Stolen Identity: Mute Heiress

Chapter 416: Naughty

Chapter 416: Naughty

As Callan stepped under the shower, the water ran over his body and steam filled the space.

His eyes were closed as he showered, but when he heard the door open, he turned immediately and opened his eyes in time to see Emily walk in, stark naked.

He froze. "What are you doing in here?"

She smirked. "Do I look like I came here to cook? I want to bathe with you of course."

He shook his head. "You know that’s a bad idea."

"Why?" She asked as she stepped closer. "I think it’s a very good idea. We get to conserve water."

"You know what I mean," Callan said.

"We don’t have to do anything," she said softly.

He ran a hand through his wet hair. "You’re making this hard."

Emily giggled as she looked down at his erection. "Yeah. I can see just how hard it is."

Callan glared at her though there was no much heat in it, "I don’t mean that!"

She laughed again. "Of course, I know that too."

"Emily Williams," He groaned.

"You make it hard on me too. It’s okay if we can’t have sex now, but you can’t deprive me of closeness," She said as she stepped under the water with him.

He closed his eyes briefly.

"How do you plan to cope without sex for such a long time?" Emily asked as she reached for the shower gel.

He looked at her. "It will be easier to cope if you don’t seduce me every chance you get."

Emily tilted her head and gave him a playful look. "And it will be easier for me to behave if we’re not living under the same roof."

Callan let out a short laugh. "That’s not my fault."

"It is," she said quickly. "You’re the one who agreed to let me stay with you despite knowing how crazy I am about you."

He shook his head, still smiling. "First of all, I didn’t know you felt that way. Secondly, if I didn’t let you stay, we wouldn’t be here right now."

She turned to face him, a small grin on her lips. "Exactly my point."

He shook his head. "No. That’s not what I meant."

"Whatever you meant," she said with a shrug, still smiling.

Callan ran a hand over his face, water dripping from his hair. "I can’t believe we’re having this kind of conversation in the shower this early in the morning."

Emily grinned. "We’re supposed to be doing more than talking."

He stared at her for a second, then shook his head again, but there was a soft smile on his lips.

"I love you," he said quietly.

Her face changed at once. The teasing eased out of her eyes. "I love you too."

For a second, they just stood there, close, quiet.

Then she spoke again, lighter this time. "Do you think we should just elope and get married?"

Callan laughed. "Our parents would kill us."

She raised a brow. "You’re still worried about them?"

He shook his head. "No, I mean they would actually kill us if we did it secretly. Not that they’d mind us getting married."

She smiled. "Especially your parents. You’re their only son."

"That’s after your dad kills me for not letting him walk his precious princess down the aisle."

They both laughed softly.

Callan looked at her, "I won’t marry you secretly, Em. You deserve way better than that. I want it to be a society wedding."

Her face flushed with pleasure as she grinned. "Okay then. I guess you will have to deal with me seducing you every chance I get."

"I’ll try," he said. "Will you come with me to therapy when you’re done with work for the day?" he asked.

She blinked. "You have your sessions that late?"

He shrugged. "Privacy."

"I see." She nodded. "Sure. I’ll go with you. Now let’s hurry. Breakfast is getting cold."

A short while later, they were both ready and sat at the dining to eat.

"So, what story are you working on right now?" He asked curiously.

Emily grinned. "Well, a romance story."

"Medical romance?" Callan asked curiously.

"Nah. Something different. My editor suggested I do something more ordinary. So it’s just a story about a girl who auctions off her virginity on a website to save her grandmother’s life and her house. The bidder turns out to be a blind man. He takes her virginity and unfortunately her grandmother dies that same night..."

"That’s sad," Callan said as he sipped from his coffee.

"Want to know what’s worse? Two weeks later when she resumes at her new office she realizes he is her new boss," Emily said with a grin.

"Well, I expected that. Isn’t that how all romance stories go?" Callan said, "and let me guess, he miraculously regains his sight before the end of the story, right?"

Emily giggled, "Not exactly. He wasn’t blind to begin with. He was only pretending to be blind."

Emily laughed out loud when Callan gave her an incredulous look.

"For real?"

"Yeah. And he also turns out to be her twin sister’s fiancé."

"You didn’t say anything about her having a twin sister from the beginning. Where did she come from?"

Emily smiled. "Well, that’s part of the story. And if you were reading the book directly you’d know." Emily glanced at her watch. "we need to hurry. I don’t want to be late."

Callan raised a brow. "Are you done with the story? What happened then?" He asked, making her grin.

"I’ll tell you later," she said as she stuffed her toast into her mouth.

Callan groaned. "I’m invested already. You can’t just stop now."

"I’ll tell you in the car. Did you talk to Jamal and Stefan?" She asked, changing the subject.

Callan sighed when he remembered his phone call with Jamal and Stefan and told her about it and how weird it was.

"Maybe they’re still in shock," Emily said when he was done.

He nodded slowly. "Maybe," he said, but he didn’t believe it.

Before they could say anything else, his phone buzzed on the table and his eyes skipped a beat the moment his eyes fell on it and he saw it was Cindy.

He declined the call immediately and turned the phone face down on the table.

Emily raised a brow, wondering who it was and why he declined the call.

Was it one of the girls from his past? Why did he decline the call when he could have just answered it in front of her? Was he hiding something new from her?

When Callan looked up and saw Emily watching him, he forced a smile. "We should get going if you’re done," he said, hoping she wouldn’t ask him who the caller was.

Although Emily was curious, she decided not to ask him who it was, since it was obvious he didn’t want to tell her about it.

She nodded and rose.

As they drove to the hospital, Callan noticed that Emily had become cold and was no longer smiling or chatting with him.

"You promised to tell me about the story on our way," he reminded her after a moment.

"You promised not to keep any more secrets from me and to be open," she said before she could stop herself.

"I’m not..."

"Who called you earlier? And why didn’t you take the call?" She asked, cutting him off before he could deny that he was keeping secrets.

Callan sighed. "Telling you about it is not the issue. It is how you’d feel that’s the issue..."

"Isn’t that the same thing that kept us apart all these years? Didn’t you stay away because you were worried about how I’d feel about your background? Where did that get us?" Emily asked impatiently. "Am I wasting my time with you, Cal? Is this whole thing we are doing right now going to be a waste of time?"

"No. No. Of course not," he said.

"Then stop worrying about my feeling and tell me what I need to know."

He sighed. "That was Cindy. The girl that showed up unannounced and fought with you. She said she’s not going to let me go and if I walk away from her she will make sure to tarnish my image."

"When did she say that?" Emily asked curiously.

"That night after I made the call in front of you. She called back while you were freshening up."

Emily looked at him in disbelief, "And you didn’t think to tell me?"

"You were upset! At what point could I have brought that up that night?"

"Maybe when I was lying down next to you in bed!" She snapped. "Or in the morning when we were having breakfast or on our way to work. You had lots of chances to tell me if you wanted to. But I guess you didn’t."

Callan said nothing.

"What is your plan, Cal? To date us both?"

"You know that’s not possible. I can’t do something like that," Callan protested.

"I highly doubt that considering the number of ladies you broke up with at the same time," Emily muttered.

"What we have is different," Callan said through gritted teeth.

"It doesn’t feel that way. Not when you hide things like this from me," Emily said and Callan sighed but said nothing.

When they got to the hospital, he parked the car in front of the building.

Emily didn’t get out immediately. "Can you handle it? Can you end things amicably with her?"

"It’s not a matter of can or not. I will. And even if she tarnishes my image I’ll just have to accept it as the consequence for my actions," he said, and Emily exhaled.

"Okay. I’ll let you handle it. But no more secrets. You have to tell me whatever happens," she said.

"Yeah. I will," he nodded, then added, "Thank you. I love you."

Emily smiled. "I love you too. Have a lovely day," she said, leaning forward to kiss his lips.

Callan watched as she got out of the car.

She shut the door and leaned down slightly. "Text me when you get to the office," she said.

He nodded. "I will."

She smiled once more, then turned and walked into the hospital.
