didn’t waste a moment to lift her chin and claim her lips.
The girl squirmed only for a second before fully accepting me. Her eyes gradually closed as her arms gradually slipped to my back, pulling me flush against her.
“Shameless brat... we’re literally only a few dozen steps from the entrance,” She complained as our lips separated, but the warmth of her breath told me enough how much it affected her.
“I know. That’s why I don’t want to waste any time. Treat this as me bidding you ‘have a nice day at college’,” I replied before sealing her lips again.
Our kiss went deeper to the point that she eventually gasped for breath. But then, Anzu pinched my cheek before saying, “My day is already perfect upon seeing you... Yet you still made it better.”
“Mhm. Happy to be of service. If that guy shows up again, just show him a photo of us kissing.”
“You idiot! Why will I do that?! It’s... embarrassing. And he doesn’t deserve my explanation.”
With that, Anzu-nee and I walked back to the entrance and next to her parked motorcycle.
She put on her helmet and climbed up on it.
“Take care, shameless brat. See you tomorrow.”
I nodded and watched her disappear into the road before turning around and rejoining Akane and Eimi.
Eimi looked at me with a pout but she didn’t say anything. Of course, I could understand what she’s thinking. She’s a little jealous that her cousin got that treatment.
And so, we specifically waited for an empty train car before boarding. And before it got filled with other passengers, I gave her my morning greeting. Just that, it’s not as intense as what Anzu and I shared outside.
On the next stop, Fuyu, Eri and Futaba joined us. Since there were no seats left, I offered mine to Fuyu, who pulled me up and then boldly sneaked in her own morning greeting. As if she’s proving to Akane and Eimi that she’s not going to lose out when it comes to me.
Eri, my supposed girl best friend, was speechless at that. She looked at me like I had just corrupted the purest of their group. But then, her usual teasing smile returned before whispering, “Ruki, you better be careful. If any of the boys finds out that you bagged Fuyu too, they’ll go and challenge you.”
I responded with a slightly smug expression, “Challenge me? They don’t have the qualifications.”
Futaba, who was listening from the side, rolled her eyes from that exchange.
When the train car became even more crowded at the next stop, I ended up getting sandwiched between them right in front of Akane, Fuyu and Eimi.
As though she was trying her best to appear guilty, Futaba shifted a bit to the side to evade Akane and Fuyu’s gaze. But upon doing so, she ended up facing me instead.
Once our gazes met, the girl cowered once more as she seemed to shrink a bit. But I acted normally, holding her up so that she wouldn’t be pushed away from us.
“Relax, Futaba. It’s still Monday.” I whispered to her, which earned me a glare from her.
“I know that... I just... Ugh. Forget it. Am I being obvious?” She asked, matching the volume of my voice.
Perhaps if Akane and Fuyu could see her face at the moment, they’d find her blushing.
That’s how obvious she was. I mean, after setting that ‘next session’ up, I can understand why she’s feeling awkward at the moment.
Luckily for her, her boyfriend isn’t around. Eri’s boyfriend is also absent. Maybe they got stuck in another train car.
“Hmm? What are you two whispering about?” Suddenly, Eri seemed to catch on to the shift in Futaba’s expression almost immediately.
Her sharp eyes flicked between us with that signature mischievous glint she always wore when she smelled something juicy.
“You two look way too cozy for a Monday morning commute. Spill it, Ruki. What’s got Futaba turning red like a tomato?”
Futaba stiffened slightly as she wobbled slightly when the train swayed around a curve. Because of that, I had to tighten my grip on her and properly hold her up by sliding my arm around her.
She shot me a quick glare before turning to Eri, “It’s nothing, Eri. Just... Ruki being Ruki. You know how he is.”
