Chapter 13 – As Expected, It’s Sensitive
Under pressure from the God of Commerce-sama, I have hastily begun my pioneering project in the Aquamarine Kingdom. The location is a very inconvenient and undeveloped area, and it is difficult to decide on even the first pioneer base, but I am determined to do my best.
There are no roads in the undeveloped area, and the Ranger traverses rough, hilly terrain.
Of course, there was a lot of talk about the Ranger’s uncomfortable ride… It wasn’t.
Since the high-ranking ladies are gathered here, they sit rather calmly in their chairs, and even when bumps and protrusions threaten to cause things to fall off, they remain calm.
The fussy ones are the Slime group of Rimu, Fuu-chan, and Beni-chan, who enjoy rocking and being bounced around by the vibrations.
They roll around in the car, this way and that way. Pent, by the way, is relaxing on a pole inside the car.
“This plastic bottle is perfect for outdoor activities. It’s lightweight, it doesn’t break easily, it’s easy to carry, and when you close the lid, the contents don’t spill. I wish I had one of these when I first became an adventurer.”
“Yes, these containers would have come in handy in so many ways.”
“Then there’s the cup noodles!”
“Oh, yes, it is called instant food, but it tastes so much better than the food you usually get in the city. If only I had these when I started out as an adventurer, I wouldn’t have had to deal with the tasteless, portable meals.”
I can hear the carefree conversation of Alessia-san, Dorothea-san, Carla-san, and Ilma-san from behind me.
They were again impressed by the convenience of plastic bottles during the trip, and the topic of conversation seemed to have started rolling when Carla-san enthusiastically promoted instant food.
It turned into a conversation about how I wanted to drink from the vending machine corner of the ferry for the first time in a long time.
But I know the feeling. Even if you eat good food every day on a luxury liner, you still feel a different attraction to cup noodles and cheap, dinky food from the vending machine corner.
“Master, there’s a big rock ahead. Be careful!”
“Oops, thanks, Felicia.”
I was so focused on the conversation behind me that I was distracted from the road ahead.
But the effect of indestructibility is really a cheat, isn’t it?
It’s amazing that an amphibious bus, a somewhat delicate-looking vehicle, can drive over rough, uneven, unpaved roads and not break down.
Hahahahahaha, cheats are the best!
Bump! Vroom, vroom, vroom!
“””Kyaaa!”””
Vroom, vroom, vroom.
“Ah! Rimu!”
“Beni-chan!”
“Fuu-chan!”
“Hey, Wataru, what’s wrong?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, Alessia-san, I think the tire fell into a hole or something.”
It might have been because I got too excited about the cheat. The rear wheel was spinning even though I was pressing the gas pedal.
Even if it’s a cheat vehicle that doesn’t break, as long as it’s running on tires, it can’t run if the tires don’t touch the ground. Huh? That sounds a bit philosophical?
Besides, Carla-san, it was an accident, so please don’t get into the matter of honorifics at times like this.
By the way, the Slime group, who were stuck to the windshield due to the sudden stop, seemed to be safe as the thought of having fun once again crossed their minds. Or rather, enthusiastic thoughts came from them as if to say, “Let’s have this moment again.”
When I saw Rimu and the other Slimes sticking to the windshield, I felt a chill in my heart, but as expected from high-level Slimes, it was nothing to worry about. But I don’t want them to do it again.
“I’m sorry, Master. I didn’t notice the dent.”
“No, Felicia. It can’t be helped. The grass is so tall here, it’s hard to tell the difference.”
Felicia bowed her head apologetically, but I don’t like it when she apologizes for something so trivial. I am not that unreasonable.
“So, Master, what do you want to do? Shall we all lift the Ranger together?”
No, Ines, lifting a bus is… I mean, no, I’m sure it would be easy with this group of people. I think even Carla-san could do it pretty well by herself.
But that’s not necessary. It’s true that a car can’t run if the tires don’t touch the ground, but I’ll show you that Ship Summoning is still a cheat.
“For now, as soon as we all go outside, I can summon the Ranger again, and it will be up and running in no time. Just as well, we can take a short break here.”
We had been rocking in the car for almost an hour, so this would not be a bad time to take a break. At my words, the women, Rimu and the other Slimes, got out of the car.
Even with the impact, Pent, who had remained wrapped around the pole, somehow crept up to me and wrapped himself around my body. …I wonder if he doesn’t want to move on his own because there’s no water hole?
When I went outside with Pent wrapped around my body, I saw the women raising their arms and stretching their backs… Don’t look, don’t look. I mustn’t look.
I desperately looked away from the devils who were stretching their backs and emphasizing their abundant motherhood.
Even though Ines had assured me that I had not yet reached the stages that would make me a good young man but not a pervert, I could not ruin my reputation here by gazing at the rich maternal figure of the women. I must be a normal young man and woo Alessia-san and the others!
As I frantically looked away, I saw the Ranger, his body scraping the ground… Something calmed me down a bit.
Hmm, it looks like it fell into a pretty big dent. The rear wheels are completely in the air, and the belly of the bus is scraping the ground. I thought the front wheel went through fine, but it had to meander halfway through to get away from the rocks.
There seemed to be less damage to the interior when the rear wheels fell off than when the front wheels fell off, and I may have been quite lucky.
Anyway, I repatriated the Ranger and summoned the hut boat and the food boat. It’s been a long time since I’ve summoned the hut boat.
I remembered the old days when I was in deadly battles with the Horned Rabbit, and I felt a little excited.
It might be good to take a break and reminisce about those days.
***
After the break, we reached our destination without any problems.
By the way, I immediately gave up nostalgia for the old days. The memories of those days were mostly memories of beating the Horned Rabbits to death.
It is horrible to think that the souls of those killed Horned Rabbits are working with me as Saporabi…
It was a bit empty, but we arrived at our destination, so I repatriated the Ranger and summoned the Hideaway.
It’s a little inconvenient to get in and out of, but considering that I can easily summon a house with a super luxurious jet bath as expected, Ship Summoning is really a cheat.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the Hideaway. Come to think of it, wasn’t it on this ship that Wataru and I took our first hot bath together? Ufufu, Wataru, would you like to join us again?”
Alessia-san looked at the Hideaway and made a suggestion that made me want to jump up and down.
I’ve been getting more and more chest-thumping invitations from Alessia-san and the others since I started to avoid looking at them in an ecchi way.
When I happily told Ines that this could be the effect of “if you don’t push, you won’t get it,” she denied that it was anything like that.
It seemed that they just saw that I was holding back and were teasing me.
I was so frustrated that I wondered if I should take the opportunity since I had a word. I thought about it, but according to Ines, this is the point where I have to hold back. Resisting this urge was the only way to a harem, she said.
Love… No, harems are very deep.
“Haha, I-I think that would be fun, too, if I had the chance…”
That’s why I’m going to reject Alessia-san’s temptation with all my heart and soul for the future of a harem.
“Well, I think I’ll start by using the Hideaway as our base and scouting the area around it. I’ll summon two of the Add so that everyone in the Girasole can use them at their leisure.”
If they continue to tease me, my spirit will be extinguished, so I begin my work anyway.
With Ines and Felicia guarding me, I explore the nearby area with Rimu and Pent.
I’ve asked Alessia-san and the others to explore the plains and forests away from the base, and since they’re an A-ranked party of adventurers, they should be able to bring me the best results if I trust them with the job.
“I understand. Then Marina, Ilma, and I will go into the forest, and Dorothea, Carla, and Claretta will scout the plains. Okay, Wataru, we’ll go.”
“Oh, yes, I’m counting on you.”
The group was divided into small teams, and Alessia-san and her team left after quickly setting up their equipment.
I’ve seen so many voluptuous figures on luxury liners and ferries lately that it feels strange, but I guess first class is great.
I’m a little worried, though, that Carla-san packed a lot of snacks in her backpack…
Also, it was nice to see the three beautiful women riding close together on the two-person Add. But they were wearing equipment that looked hard, and I wouldn’t have wanted to be sandwiched between them.
In the past, I would have wanted to be sandwiched between them, even if it looked hard, so maybe I have grown up a bit with my recent patience.
“Well, let’s take a look around, shall we?”
Feeling like I had grown up a little, I was in a good mood and was about to start scouting.
“Well, it’s been a while since I’ve been on a land adventure, so I hope something interesting will happen.”
Ines. This is your hometown, and you left the country because there was nothing interesting going on. What do you expect?
“I understand. Which way would you like to go first?”
Which way?
“Well, let’s go a little bit north first and then go around in a circle.”
It feels like a scouting trip or maybe more like a walk.
***
“Well, we circled around for now, but it was basically a flat area of grass and dirt, with Horned Rabbits, Slimes, and sometimes Goblins? …What about this? Is it livable?”
For a moment, the Horned Rabbit made me want to eat a whole roasted rabbit, but I left it at that.
I wanted to touch the Slime, but since I was scouting for a moment, I held back and gave it beef jerky and left it alone.
Ines and Rimu slaughtered the Goblins.
“The Horned Rabbit wasn’t so bad since it makes good food. Goblins are… small fry from our point of view, but they can be troublesome if you want to live in an area. They are annoying.”
Ines may be okay with it, but I still have a hard time with Goblins. I don’t think I’ll lose, but the sight of them gnashing their teeth and threatening me usually scares me.
“Depending on the results of the forest scouting, I think we can manage to keep the people safe if we build a fence and improve the defenses.”
The opinion of Felicia, who had lived in hiding in the forest, would be helpful.
“Well, is it possible to live here?”
“I mean, is it not livable at all?”
“The soil is not that great, and if I had to choose, I would consider it a temporary base and look for another place that looks a little nicer.”
It’s not impossible to live here, but it’s not a place I want to live.
Fufu, even if you say other places, this place seems to be the most decent place in the documents.
Abandoned and undeveloped land is undeveloped land for a good reason.
The eastern part of the kingdom seems to be a sensitive place. I really hope that Alessia-san and the others will bring me some information that will turn things around.
…For now, let’s take a break at the Hideaway.
