Chapter 1096: Future Fight
Chapter 1096: Future Fight
"You can see my progress," Kyle answered evenly, using his suppressed rage to imitate Fierce Breaker's cold attitude.
"Don't play games with me," the Overseer answered in annoyance. "When I ask you a question, I want to hear a clear answer. Don't forget who's in charge."
"If you wish to hear an answer, fine," Kyle stated. "Thanks to the hammer, my Imposing Law has almost reached perfection, but the last step is difficult to take. Achieving perfection requires comprehension, realization, and opportunity. I need to combine everything into a perfect whole."
"It could happen tomorrow. It could never happen. It all depends on fate's whims."
The Overseer narrowed her eyes. "You have assured me that this plan will work," she said with a threatening voice.
"One way or another, it will work," Kyle answered. "I am currently trying to assimilate the hammer into my own existence, which is why it's taking so long. If push comes to shove, I can still let the hammer assimilate my existence. At that point, I would cease to exist, and I would turn into Kyle."
"However, I don't want that to happen for obvious reasons. Just like you, I don't want to die."
The Overseer glared at Kyle with intensity. "I've waited long enough for my freedom. How can I be sure that you will sacrifice yourself if you don't succeed?"
"You can't," Kyle answered. "Also, you don't want me to be assimilated as well."
The Overseer snorted. "And why is that?""You've seen Kyle," Kyle commented with an even voice. "If he resurrects, do you believe that he would want to help you? You and Swamp Dragon have taken almost everything that he holds dear. Compared to me, he's someone who listens to his heart more than his brain. Most likely, he would just try to kill you, even if he knows that he can't win. As long as you and Swamp Dragon don't get what you want, he will be fine with dying."
The Overseer remembered the one instance in which she had seen Kyle.
His aura had been so bright and intense. Even more, his aura didn't feel like the aura of a person who would simply accept their circumstances.
The Overseer looked at Fierce Breaker's aura. His aura was even more intense than Kyle's aura, but that was to be expected. Kyle had been a Spirit Lord, while Fierce Breaker was a Fulfilled Ascendant. Even more, Fierce Breaker had already undergone his Fusion. As a mere Spirit Lord, Kyle couldn't have possibly undergone his Fusion already.
If Fierce Breaker's aura was already this intense, how intense would Kyle's aura be if he reached Fierce Breaker's level?
A slight feeling of danger and threat washed over the Overseer.
"A small chance of success is better than no chance of success," the Overseer answered. "You have around 850,000 years of longevity left. I'll give you 750,000 years. If you can't finish your Imposing Law by then, I will force you to become one with the hammer."
"That was also my plan," Kyle answered. "I'm not someone who runs from a fight. I've decided to fight Kyle for supremacy, and if it turns out that I can't win, despite all of my advantages, I will admit defeat. This is a fight to the death. Running is not an option."
"Don't go back on your word," the Overseer said.
"I should say the same thing to you," Kyle answered. "You still owe me a fight."
The Overseer looked at Kyle with annoyed boredom. "You still wish to fight?"
"As I've said, I don't run from battles," Kyle answered. "I realize that I can't become an Immortal with our new circumstances, but I've said what I've said. At least, with the Realm gap between us..."
Kyle smirked. "The fight might actually have some suspense."
The Overseer just looked at Kyle like he was a lost cause.
"You don't have an Avatar," Kyle added. "You don't have an Imposing Law. You've only been an Advanced Ascendant. I might not be able to beat you now, but if I learn a couple more Laws, I might just pull it off."
The Overseer slowly blinked once.
This idiot only believed that he could win because his power was so low that he couldn't even perceive the true gap between them. This guy could only count to a hundred and believed that he could count to a thousand as long as he counted to a hundred once more. He was trying to evaluate an Immortal's power as a mere Mortal.
"You will get your fight in 750,000 years," the Overseer said. "It might even help you perfect your Imposing Law."
"I'm looking forward to it," Kyle answered with a cold chuckle.
The Overseer just teleported away without saying anything.
After the Overseer left, Kyle just chuckled to himself again. He knew that the Overseer was still watching, but that didn't matter. The Overseer had already formed her opinion of Kyle, and almost all of Kyle's actions would be distorted by her perceived reality.
'750,000 years,' Kyle thought. 'That's more than enough.'
'Let's hope you don't get cold feet.'
A moment later, Kyle listened to his instincts and realized that there were two urges hidden deep inside of himself. Most of the time, people, and even Seekers, couldn't really tell what their instincts wanted them to do. Yet, Kyle had analyzed and listened to his instincts so many times that he had become very good at discerning the true purpose of his instincts.
'Every Seeker subconsciously interacts with reality, its rules, and its Laws. Over a long period of time, their instincts find patterns in reality. Their instincts do not know what these patterns represent or what they mean, but they have seen these patterns many times before, and most of the time, these patterns were followed by other patterns.'
'Instincts are a way to listen to reality itself.'
As Kyle listened to the two things his instincts wanted him to do, he realized what their goal was.
'You want me to define my existence. Neither Fierce Breaker nor my hammer-self have defined our existence after undergoing Fusion. I'm still a blank slate. I am a new existence without a name.'
'Sometimes, listening to your instincts is not a good idea. If I were to define my existence right now, my aura would undergo a substantial change. The Overseer would definitely notice.'
'Luckily, I don't need to define my existence immediately. As long as I do it before becoming Immortal, nothing bad will happen.'
'And the second thing my instincts want me to do...'
'You want me to use my Refined Law. You say that something amazing will happen if I use my Refined Law.'
Kyle chuckled a bit.
'I guess that's the way to become a Legendary Ascendant. Pushing your Imposing Law to 100% quality within the Fusion Realm probably consumes almost all of someone's longevity, assuming they used their own body as an Imposing Law. This doesn't leave enough time to create a powerful Refined Law.'
'Unless you've used your weapon. It's much easier to create an Imposing Law with a weapon that you've been using for your entire life. If you do it that way, you might still have enough time to create a powerful Refined Law.'
'Maybe your Imposing Law also needs to have the ability to use more than 100% of your Energy, which could only be accomplished by creating an Avatar in the form of a weapon. Sadly, I can't be sure what the requirements are.'
Kyle grinned a bit.
'I only know that I already fulfill them.'
