Chapter 21 – Shopping and Departure From Southern City
We arrive at the village on the hill with the village chief, and I send Felicia to help Cecilia-san.
“Village Chief-san, I don’t hear much carpentry going on, is the carpentry work also concentrated in the hot spring village?”
“Yes, the carpentry work is concentrated in the huts in the forest or in the hot spring village because we are building huts by the river in the forest to store the wood for the newcomers. When things settle down over there, we plan to build more houses in this village.”
“I see. I’m looking forward to seeing the hot spring village completed.”
“Yes, Cecilia and the others went to the hot springs after the inn was built, and they seemed to like it so much that more and more people want to live in the hot spring village.”
“So they already went to the hot springs? That’s very fast.”
“Yes, they were very impatient. Wataru-san had made a big bathtub for us, so that helped a lot. They were happy to soak in the hot spring several times in one day. But only the vice mayor and I used Wataru-san’s shampoo, right? I know this is a very bold request, but would you be willing to share the shampoo and other products with us in exchange for the metals to be extracted from the mine?”
The village chief asked me apologetically. I guess he is caught between me and the women. The Castle will be opened, and beauty-related products will be put up for sale, and I have no problem selling them to this island.
…I’m sure the demands will be even more annoying once they get their hands on beauty-related goods, so the hot spring village will be completed sooner rather than later.
“I understand. I’ll talk to Felicia, and I’m sure she and Cecilia-san will figure out what’s needed.”
“Thank you.”
The village chief bowed his head seriously. I’m almost in tears thinking about how much pressure he put on me. Let’s act quickly and calm him down.
I go to the village chief’s house and tell Cecilia-san and Felicia that I will give them beauty products. Cecilia-san’s smile is dazzling.
“I apologize, Master, for making such an impertinent request when I haven’t even repaid you for the migration.”
“It’s not much of an inconvenience for me since it’s only for sale. Felicia can decide on the quantity and distribute it later.”
“Yes, thank you.”
After solving the village chief’s problem for a while, we returned to the Seeker.
“Felicia, how much did they say they needed?”
“They are not to be owned by individuals but are to be set up in a common area between this village and the hot springs. Since there are so many people here, consumption is likely to be high, but as a trial, we decided to give out ten bottles each of shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. Is that okay with you?”
“In that case, I have them in stock, so you can deliver them to the village now. I’m going to visit the hot spring village after it’s finished, so tell them we’re going to the Southern City while you deliver them.”
I summoned a storage boat and gave her ten bottles each of shampoo, conditioner, and body soap that I had stocked.
“Understood.”
“I’ll summon the Add and Ines; you’ll drive it with Felicia.”
“I understand. Felicia, let’s go.”
I saw her off on the Add and entered the Seeker. Ines looked a bit happy. Should I have taken the opportunity to go ashore on the Add or the Ranger? Would it be okay if we went to the hot spring village next time?
“Wataru-san, will you take Camille and the others with us when we leave the Southern City?”
“Hmm, I don’t think they’ll be able to move right away, so I’ll tell them that it’s okay anytime, and I’ll pick them up when Camille-san and the others finish their preparations, right? If they can move right away, I’ll take them there and raise their level.”
“Level up, huh? I’m looking forward to it.”
Alessia-san’s eyes began to sparkle.
“It seems that using the Galette will be very efficient, so I’d like you to split into three groups and level up as much as you can.”
“That’s a very exciting development, isn’t it? We could have a level-up competition.”
I think Mauro-san and the others will die if you start such a competition. Let’s remind her of that.
“I’m sorry to say this, Alessia-san. But please take it slowly at first, and don’t do anything reckless.”
“Is that so? Do you think it’s better to go slow at first?”
“Yes, we don’t know if those three are used to the sea, so let’s not be reckless and take our time to raise the level; let’s get them used to the Lutto, and after they reach a certain level, let’s switch to the Galette.”
If we put them on the Galette from the beginning, they will only be preyed upon by those who like to steer the ship. Whether they are addicted to the wild ride or terrified of it, nothing good will come of it either way.
“Is that the safest way? Well, all right. Let’s save the fun for later.”
“Haha, that’s what I’m asking.”
I’m sorry, Camille-san, Mauro-san and Donatella-san.
Ines and Felicia have returned, and we are leaving with the Seeker. We will transfer to the Castle on the way to the Southern City.
………………
We change to the Lutto and arrive in the Southern City and enter the Merchant’s Guild. I’ve been here so many times that I’m used to this activity. Lately, I have the feeling that the people in the city have mastered the art of just looking at Girasole and passing me by. It’s kind of sad. I enter the guild and talk to Camille-san.
“Camille-san, can I talk to you?”
“Ara, Wataru-san, it’s okay; let’s go to the back.”
Camille-san led me to the usual room. I wonder if I take Camille-san out, will I come here less often? The city of Cagliari will be the base of operations, and I’ll probably come here on my way to the Dark Elf Island.
“So, Wataru-san, what’s going on today?”
“I just finished the order for the orphanage, so I thought it was time for Camille-san and the others to come over. When would be good for you?”
“Fufu, I’ve been waiting for that. But I have to work here until ten days after the moon changes. I think Donatella is the same. Mauro-san is retired, so I think he will be fine whenever you are ready, but what do you think? Mauro-san was very motivated, so I’m sure he’ll fly in.”
A motivated old man will fly in… I don’t like it because it looks kind of tiring.
“No, I don’t want to keep explaining things to you, so I’ll ask the three of you to come together. Can Camille-san coordinate the meeting? Also, it doesn’t matter how much luggage you have, so please bring what you need to the port.”
“I understand. I think we can make arrangements by tomorrow, so please come back tomorrow.”
After about ten days, right? I also wanted to order furniture for the orphanage.
“I understand. I will visit you tomorrow night. Also, Camille-san, I know you are busy, but I would like to ask you to collect furniture for the orphanage.”
“Speaking of furniture, what do you need?”
“Well, I need beds, wardrobes, desks, chairs, and a large table for the dining room. Oh, and please bring used clothes for the children in various sizes. Also, some food to last a day would be helpful. Please give me five gold coins worth of food, and the rest of the items should be as much as you can comfortably gather.”
The Kingdom of Brescia as a whole will be short of supplies, so I will buy as much as I can in the Southern City. Even if there is a surplus, it will not be a problem if I repatriate it to the storage ship, and the orphanage itself has built a warehouse. There should be no problem.
“I understand; I will collect as much as I can.”
She nodded with a wry smile. I had asked her to provide clothes and even food while I was talking about furniture. Adding more work to an already busy place would have made people laugh, wouldn’t it? After a brief conversation, I left the Merchant’s Guild.
“Master, are you going back to the ship?”
“No, I want to get some Reversi and Jenga, so I’ll stop by Donnino-san’s place after a while and go back to the ship.”
“All right.”
I walked to the shipyard after a long time and called out to the man walking in front of me, asking him to call Donnino-san.
“Oh, long time no see.”
Donnino-san came over, but his eyes were fixed on my hand.
“Where’s the booze?”
Before I could greet him, he started asking me for a drink… I liked the honesty of his desire.
“There is none.”
“Then what are you doing here?”
He’s obviously disappointed. Next time I come back, should I bring him some liquor from the ship?
“I was thinking of getting a wholesale supply of Reversi and Jenga; can I have ten of each?”
“Oh, well, I have some in stock. Take them for free.”
“No, I’ll pay you.”
“That’s okay; I’m making money off of you, so I can’t take money from you. If you feel bad about it, bring me some liquor next time.”
“Well, I’ll take it. Next time I will bring you some good liquor, so please look forward to it.”
He suddenly smiled. Come to think of it; there’s some money in there for Reversi and other contracted products. I hadn’t renewed my guild card at the Merchant’s Guild recently, so I had forgotten about it. I wonder how much money is in there?
I’m curious, but I have plenty of money, so I guess I’ll just have to wait until the last minute. I plan to get more contracts in the future, and if I hold out and renew, I’ll have some big money in it.
“Oh, I’m looking forward to it. Hurry as soon as you can.”
“Haha. Okay.”
When we get back to the Lutto, should I have the whisky from the stock delivered to him? To make it worthwhile later, I’ll keep it as a general whisky without an age statement, not a high-end one. I’ll save the high-end stuff for here and there, so if something goes wrong, it’ll put me in a good mood.
After receiving the Reversi and the Jenga, I return to the Lutto.
“Ines, Felicia, can you deliver this whiskey to Donnino-san?”
“Okay. But is it okay if you give him the goods from the ferry?”
“Yes, it’s fine with me, he’s been a great help, and we’ll be opening the Castle soon. Besides, it’ll be a few months before we get back from all the excitement.”
“If that’s the case, wouldn’t it be better to give it to him just before we leave? Don’t you think Donnino-san will barge in after he’s had his whiskey?”
Sure, he was pretty happy with the distilled liquor he hadn’t slept on, so there’s a chance he’ll barge in if he likes the whiskey.
“Ines, Felicia, can you deliver it to him before we leave?”
“Yeah, okay.”
We stayed on the Lutto for a long time, visited Camille-san the next evening, and were scheduled to leave in 12 days. She said she had prepared a bit and would be able to leave soon.
I was to receive the luggage I had ordered and Camille-san, Mauro-san, and Donatella-san’s luggage every day. I thought I’d wait and play on the Castle, but it’s been a while since I’ve been on the Lutto.
I kind of miss it. On a bigger ship, everyone would scatter, but on the Lutto, I’m glad to have Girasole around. I am so happy to see them in no-bra t-shirts, up close and personal!
Until the day of departure, I cooked with Claretta-san and Carla-san while repatriating the luggage to be delivered. We all had a great time playing Reversi, Jenga and drinking.
It was a solid reminder of the benefits of living on a small ship that I had forgotten after living on a big ship. Lucky events are more likely to happen, and the lack of entertainment makes for good conversation.
On the Castle, we bathed and rested individually, but on the Lutto, I was able to enjoy the ladies in the hot tub. The Lutto is one of my top three happiest experiences, especially when it comes to drinking after a hot bath. Many happy things happen.
I’ll keep trying to find time to stay at Lutto. I like the luxury and the spacious rooms, but it is more valuable to me to have the ladies around me.
As I am reminded of the advantages of a small ship every day, the day of departure is fast approaching. It’s a bit disappointing.
I ask Ines and Felicia to take some whiskey to Donnino-san. Then I greeted the three of them.
“Wataru-san, please take care of us from now on.”
“I look forward to working with you all.
After greeting each other, I invited them to the Lutto. Ines and Felicia had returned, so we left immediately.
“So, Wataru-san, are you going to the city of Cagliari to open the Castle?”
“No, I plan to open the Castle after the orphanage is completed, which will be in about three months. Until then, I would like you to raise your level during the day and check out the facilities of the Castle during the night. We have some contracts to sign in the city of Cagliari, don’t we?”
The three reacted to my words.
“Hoho, will that raise my level as well?”
“Yes, including Camille-san, Mauro-san, and Donatella-san, I will ask you to raise your level as much as possible before the orphanage is completed. You can refuse, but I would be happy if you could raise your level and, if possible, work for me for a long time.”
“That would be a great help. I didn’t think that my life span would be extended at my age.”
“Are you sure, Wataru-san? Raising the level is quite a valuable deed, isn’t it?”
Donatella-san asks me with a look that says, “Are you sure it’s a good idea?” Thanks to the cheat, leveling up is easy for me. I feel like I can make money if I’m a power-leveling vendor or something if I need money.
“Yeah, don’t worry about it. I’d be more than happy to work with you if you can level up a lot and work well for a long time. Girasole, Ines, and Felicia will help you, so you can count on them.”
With a grand gesture, we headed out to sea. I can’t wait to see the surprised faces of the three when their level increases.
