Chapter 1067: Food
Chapter 1067: Food
"You're quite reckless," Fierce Breaker transmitted as he tinkered with several Spacetime Metals to comprehend the Law of Spacetime Metal. "Showing up in the Main Dimension is one thing, but approaching me is something else."
"In her eyes, your importance equals the importance of the world," Swamp Dragon answered. "Which equates to essentially nothing. She's busy experiencing the World Wall. At most, she will glance at the world for a couple of seconds every millennium. If these minutes here just so happen to overlap with her curiosity, fate must exist."
Fierce Breaker snorted. Swamp Dragon's predictions had almost all come true, but Fierce Breaker still felt that Swamp Dragon was a bit too confident. He had even shown up right beside Fierce Breaker.
"What if it happens to overlap?" Fierce Breaker asked. "How can you be so sure that she's not paying any attention? What if she's actually taking us seriously?"
"Nothing will change," Swamp Dragon answered. "She values control highly. That's why she didn't even allow Humanity to have any Level Five Law Wells. To undergo Fusion, you need an External Level Eight Law. Even if you know all of the Level Five Laws, as long as your Imposing Law isn't at 85% or higher, you won't fulfill the requirements. She could have given Humanity access to all Level Five Laws without any issues, and there wouldn't have been a single Advanced Ascendant. Even if there were, she would feel their advancement."
"If she were to see me in the Main Dimension, she would be less likely to kill me. As long as the existence of the Elemental stays hidden, nothing will happen. My appearance has no consequence."
Fierce Breaker could see how Swamp Dragon's logic made sense, but all of his predictions still felt like conjectures. There was no certainty in them. They were just educated guesses based on assumptions.
"How do you think things will develop?" Fierce Breaker asked after a while.
"She has already passed the second trial," Swamp Dragon answered as he looked towards the east. "It's been over 40,000 years. By now, she must have tried to manipulate the World Wall at least once. The first attempt is the most dangerous one, and since you haven't received the offer to become Overseer, it means she's still alive."
"There will be several more attempts, but none of them will lead to a situation in which False Death even touches the World Wall. She will realize that every possible method of trying to destroy the World Wall will lead to her death. She will know that she only has a single shot, but she will also know that she can't find out what she needs to do without taking a shot.""Destroying the World Wall with False Death is akin to randomly coming up with concepts that just so happen to overlap with the workings of an entire Law. She's flying blind. At most, she will experiment for another 100,000 years before she finally accepts defeat," Swamp Dragon explained.
"So, she will face the third trial?" Fierce Breaker asked.
Swamp Dragon nodded. "Hope before hopelessness before hope," he transmitted. "Valleys and mountains. Even with a calm mind, she would not choose to ignore her final hope. With a mind afflicted by the biggest loss of hope in her life, she's even less likely to ignore her final chance to escape."
"The chances of the third trial taking place are over 90%. The chances that the third trial ends with her death..."
"99%."
"99%," Fierce Breaker repeated as he shook his head. "You're usually conservative with your estimates. How can you be that certain this time?"
"Because she's the one in control," Swamp Dragon answered. "Imagine a man in his own home. The man feels hungry. There is some delicious food on his table. There is no doubt that the man would eat the food. What circumstances could lead to the man not eating the food?"
Fierce Breaker thought about the hypothetical for a short moment. "Only outside influences could stop him," he answered. "The man might be saving it for someone else. This might be the last bit of food, and he can't get more food. Someone might break into the house and steal it."
"As long as the man is alone in his home and doesn't lack resources, he will eat the food."
Swamp Dragon nodded. "The Overseer is the ruler of this house. Nobody can take anything from her. If she wants something, she will take it. She wants the third trial. Therefore, she will take it."
"Despite knowing that the chances of her death will be 99%?" Fierce Breaker asked.
"Yes," Swamp Dragon answered.
Fierce Breaker thought about how the Overseer must feel after over a billion years of being stuck in Auyvar. The desperation to escape had to be overwhelming, while the fight against hopelessness had to be draining.
"Do you really think she only has a one-percent chance to succeed?" Fierce Breaker asked. "I know it's dangerous, but is it really that dangerous?"
"She doesn't have a one-percent chance to succeed," Swamp Dragon answered. "She has no chance to succeed. The chance is not at 1%, 0.1%, 0.0001%, or anything like that."
"The chances of her success are absolute zero. It is physically impossible."
Fierce Breaker furrowed his brows. "But you said that the third trial has a 99% chance of ending with her death. What about the last percent?"
"The last percent doesn't represent her success," Swamp Dragon answered. "Relating to the earlier hypothetical, the last percent represents the chance of someone breaking into the house to steal or destroy the food."
One of Fierce Breaker's brows rose. "And how would that even work? Nobody in Auyvar is powerful enough to stop the Overseer from getting what she wants, and nobody who's powerful enough could enter Auyvar without her permission."
"I will not share the details with you," Swamp Dragon transmitted calmly. "Just know that an agreement has been formed. The food won't be taken."
Swamp Dragon's eyes narrowed. "However, agreements are just words. They can still be broken."
Fierce Breaker looked at Swamp Dragon with annoyance. He could have just said that he wouldn't talk about it. Instead, he made cryptic comments as if he wanted to excite Fierce Breaker's curiosity just to shoot it down.
"Why are you actually here?" Fierce Breaker asked. "I don't think you just wanted to share a casual conversation with me."
"I am here with a purpose, yes," Swamp Dragon answered. "I do not believe that it is necessary, but we must still prepare for every eventuality. The Overseer will not succeed, but there is a minuscule chance that she will survive. For that, we must be prepared."
"Manny's original plan, according to what you think his original plan was, right?" Fierce Breaker asked.
"Not entirely," Swamp Dragon answered. "Psychosis Manifestation was too conservative. He wanted to achieve something tremendous without taking any risks. Even if he had succeeded, the results would have been mediocre when compared to what they could have been."
"I'm not chasing secure mediocrity. I'm aiming for uncertain grandiosity. Go all-in or don't even try."
Swamp Dragon looked at Fierce Breaker.
"When the time comes, you need to do something. Your path forward might become more challenging in the future, but for the greater good, I hope you will accept."
Fierce Breaker had already expected something like that.
"Fine, tell me what I have to do."
