Chapter 476: Bridal Shower
Chapter 476: Bridal Shower
For the next several minutes, laughter echoed through the drawing room.
Mari had prepared a bowl filled with folded pieces of paper.
“Each paper contains a question,” she explained as she held the bowl in front of Genevieve. “You pick one. Read it out loud. Then answer.”
Genevieve narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “How many am I to answer?”
“As many as I tell you to,” Mari replied without missing a beat.
Everyone laughed.
Genevieve reached into the bowl and picked the first paper.
Mari folded her arms. “Read.”
Genevieve opened it and a blush stole up her cheeks as she skimmed over it.
“Oh no,” Genevieve muttered after reading it.
The ladies immediately leaned forward in anticipation.
“What?” Dawn asked.
“Read it!” Emily urged.
Genevieve laughed helplessly before reading the question aloud.
“What’s Stefan’s favourite part of you?”
“Seeing how you blushed, I guess it’s not your eyes or your heart,” Jade said dryly, and everyone laughed.
“He loves my ass,” Genevieve said, and Mari checked her phone for the answer.
“Wrong! He loves your eyes. He says they’re very expressive,” Mari said with a grin.
“Unbelievable! After that tearjerking love declaration, you failed the first question?” She asked, making everyone laugh, while Genevieve covered her face with embarrassment.
“Let’s give you another chance to prove yourself. Pick another paper,” Mari urged her.
Genevieve looked at the bowl carefully before picking another paper.
She giggled as she read it out loud. “What is Stefan’s favourite breakfast? The answer is me.”
Everyone gasped dramatically as they turned to Mari for confirmation.
“Queens and ladies, our bride got it… right! Stefan’s favourite breakfast is a dish called Genevieve! Apparently, the man has no interest in toasts and eggs,” she said, making everyone burst into laughter.
Mari shook her head dramatically.
“I don’t know whether to congratulate you or be concerned for Stefan.”
More laughter filled the room.
“Next question!”
Genevieve reached into the bowl again. She unfolded another slip of paper.
“What is Stefan’s favourite colour on you?”
“This one is easy,” she said confidently. “Red.”
Mari looked at her phone, then burst into laughter.
“He actually wrote, ‘Genny’s skin is my favourite colour. It should be a colour, you know?'”
The room erupted into loud laughter.
“Our own calm Stefan said that?” Jade asked incredulously.
“That guy is obsessed,” Sonia said, and Genevieve blushed while everyone laughed.
The game continued in the same cheerful spirit.
Every correct answer earned loud applause. Every wrong answer earned exaggerated gasps.
By the end, Genevieve had answered almost everything correctly.
Mari sighed dramatically. “Alright. That’s enough before Stefan starts wondering why we’re exposing him.”
Everyone laughed.
“I tried my best to stop this wedding. But unfortunately…” Mari raised Genevieve’s hand into the air. “…the bride actually knows the groom.”
Genevieve laughed as everyone applauded.
The second game involved guessing romantic movie quotes.
The third, Mari insisted, everyone recreate Genevieve’s shocked expression from the proposal night.
The result was so ridiculous that nobody could stop laughing.
Even Emily, who had complained about being tired, had completely forgotten she was exhausted.
Mari clapped her hands once more.
“Alright, ladies. Since our bride has successfully proven she knows her future husband, it’s time for the rest of us to prove something.”
Jessica laughed. “And what’s that?”
Mari pointed around the room with the microphone. “That true love and happily ever after exist.”
She grinned.
“I want every married woman here to tell us how she got engaged. The singles need to know how high to set the bar.”
Emily folded her arms. “Well, my boyfriend has no problem with bars. He’s the bar himself.”
Mari looked at her. “Yeah. Boyfriend. Not fiancé.”
“Ouch!” Dawn said playfully, and the room burst into laughter.
“Well then,” Delilah said with a smile. “Who wants to go first?”
“Let’s go in the order of our proposals,” Lucy suggested, and they went in that order.
“Does that mean Jade and Delilah got engaged on Lucy’s wedding day?” Dawn asked with interest when Delilah was sharing her story.
“Yep. But I got married before Jade, though,” Delilah said proudly.
Jade rolled her eyes. “Only because Harry insisted we do couple counselling and stuff.”
“You did couple counselling? Why? Were you having problems? Did the counselling help?” Emily asked, and Jade smiled.
“Of course, it helped. If it didn’t, I wouldn’t be married to Harry, would I? It helped me in learning to trust Harry. I used to have serious trust issues. I’m glad we did it. And we had an exceptional therapist,” Jade said with a friendly smile.
Before Emily could ask another question, Mari clapped her hands. “Focus, queens! Every topic should revolve around our bride. If it doesn’t concern her, leave it for later.”
Everyone laughed as Mari redirected the conversations again.
Nearly two hours passed in what felt like minutes as they ate, drank, and had fun.
Pictures were taken constantly, group selfies with both funny and elegant poses.
“I think it’s time for our married Queens to give the bride some wisdom.”
“We will start from the Queen who has been married the longest,” Mari said, and Sonia fanned herself proudly as she rose and held out a hand for the mic.
Before she could speak, Lucy and the others laughed.
“Sony, please behave,” Lucy advised.
“Behave? Of course, I behave. Isn’t that why I’m your senior marital wise?” She asked sweetly as she took the mic from Mari.
She smiled at Genevieve, “Listen well, Genny, never stop being a bad bitch. Don’t become good and boring, okay? Make sure you remain his favourite breakfast. Keep flirting with him, and keep your sex life active. There will be days when you’re exhausted, or when you can’t do it due to health reasons. You can definitely take a break then. But make sure you keep being your sexy self. Make sure every time you walk past he wants to tap that ass.”
Genevieve giggled. “I will. Thank you.”
“How did I know that was exactly the kind of advice you’d give?” Lucy asked, laughing.
“We all knew she would say that,” Delilah said, and Sonia and all the others laughed.
“It’s not exactly bad advice though,” Jessica said, and Emily nodded.
“Of course. You’d say that considering the number of siblings I have,” Emily said dryly, making Jessica and all the others laugh.
“A round of applause for Aunt Sonia,” Mari announced.
Everyone clapped as Sonia passed the mic to Lucy.
Lucy rose as she took the mic, “I’m going to keep it simple.”
