Chapter 6 – Promenade
Finally, I summoned the new luxury liner I had purchased, the Grandiosa! …But the ladies were not impressed by the exterior. I got great reactions when I first summoned the Castle, but they don’t seem to be as surprised by a ship of this size anymore. It’s impossible to compete in size with a large luxury liner.
“Whew!”
It’s hard to compete in size, but it seems it can still compete in facilities inside, and the ladies are open-mouthed and pouting at the opulence of the halls.
But it can’t be helped. The exterior of a luxury liner cannot be so differentiated, but the interior of each ship has different concepts, and just because you are used to another luxury liner does not mean that you are okay with another luxury liner.
Of course, this Grandiosa must have a very special interior design.
Probably a first-class designer has worked on the interior. An ordinary person like me would not be able to understand even 10% of the details, but there are some things I can understand.
…It’s really cool.
That’s what it’s all about.
The luxurious and spacious halls are three or more stories high, with squishy, silver, artistic things and creative furniture.
In particular, this luxury liner is obsessed with silver, and various parts, such as columns and railings, are unified in silver, and it feels, well… stylish.
It’s a really cool luxury liner, although my lack of vocabulary makes me sad.
“Master, that’s a piano, isn’t it? I’ve seen it in an anime.”
Everyone was stunned, but Ines, who was very curious, made a move. And it was the piano that caught her attention.
Well, it’s natural to pay attention to it because it’s in the middle of the hall, but it’s no use if it’s the center of attention. Now, as the master of the place, let’s show them something more impressive.
“Yes, that’s right, it’s called a grand piano. Take a look at it.”
Now let’s hear it: the only piece I can play on the piano is I stepped on a cat!
…Oho? Can I still move my fingers?
I started to play, but it had been a long time since I had touched the piano, and I knew I would give a poor performance.
Well, I had calculated that the ladies who didn’t know much about piano would praise me anyway, but… I played unexpectedly well.
Is it because of my level? Does it mean that the physical ability I gained from the higher level outweighed the gaps of several years? …Levels are awesome.
“Whew. That felt good.”
These were the first words that came out of my mouth the moment I finished playing the song. Even though the performance was left to the level, I think it was the best performance by an amateur.
“Wataru, it’s kind of a comical song, but it was great.”
Oh, Alessia-san. Thank you for the compliment.
“Yes, it made me want to step to the rhythm.”
…Dorothea-san, please don’t get the cat involved in that step.
“It was lively and beautiful.”
Marina-san, perhaps fuss is a better way to describe it than lively.
“Ufufu. It was a nice melody. Next time, I’d like to request something with a more mature atmosphere.”
Ilma-san. I welcome your company in an adult atmosphere, but since this is the only song I can play, I can’t grant your request.
“Buncha-buncha-buncha-buncha.”
Carla-san… I don’t understand, but I’m glad you liked it.
“I think the God of Music-sama might be pleased with it as well.”
Claretta-san, is there a God of Music? …No, there is the God of War, the God of Gastronomy, and even the God of Entertainment, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is the God of Music.
I wonder if it would be one of the goddesses I only had a chance to say hello to. If I get a chance, I would like to talk to him or her. If he is a male god, I would just thank him from a distance.
“Master, you were quite good. It was like a cat jumping up and down.”
Ah, Ines grins as if she knows that this song is played by a child. Maybe this song was in an anime.
…I’ll have to silence her later with an increase in her allowance. Maybe Ines is grinning for that as well.
“Master, that was brilliant.”
I can’t tell if Felicia knows… or not. I know Felicia won’t tell anyone, but I’ll increase her allowance just in case.
Feeling kind of good, I looked up at the sky with my fingers on the keys, and before I knew it, Alessia-san and the others who had gathered nearby were giving me verbal compliments. I’m really happy about that, but I’m afraid things will turn sour if I just keep going like this, so I think I’ll move on.
But it’s a pleasant enough place that I’d be tempted to give an extra concert if I could play a masterpiece of classical music without a hitch. Maybe I should start taking piano lessons? I can’t read music, though.
“Well, thank you for your attention. Shall we move on?”
I said and immediately started walking away from the piano. Now, which way shall we look around?
…Let’s start with that.
The ceiling is covered with LED lights on the promenade inside a luxury liner. It is important to see what new products are available.
***
I was an idiot.
I didn’t think I was smart, to begin with, but this made me acutely aware that I was an idiot.
I can’t believe I had forgotten the obvious fact that women shop for a long time… Thanks to this, it was night by the time we had finished looking around the not-very-wide promenade.
At first, I was delighted by the exotic atmosphere of the promenade and the changing scenery of the ceilings. Once we were all satisfied, we entered the shops.
The first shop was very spacious.
It was a store with a collection of nautical items, and I was able to watch as adorable Claretta-san, who loves stuffed animals, got very excited about a stuffed bear dressed as a captain and a stuffed bear wearing a t-shirt.
Her bouncing motherhood was wonderful, and I was fascinated by the model of a luxury liner they had on display. My heart was moved by the hat that looked like something a captain would wear, and I wondered if I should buy it since I am a captain, too.
But I knew I was wrong when I entered the next shop.
It was a corner store that sold various jewelry and branded items.
Although the store was not very spacious, the women were quickly attracted to it.
They were intrigued by the brand-name watches, horrified by the prices, fascinated by the beautiful accessories, and seriously examined the high-end bags.
And then there are the cosmetics. The Castle is a luxury liner operated by a different company. Not only are the companies different, but the country is also different, so the cosmetics, like the brands, are sold by different companies.
It is natural for a group of women to be interested in such things. They became staff members of a store that handles cosmetics by staff appointment and went crazy with the knowledge they gained about the brands of cosmetics they handled.
What about the feelings of the other members? Are they dark colors or warm colors? I was having a conversation with them in an unknown language that even I, with my Language Comprehension unique skill, could not understand.
I could not keep up with the conversation, so much so that I anxiously checked my status, wondering if I had lost my Language Comprehension skill. I dreaded the time when I would go to a beauty salon in another location.
The energetic ladies were oblivious to my fears and walked from one luxury brand store to another, replenishing their energy at the sweet shops set up in between.
Along the way, I had to stop Ines and Alessia-san from rushing to the casino, placate Carla-san, who was groggy and wanted to take her time eating at the sushi, teppanyaki, and other Western-style restaurants and cafes, and I had a lot of trouble in other directions as well.
If it hadn’t been for the cooperation of Claretta-san, who has little interest in anything but cosmetics and stuffed animals, and Felicia, who knows the word “reserved,” I probably would have sunk to the bottom of this little promenade.
“Wataru! That was fun!”
Alessia-san said with a big smile on her face as I was about to run out of energy. Well, I guess that’s true.
If she had said that it was boring after all that excitement, even I, who is kind to women… or rather just weak, would have been seriously pissed.
…Well, I was sure that I was a fool to rush into the place that is irresistible to women first, so the next time I have a chance, I’ll ask her to walk around the shopping area by herself.
Finally, the shopping is over, and my sleeve is tugged with a quirk as I am filled with a sense of relief.
When I turned around, I saw a sad-looking Carla-san with her eyebrows furrowed. That would be…
“Wataru, I’m hungry. Dinner.”
I know, right? We ate something in between shopping, didn’t we? I can’t say that. To Carla-san, a light meal in between shopping is not even a snack.
And before I knew it, she had Rimu on her head and Fuu-chan and Beni-chan on both sides of her shoulders. I can’t resist the request of the gluttonous quartet.
There is also Pent crawling next to me, but Pent is surprisingly a small eater. Well, he still eats more than me because he is growing into such a huge body…
“Right. Carla has put up with a lot today, so it’s time to eat. Where would you like to go? Let’s go to a restaurant where Carla wants to eat.”
“I want to eat there!”
Carla-san pointed to a Spanish restaurant on the promenade, her bear ears twitching at full speed.
I think it was the restaurant associated with a famous two-star, award-winning chef, or so it said on the ship’s purchase screen.
As expected from Carla-san, she has an excellent sense of smell for good food. Well, I guess we will end up visiting all the restaurants, and they will all be of high quality, as is typical of a luxury liner.
“I understand. Shall we eat there then?”
“Yes! Let’s go!”
Carla-san couldn’t wait to go on board with Rimu and the others.
…Carla-san is usually a cute person, but when it comes to food, she becomes incredibly cute, doesn’t she?
