Chapter 1069: No Difference
Chapter 1069: No Difference
When Kyle heard that sentence, he knew that he wouldn't be able to find Swamp Dragon.
"Did you tell him that I've already completed my Fusion?" Kyle asked.
"Of course not," Sebastian answered. "I told him nothing about you."
"You're saying he already knew?" Kyle asked.
"Possible, but I can't be sure," Sebastian said.
Kyle took a deep breath to suppress the frustration and rage he felt deep inside.
Did Kyle want to kill Swamp Dragon?
In the past, no. After all, Swamp Dragon was the best shot they had to deal with the Overseer. Killing him would make all the sacrifices meaningless. Killing him would be the wrong thing to do.
But things had changed. Kyle was done with accepting sacrifices. He didn't want to do what he thought was the smart thing to do. He wanted to do what he wanted to do.
Swamp Dragon had sacrificed too many people for the "greater good". Kyle was done with Swamp Dragon. He had gone too far!His schemes had destroyed Ayuvar!
His schemes had killed Lara!
That was unforgivable, and if Kyle ever found Swamp Dragon, he would kill him.
Sadly, Swamp Dragon had apparently already suspected that Kyle had undergone his Fusion. The reason why the Fusion was so relevant wasn't the increase in power it gave Kyle. Even without the Fusion, he could kill Swamp Dragon easily.
The Fusion was relevant since it represented a new beginning. According to the world, the being known as Kyle no longer existed. What had replaced him was the being that used the Energy of two specific Imposing Laws to identify itself.
Kyle's sins and oaths had nothing to do with this new being.
This was the only opportunity a Seeker received to start again. No negative Karmic Luck. No positive Karmic Luck. No oaths.
When someone declared their new existence, everything that had happened before then would be forgotten. Only the Karmic Lines remained.
That was why Kyle was no longer bound by his oath to allow Swamp Dragon to become the Overseer.
"What did he want?" Kyle asked. "Why did he risk exposing himself to me by talking to you?"
"He came to tell me about the plan," Sebastian answered. "He told me about the Overseer and his plan to kill her."
"He met the Overseer?" Kyle asked.
"No, Fierce Breaker did, but that actually isn't relevant since the Overseer is just as we had imagined her to be, apparently," Sebastian explained.
"What's this plan?" Kyle asked with some annoyance. "Let me guess, more sacrifices."
Sebastian sighed. "As he put it, we are the inferior party. If we want to win, we have to sacrifice more than the enemy."
"What else is there to sacrifice?!" Kyle shouted. "We've already sacrificed everything, aside from our lives!"
"Aside from our lives, yes," Sebastian answered with a hollow chuckle.
Kyle's eyes narrowed, and the world around him shook. "He wants you to sacrifice yourself?!"
"According to what he told me, my death would help his plan to succeed, but it might not be necessary. It's a last failsafe. I'm not the only one. His plan includes all of our lives, including his own."
"Mine as well?" Kyle asked coldly.
"Yep," Sebastian answered neutrally.
"That means he's not betting on me," Kyle commented. "He doubts that I can win against the Overseer."
"He doesn't think you can win by yourself," Sebastian said. "You need help in the battle, but there's no one in this world who's powerful enough to help you. That's why you can't win."
Kyle took a deep breath. He knew that the Overseer was exceptionally powerful, but he didn't think that they were unbeatable.
"And he's certain?" Kyle asked coldly.
Sebastian nodded. "If you know all of the Laws in Ayuvar, including the Elemental Laws and the Primordial Force Laws, you would be helpless. If you have access to an Imposing Law with 100% quality on top of that, you would still be helpless. If you also have access to the Minor Law of Death, you would be just as helpless."
"If you had the most powerful Refined Law you can theoretically create, on top of having all of these other things, you would be able to survive for just a couple of strikes, but you wouldn't even be able to hurt her."
"The reason is the gap in Realms. Swamp Dragon said that there is no doubt in his mind that, if you manage to become an Immortal and if you have all of the powers mentioned earlier, the Overseer will die. However, he also said that there is no doubt in his mind that the Overseer won't allow you to become Immortal."
"There is a slight chance that she will allow others to become Immortal, but there is no way that she will allow you to become one. If you try to advance in secret, she will notice, and since she doesn't know you, she will just kill you. If you introduce yourself openly and challenge her pride, she will still kill you."
"She has granted Fierce Breaker the opportunity to advance so that she can beat him at his strongest, but that's because she doesn't even consider Fierce Breaker a threat. That won't be the case with you."
"There's no way you can win on your own," Sebastian repeated.
Kyle frowned. "The gap between Realms is that massive?"
"It is the biggest gap between Realms," Sebastian said. "There are no bigger gaps."
Kyle looked towards the east for a bit. He knew that the difference in power was massive, but was it truly that massive?
"Did he mention the Law of Karmic Causality?" Kyle asked.
"He did," Sebastian answered. "I asked him if the Law of Karmic Causality was included when he talked about you knowing all the Laws in Ayuvar."
Sebastian sighed. "He said my comment was stupid. The Overseer is unaffected by the rules of Karma. Knowing the Law won't make a difference."
"What about becoming a Legendary Ascendant?" Kyle asked.
"He said it might make a difference, but not a large one. The battle would still be too difficult. If you can somehow reach that level, you might have a tiny opportunity to succeed."
When Kyle heard that, a small glimmer of realization appeared in his eyes. 'Swamp Dragon knows a lot, but there have never been any Legendary Ascendants in history. In fact, there has only been a single Unique Ascendant.'
'He's only including the extra Energy in his calculations. He doesn't realize that I can combine the power of two Avatars.'
'I may actually have a shot, assuming I fulfill all the other criteria.'
'It's not hopeless.'
"What is his plan even about?" Kyle asked.
Sebastian sighed. "I... don't want to tell you."
Kyle's brows furrowed. "Why not?"
"Because you won't follow it."
"Wait," Kyle shouted in shock, "you're planning on doing what Swamp Dragon said?!"
Sebastian looked to the side.
"It's a good plan. It's the best shot we have. Also, it might not even come to that point. The Overseer might die before then."
