Stolen Identity: Mute Heiress

Chapter 482: Slumber Party

Chapter 482: Slumber Party

The following evening arrived much faster than anyone expected.

The Hanks mansion buzzed with excitement.

Fresh flowers lined the hallways. Garment bags hung neatly inside bedrooms. Wedding boxes sat on tables waiting to be loaded into cars the next morning.

It felt as though the entire house was holding its breath.

Tomorrow, Genevieve and Stefan would finally become husband and wife.

Across town, Stefan drove through the evening traffic as he headed for the venue of his bachelor’s party.

A smile hadn’t left his face all day since he took Genevieve to see an obstetrician, and it was officially confirmed that he was going to be a dad.

“So…” Genevieve’s voice came through the speakers. “Have you ever been to one of the Gentlemen Club bachelor nights before?”

Stefan chuckled. “Of course. I have over twenty of those. The transition from bachelorhood is a big deal in the club.”

“And?”

“And I can assure you that you have absolutely nothing to worry about.”

Genevieve smiled. “I wasn’t worried. I was asking how the parties usually go.”

“Oh? I thought brides are usually uncomfortable about their grooms’ bachelor’s eve?”

She giggled. “I suppose they are. But some of the most awesome men I know are going to be there, so I’m perfectly fine.”

Stefan laughed. “Does that mean you have more faith in them than you do in me?”

She laughed too. “No. It simply means I trust your association. And you’re among the most awesome men I know. The top on the list actually.”

He smiled to himself. “I’ll take that.”

“Yeah. You should.”

For a few moments, neither of them said anything. Although they’d been talking every chance they got all day, neither of them seemed eager to end the call.

Then Stefan smiled. “Do you realise something?”

“What?”

“By this time tomorrow, you’ll be my wife.” He shook his head in disbelief.

Genevieve’s smile widened. She could hear the awe in his voice. Even she couldn’t believe it.

“I know.”

He laughed softly. “And by this time tomorrow, we’ll be on our way out of the country.”

“Our honeymoon,” she said dreamily.

“Our honeymoon,” he repeated.

“I can’t wait.”

“Neither can I.”

Silence settled comfortably between them.

Then Genevieve remembered something. “By the way…”

“Hmm?”

“Did you finally make the down payment for the place we chose?”

Stefan sighed. “Not yet.”

Genevieve’s smile faded. “Why?”

“The realtor suddenly stopped returning my calls.”

“What?”

He nodded. “I’m hoping he isn’t trying to sell it to someone else. I’d be really pissed.”

Genevieve frowned. “I hope not.” She leaned back against the bed. “I really want that house.”

“So do I.”

She smiled softly. “I’ve already imagined our kids running around the garden I intend to grow there.”

Stefan laughed. “You’re growing a garden?”

She giggled. “Of course. I even imagined where we’d put the swing.”

Stefan smiled warmly. “Speaking of children…” His voice became noticeably softer. “How’s our baby doing?”

Genevieve laughed before absent-mindedly placing a hand over her stomach. “Our baby is doing very well.”

“I’m glad.” He smiled. “I hope you’re taking things easy. Do not stress yourself.”

She rolled her eyes playfully. “Stefan.”

“What?”

“What stressful thing exactly do you think I can possibly be doing inside this house?”

He laughed. “I don’t know. You always find something when you’re bored.”

She giggled. “I promise I’m behaving. Besides, I’m no longer bored. I spent most of the time reading up on stuff about pregnancy and motherhood.”

“Good.”

Just then, a knock sounded on the bedroom door.

Genevieve looked up. “Come in.”

The door opened, and Dawn stepped inside, wearing red pajamas and a mysterious smile.

“What are you doing hiding in here?”

Genevieve laughed. “I’m talking to my soon-to-be husband.”

“You guys have been on the phone all day. Come on, you have guests.”

Genevieve blinked. “What guests?”

Dawn nodded. “You have to come downstairs to see them. If I tell you, it won’t be a surprise anymore.”

Genevieve narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “What surprise are you planning this time?”

Dawn only smiled. “You’ll see.”

Genevieve laughed before bringing the phone back toward her.

“Babe, I have to go. Dawn has something planned again. I have no idea what it is, but I won’t be surprised if you know.”

Stefan chuckled. “Have fun.”

“You too. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

His smile softened. “No.”

She frowned. “What do you mean no?”

“I won’t just see you tomorrow. I’ll marry you tomorrow.”

She laughed happily. “Yeah. Make sure you enjoy your bachelor night and send me photos.”

“You too. Enjoy whatever those ladies are planning and send me photos.”

“I’ll try.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

The call ended.

Genevieve smiled as she turned to face Dawn, who was standing by the door patiently.

“Am I decent?” Genevieve asked as she got off the bed.

“Yeah. Come on,” Dawn urged.

Genevieve followed Dawn out of the room, and the moment she stepped downstairs, she paused and started laughing when she saw Mari and Emily standing at the foot of the stairs, wearing the same matching red silky pyjamas Dawn was also wearing.

The moment Mari and Emily saw her, Mari proudly held up a beautiful white silk pyjama dress.

Dawn joined Mari and Emily, and all three stood together in their uniform singing dramatically.

“Here comes the bride…”

Genevieve burst into laughter. “Oh, my goodness. What are you all doing?”

Emily grinned mischievously. “What does it look like?”

Mari held out the white pyjamas. “Your uniform for tonight.”

Genevieve accepted it, still laughing. “You all are unbelievable.”

“We know,” Dawn said proudly.

Dawn pointed dramatically towards Genevieve. “Tonight is your bachelorette night.”

Mari nodded enthusiastically. “And unlike yesterday…”

Emily wiggled her eyebrows.

“…tonight you are going to tell us every single dirty detail you conveniently skipped.”

Genevieve covered her face. “I cannot believe the three of you.”

“We can,” Dawn replied.

Genevieve laughed helplessly.

She suddenly looked around, then at Dawn. Wait. Where’s Josh?”

Dawn smiled. “If you had not been so engrossed in your conversation with your soon-to-be, you would have known he left with Jamal already. Jamal dropped him off at his mum’s house.”

She spread her hands. “So… We have the whole night to ourselves for a slumber party.”

“Genny, you should know that I had an entirely different bachelorette party planned. Not this slumber party.”

Genevieve raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”

Mari nodded seriously. “There was going to be music, dancing, and even alcohol.”

Dawn nodded. “That was the initial plan.”

Mari paused dramatically. “…and male strippers.”

Genevieve gasped in disbelief.

Emily laughed so hard she had to lean against Dawn.

Mari pointed accusingly at Genevieve’s stomach. “But someone decided to get pregnant and ruined all my beautiful plans.”

Genevieve laughed until tears welled up in her eyes. “I’m very glad I got pregnant then.”

Mari pretended to look offended. “You don’t appreciate my hard work. I thought you’d appreciate the effort as a fellow baddie.”

Genevieve hugged her. “Thank you, Mari.” Then when she pulled back, she smiled wickedly. “When it’s your turn, I’ll return the favour, baddie to baddie.”

Mari gasped dramatically. “Is it just me or did that sound like a threat?”

“It absolutely was,” Dawn agreed.

Emily laughed. “Yeah. It sounded like a threat.”

The four women laughed together.

Genevieve looked around curiously. “So… Where exactly are we having this party?”

“The den,” Dawn answered.

Emily nodded excitedly. “We’re going to gossip, dance, watch movies, eat unhealthy food, and then sleep there.”

“Feel free to tell us when you feel exhausted and need to go to sleep. Stef said we must not stress his babies.”

Genevieve giggled. “So, he did know about this.”

“Of course, he did,” Dawn said as she linked one arm through Genevieve’s, “Enough questions. The party won’t start itself.”

Emily took Genevieve’s other arm as they all headed for the den.

Mari skipped ahead dramatically. “Come on, ladies! The bride’s final girls’ night before marriage officially begins!”

Laughing together, the four women headed towards the den, their voices echoing through the house as another unforgettable night began.
