Chapter 10 – Verification is Important
At William-san’s request, we destroyed a goblin settlement and discovered an unexplored cave behind it. Dreaming of dungeons, ancient ruins, and ore, we explored the cave, but all we found were mushrooms and a hot spring. The hot spring seemed to be of very good quality, though, so it might become one of the local attractions.
After soaking in the hot spring and confirming that there were no abnormalities in my body, I filled the rubber boat with hot spring water and returned to the Beastman Village.
“The sun has already risen. Should we report to William-san before resting?”
It was night when we started. After exterminating the goblins, exploring the cave, and enjoying the hot spring, dawn broke.
By the time we returned to the Beastman Village, the villagers were busy, and the men had probably already left for the Beastman Town construction site.
“Yeah, I’m a bit sleepy, so let’s hurry up and report.”
Marina-san also looked sleepy. She had worked all night, and the hot spring must have made her body crave sleep. I’m pretty tired, too.
However, since our time in the Aquamarine Kingdom is almost over, I want to finish the report before bed and hand the plans over to William-san and Camille-san.
Oh! I should ask Camille-san to be present when I report. The problem is finding out if William-san is out in the field.
When we returned to the guild, luckily, they were both in the office. I reported on the request in William-san’s room.
“I see. Wataru-san found something interesting, too.”
William-san nodded in admiration at our report.
“Just for the sake of it, I was thinking that if we built a village there, it might become a tourist attraction. What do you think?”
“That’s true. The only hot spring in the kingdom is the seawater hot spring in the village north of the capital, so Wataru-san’s discovery is significant because it’s the first ordinary hot spring in the Aquamarine Kingdom. The fact that it’s in a cave is interesting, too.”
There are hot springs in the Aquamarine Kingdom, including seawater hot springs. Come to think of it, I’ve heard of them before but have never visited a seawater hot spring.
It seems difficult to visit during this stay, but I’ll make it a point to visit next time.
“It seems like a hassle to use, but is the cave aspect interesting?”
Come to think of it, there are cave hot springs in Japan, and they’re quite popular. I decided it would be difficult to pump the hot spring water outside, but maybe using it on-site is an option.
“Yes, most people who go to hot springs are wealthy. They’re hungry for rare experiences. A hot spring that isn’t seawater and is inside a cave is quite intriguing.”
Hot springs have become popular attractions on Dark Elf Island, but the Aquamarine Kingdom is a country with a large population.
Perhaps a large hot spring town like those in Japan will emerge.
“However, considering the needs of wealthy people, safety and adequate facilities are absolute priorities. If we use the cave hot springs, we’ll need to hire dwarves to reinforce and construct the cave, as well as build accommodations for visitors. That will be quite costly.”
The cost is the issue. From William-san’s perspective, that makes sense. From my perspective, though, the question is whether I can get approval to classify it as a charitable expense.
I’ve thought that the development so far has been questionable, but developing a tourist destination will be an even more difficult decision.
It’s too risky to develop a tourist destination without proper planning, so let’s ask the God of Commerce-sama for guidance before we start.
“I don’t know if I can secure the funds to develop the cave yet, so please investigate first.”
“Wataru-san and William-san, don’t forget to investigate the mushrooms. Some mushrooms have valuable medicinal properties.”
Come to think of it; we found medicinal herbs like the ones Camille-san mentioned in the windy cave. However, that was a special place. Above all, it was an unusual situation, with an ancient dragon nesting there.
As for the mushrooms, nothing about them was unusual except for the hot spring. I don’t think there are any mushrooms that amazing.
At that time, I felt romantic when I heard the words “ancient dragon,” but now that I know the truth, I only feel melancholy.
“Yes, if they are edible, we can use them in cooking. If there are valuable mushrooms, we will have to consider how to proceed with the construction. Let’s have a mushroom and plant expert accompany us on the survey.”
While I was thinking about ancient dragons, the two capable individuals were already making plans.
There doesn’t seem to be anything else I can do, so I’ll take a break and catch some sleep. When I wake up, I’ll head out to the open sea to pay my respects to the God of Commerce-sama.
***
Once again, I asked Marina-san and the others to stay behind and guard Camille-san while we headed out to the open sea.
This time, I summoned Chris and boarded the ship.
“The atmosphere here seems brighter, too.”
Felicia said happily as she looked around the lobby.
As she said, the ship’s interior is brighter due to the effects of liberating Saporabi’s consciousness.
“I’m going to the church, so everyone else is free to do as they please. Oh, and take Rimu and Pent with you.”
I handed Rimu and Pent, who were hanging around my head and neck, to Ines and Felicia and started toward the church. But Ines stopped me.
“Master, I think I need to check on the casino.”
I thought Ines was going to say something serious, but it turned out to be something silly.
“It’s not necessary.”
“It may not be necessary for you, but it’s necessary for me. It’s a matter of pride!”
Pride… After being reduced to tears at the Chateau’s casino, she’s already in tatters, isn’t she?
Ah, that’s why she wants to recover.
I could refuse, but she’d definitely sulk. However, it’s not right to just give her money like that.
“Hmm, then let’s make a bet.”
“A bet with you, Master?”
“Yes, I’ll bet one gold coin. The bet is on Ines’ losses at the casino. You’ll use this gold coin as seed money to gamble, and if you lose one gold coin or more, you’ll have to do whatever I say for every ten silver coins you lose. How about it?”
I have the right to give Ines orders because she’s my slave, but I don’t usually do it because I don’t want her to hate me.
“…So, if I lose one gold coin, I have to obey ten commands? What happens if I win?”
“The seed money and Ines’ winnings will be yours.”
That’s too lenient. I mean, ten thousand yen for one command is pretty lenient to begin with.
But there’s a reason I chose one gold coin instead of five or ten silver coins. The more money Ines has, the more confident she becomes and the higher the chance she’ll lose.
Ines is confident in her gambling skills and will never notice this little trap.
“I’m in!”
Ines took the gold coin and skipped off toward the casino.
She’s probably thinking I’ll give her lewd orders, but I plan to order her to stay away from the casino during the gambling ban or to go to Bella-san’s place in the Castle for training.
If there’s any leftover, though, it’d be a waste to throw it away, so I might give her some lewd orders that I don’t usually give her. It’d be a waste to throw them away.
“Um, what about Felicia? Are you going to bet?”
Since Felicia doesn’t have any complaints, all the orders will be lewd. She’s reserved, so I have a lot of orders I want to give her.
“I still have most of the allowance you gave me, Master, so I’m fine.”
Damn… Felicia hardly ever spends the allowance I give her on herself. She mostly spends it on souvenirs for Dark Elf Island.
It’s unfortunate, but there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s really unfortunate.
“I see. Then, may I ask you to take care of Rimu and Pent?”
“Yes, leave it to me.”
I asked Felicia to look after Rimu and Pent and then headed for the church.
I knelt before the statue of Creator God-sama and offered my prayers.
“Huh? Normally, I would be summoned to the divine realm immediately…”
“Wataru-san, can you hear me?”
“God of Light-sama, are you there? Is the Creator God God-sama busy?”
It’s rare to connect with the God of Light-sama through the divine message, so I was surprised.
“Hehe, the mini Creator God you entrusted to me is doing a great job, and Creator God-sama is working hard too. I’m sorry, but I can’t call you to the divine realm right now. If I do, the Creator God-sama will definitely get involved.”
The God of Light-sama sounds very cheerful. I bet the beautiful God of Light-sama is shining so brightly that it’s dazzling.
Still, the mini Creator God is around.
“I see. I don’t want to get involved with Creation God-sama either, so it’s fine to leave things as they are. Actually, I have a question for the God of Commerce-sama. Could you connect me?”
“The God of Commerce? I see. Please wait a moment.”
The presence of the God of Light-sama faded. She must be calling the God of Requests-sama.
If music started playing, it would definitely be a phone call. But apparently, it doesn’t have that function.
“Wataru-san, thank you for waiting. I’ll connect you to the God of Commerce now.”
After waiting a moment, communication with the God of Light-sama was reconnected.
“Thank you.”
“This is the God of Commerce. Thank you for your help the other day. Thanks to you, I was able to keep the reduction in compensation within a reasonable range.”
As soon as I switched, he thanked me.
It seems that even the God of Commerce-sama had a hard time with the Mini Creator God. I guess they don’t get along very well.
“No, I’m glad I could be of help.”
The main gods I wanted to save were the God of Light-sama, the God of Gastronomy-sama, the Goddess of the Forest-sama, and the other goddesses. For this reason, I feel a little sorry when the male gods thank me.
“Hmm, so what do you want?”
The conversation changed so quickly. Talking to the God of Commerce-sama makes me nervous, so I’m glad the topic changed.
“Actually, I’m currently building a town for beastmen as a charity project.”
“Hmm. I’m surprised you’re trying to build a town, let alone an orphanage.”
Surprising the God of Commerce-sama is impressive, isn’t it?
Plus, my charity project is going well, and the consultation is progressing smoothly.
