Chapter 10 – You are loved, Ines
I tried to present a fresh self to gain favor with Alessia-san and the others, but Ines denied that it was creepy. The next time, I tried to be a serious-type nice guy, but I changed my mind and decided to start working hard tomorrow because of the situation with the ladies in swimsuits. I did my best to enjoy the ladies in their swimsuits. It was fun. It was a lot of fun.
“We will soon be in the open sea near the Aquamarine Kingdom, so please get ready to change to the Lutto.”
Alessia-san and the others returned to their rooms to get ready with a look of understanding.
Felicia was moving with them, so she would pack my things as well. Then the problem is Ines, who is still lying on the table and is in a full-blown, discontented mood.
“Ines, I think it’s time for you to get in a better mood again.”
“I don’t want to!”
She turned her face, which was glued to the table, to the other side. She sulks like a schoolgirl.
I often wonder about Ines. What does it mean to be a slave?
I feel like I should scold her as her master, but it’s hard for me because I have my own faults.
“Ines, you can’t prolong our arrival by sulking here, okay?”
“Well, at least shorten our stay. You originally wanted to leave quickly and return quickly. Then we’ll send my mother and the others back to the Castle as soon as possible. Then you can stay in the Aquamarine Kingdom for a long time after that!”
Do you really hate spending more time with your family… your mother, Bella-san, that much?
Well, Bella-san is strict, so I can’t say I don’t understand that feeling, but the cause is Ines, who fell into slavery because of her gambling.
If her daughter had done something like that, it would be natural for her to focus on re-educating her as a mother. I think it’s rather unusual for her father, Carlo-san, who didn’t get too angry, and her younger brother, Dario-kun.
“I don’t know how Ines feels, but I don’t think Bella-san and Flora-san are ready to move out, and you know it’s a waste of time to make an extra trip back and forth between the Aquamarine Kingdom and the Castle, right?”
In general, aside from Flora-san, it was promised that Bella-san and the others would be confirmed to work on the Castle in six months, wasn’t it?
Well, it can’t be helped that my impression was that it was definitely confirmed. But I have a feeling that Ines will be scratching her feet again when that time comes.
“Mmーー.”
I know, but I can’t convince her. When I told her that we were going to move up our trip to the Aquamarine Kingdom, she was incredibly upset.
Originally, I was only going to pick up Bella-san and the others on the appointed day, just as Ines had said.
In the Aquamarine Kingdom, Mage-sama was being treated like a hero, and I was also attracting the attention of nobles and merchants who wanted to take advantage of me, so I didn’t want to stay extra time and provoke a troublesome partner.
But things have changed, Ines.
After a few days of naming the Grandiosa the Chateau, we enjoyed the new luxury liner as much as we could.
Ines complimented me on my good-natured moves, which weren’t too bad. I was proud of them, too.
And if we were to enjoy the luxury liner to the fullest, we would have to go to church.
Of course, the church on the Chateau was also a sanctuary. That was understandable since it was the Creator God.
However, an unforeseen event occurred during the prayer.
I had originally bought a new luxury liner, and I was praying to the God of Light-sama, expecting to be called to the divine realm and to be told various things by the Creator God-sama.
If anything, I even thought it would be a chance to relive those wonderful days with the God of Light-sama, the God of Gastronomy-sama, and the Goddess of the Forest-sama.
The only thing I didn’t expect was that when I opened my eyes after being called to the divine realm as planned… the God in front of me was not the Creator God-sama or the God of Light-sama, but the God of Commerce-sama.
And so began a conversation that was painful even for me.
“Hey, Wataru, it’s been a while.”
“…God of Commerce-sama, it’s been a while.”
“I see you bought a new luxury liner. I’m glad things are going so well.”
“…Hahaha, thank you.”
“But you’ve also increased your charitable donations considerably, haven’t you?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“What are you going to do about it?”
“Uh… I’m going to build a mental health facility, and I plan to spend it gradually.”
“I see. But it seems to me that the rate at which you are consuming is not in balance with the rate at which you are increasing? And you still want to add more luxury liners, don’t you? Creator God-sama bragged about that, you know?”
“Huh? …Yes, Creator God-sama told me that there is another possibility regarding Ship Summoning, so I thought I would try my best…”
“I see. I don’t know what will happen to Ship Summoning, but I do know that the imbalance between consumption and increase is undesirable.”
“…..Oh… I would like to build a place for the Beastmen in the Aquamarine Kingdom. Would that qualify as a charitable expense?”
“Hmm… well, that’s fine. Good luck on your voyage.”
“Yes! I will get on it as soon as I can. Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
It was a conversation that was a complete defeat for me.
I felt like I was being dragged down by Creator God-sama.
It was true that I was doing exactly as Creator God-sama had calculated. I was thinking of buying the next luxury liner.
But if Creator God-sama hadn’t blurted out something unnecessary, wouldn’t the God of Commerce-sama still have looked at the situation?
Well, it’s better than having a ridiculous amount of charity expenses and then being pissed off, but still, the timing couldn’t be right.
Thanks to this, I had to get on with my business in the Aquamarine Kingdom as soon as possible.
A sudden change of plans. Alessia-san and the others seemed a little surprised, but they accepted it. But the biggest problem remained. Yes, Ines.
The change in schedule meant more time with Bella-san, whom Ines had a hard time dealing with. There was no way Ines would tolerate that.
As expected, Ines was vehemently opposed and furious. Besides, we will be in the Aquamarine Kingdom at a time when the attention has not yet waned so much.
The schedule was already in disarray.
On top of that, Ines, who was in a rough situation, melted all her money in the Chateau casino, which made her even rougher.
My stomach starts to growl just thinking about it. I want to go home.
…But the Gods of Commerce-sama told me to be encouraged, so I guess I’ll have to work hard.
…Let’s do something about Ines’ mood first.
***
I could not control Ines’ mood, but in any case, I carried her aboard the Lutto and managed to arrive at the port of the Aquamarine Kingdom.
Since the Lutto’s appearance had been changed by the Ship Disguise, it would not be immediately recognizable, but from now on, I would have to be very careful.
It would be a big project to develop an undeveloped area by investing a large amount of money, and eventually, I would be discovered, but the less time I spent in trouble, the better. I want to be as discreet as possible.
“Marina-san, please.”
We waited until nightfall and asked Marina-san to deliver the letter to Bella-san. As a high-ranking scout, Marina-san would be able to deliver the letter without anyone noticing.
First, I would talk to the locals, Bella-san and the others, to gather information.
“Okay. Take care of Fuu-chan.”
Marina-san nudged Fuu-chan and quickly disappeared into the darkness. As expected from Marina-san, I immediately lost track of where she was.
***
“I’m back. I brought Bella-san because she said she would come with me. Please give permission to her.”
“Eh?”
Marina-san returned in less than an hour, apparently bringing Bella-san with her. I was surprised because I had only intended to give her a letter and make an appointment.
“Ma-Master, I’m not ready for this. Send her away!”
…Ines, as a daughter, how is that right? Well, if it were a neglectful parent, I would understand that kind of reaction, right? But Bella-san is not like that, is she?
“I’m going to ask for her help, so that’s not going to happen, is it?”
“Don’t worry. Just give her some cosmetics, and she’ll be in a good mood in no time.”
These are not the words of Ines, who was in a bad mood until we arrived in the Aquamarine Kingdom or even after we arrived here. Well, now it seems that fear is more important than mood…
“This is impossible. I’m giving her permission now, Ines, and if you don’t behave, you might be afraid of what comes next, okay?”
With a snap, Ines’ back straightened.
That’s enough; maybe it would be better if Bella-san worked with me instead of her working at the Castle.
It’s not good because Ines would collapse under the stress.
Leaving the hardened Ines behind, I walked out of the ship to find Bella-san standing there, smiling at me. Her good looks, recognizable even in the dim light that only came from inside the ship, were as good as could be expected.
“It’s been a long time, Bella-san. I apologize for the short notice. Please come in.”
“No, it’s a pleasure. I wanted to tell you a few things, so I thought it would be a nuisance to bother you, but I came to see you.”
What did she want to tell me? Could it be that it has become difficult for the family to get a job at the Castle? Ines seems to be jumping up and down with joy, but I’m a little disappointed.
When I enter the cabin with Bella-san, she looks at Ines and smiles softly while Ines gives a long, drawn-out smile. The contrasting expressions of the similar mother and daughter are a bit amusing.
I move to the sofa and offer Bella-san a cup of tea.
“Um, so what is it you want to tell me?”
It would be better to hear what Bella-san has to say first than what I have to say.
“I read your letter, and it said that you didn’t want to attract attention, so I asked you about it. Our house is being watched, so it might be a little awkward for Wataru-san and the others to be there.”
The air in the cabin became tense at the mention of being watched.
“Mother, is something wrong? Are you in danger? Are Father and Dario okay?”
As expected, Ines’ face changed color. I’m not good at this, but it’s not that I don’t like it. Despite the tense atmosphere, I felt a little relieved. I have to be careful.
“Ara, ara, I’m sorry if my expression is misleading. There is no problem. It’s just that things have changed a lot since Wataru-san and the others invited us aboard the ship last time, haven’t they? And with the things we bought and the souvenirs we bought, we’ve attracted a lot of attention, so we’re being watched, or rather, we’re being noticed. There is no danger. It’s just that when they come to the house, things are very conspicuous.”
The air in the cabin suddenly relaxed.
In other words, Bella-san’s beauty has been polished, and so on, so she still attracts attention. The goods are also sought after by royalty and nobility, so I guess it can’t be helped.
In short, there is no danger, but it is impossible to keep a low profile.
Huh? You can do that much with a message, right?
I see; I understood from Bella-san’s look. I was sure what she wanted to tell me, but she just wanted to see Ines as soon as possible, didn’t she?
You are loved, Ines.
