Chapter 1107: The Most Dangerous Thing
Chapter 1107: The Most Dangerous Thing
Swamp Dragon created an Emblem and threw it towards Red. These Emblems were similar to the Emblems Humanity had issued before the great storm. They showed someone's status and their permissions.
Red accepted the Emblem and attached it to his shirt. Then, he looked at Swamp Dragon evenly.
"Around 650,000 years," he said without elaborating.
"I understand," Swamp Dragon answered. "If you need anything, you may contact me whenever you want."
Kyle knew that Swamp Dragon had noticed the hidden meaning in his statement, and he had reacted just as Kyle had predicted.
'In 650,000 years, you will die,' Kyle thought. 'But you already knew that, right? You've always been like this, and I don't think the inheritance has changed this part of you.'
'You've ruined so many people's lives, knowing that they will one day kill you. You've known that I would eventually kill you ever since you came up with this plan. To you, this is an acceptable trade.'
Kyle remembered how he had looked up to Swamp Dragon when they had still been members of the Array of Stars. This willingness to give his life for something he believed in was what Kyle had admired most in Swamp Dragon.
It was still something Kyle could respect. Sadly, Swamp Dragon had gone too far.
After throwing one last glance at Swamp Dragon, Red teleported away, leaving the leaders of Budding Forest to themselves.Moments later, several orders were issued. Red was not to be disturbed by any person inside Budding Forest's territory.
Meanwhile, Red appeared in front of the next Law Well. Colorful lightning turned into different silhouettes, which clashed with different Formation Arrays.
'Immortal Lightning,' Kyle thought as Red saw the figures. 'It's similar to Immortal Earth, but the figures don't seem to be stable. Lightning only exists for a short moment, and the figures are similarly short-lived.'
Red watched as a tiger made of lightning charged towards a Barrier Formation Array. It lifted one of its claws and slashed forward. Its body vanished as all parts of its existence flowed into the claw strike.
BOOOOM!
A tremendous explosion of lightning shook the Law Well, and the Formation Array burned through more Energy Stones.
'This seems like a waste of resources,' Kyle thought. "The powers of Law Wells don't stretch past their boundaries. Why waste so many Energy Stones to contain something that doesn't need to be contained?'
Red approached the Law Well. His Emblem shone for a short moment, and a hole opened in the Formation Arrays.
Red entered the Law Well through the holes, which closed directly behind him.
For now, there was no other person inside the Law Well.
As soon as he entered, countless lightning bolts gathered around Red. The lightning bolts took on the shape of all kinds of things. Animals, tools, plants, weapons, humans, rocks...
It was like the lightning was mimicking random things that existed in Kyle's memories.
Naturally, all of the objects flew towards Red.
BOOOOM!
The different constructs of lightning hit Red, and his Energy dropped a bit.
'It's already burning a lot of its power,' Kyle thought as he moved to the side. "The other two Immortal Elements had ways that I could use to strengthen or weaken their powers. Based on the current power of the lightning, I am doing something that strengthens it.'
Kyle's perception focused on the Law Well, analyzing every bit of movement and transformation.
More figures appeared, and this time, they became more detailed.
One of the figures took on the shape of a powerful Demon, while another one took on the shape of a detailed and graceful sword.
When the next waves of attacks hit Red, his Energy dropped significantly.
'I still have enough Energy to resist another strike,' Kyle thought. 'I should focus more on the attacks themselves.'
Kyle's perception focused on the area immediately around him, ignoring most of the Law Well.
A moment later, he saw several flowers and tools made of lightning shooting towards him. The attacks exploded on his body, but this time, he barely lost any Energy. The amount of Energy he lost was so small that he recovered more than he had lost.
'Is that it?' Kyle thought as he sensed the intense lightning around him.
To test his hypothesis, Kyle focused his perception on the Law Well as a whole, but this time, he wasn't even truly focusing on it. It was like looking at an object without focusing one's eyes.
Countless figures of lightning appeared all over the Law Well, and all of them charged at Kyle. Yet, these figures were all representations of harmless objects.
Nevertheless, the great number of them still reduced Red's Energy by quite a bit.
'Checks out,' Kyle thought.
Next, Kyle shut off the world around him and put his full focus on himself.
The next wave of attacks arrived, but they weren't stronger than the strikes of an Advanced Spirit Lord.
'That confirms it,' Kyle thought. 'Immortal Lightning reacts to the dominance of my perception. Every place I sense sends lightning towards me. If I don't really focus on it, it won't send a lot. If I look closely, it sends much more. By focusing on the entire Law Well with intensity, I can strengthen the Law Well to its peak. By not looking at it at all, I can weaken it to its lowest level.'
Kyle looked at small parts of the Law Well but with mild intensity.
He saw the images of beasts, Demons, and weapons. He even saw several familiar images. For example, he saw the image of that chameleon near Theodor's Inheritance Crypt. He also saw that one lobster that had almost killed him. There were also weapons that looked quite familiar. One of the swords seemed to be identical to the sword of Ray of Judgment.
"The chameleon I've fought was much weaker than Ray of Judgment, but the lightning bolt mimicking the chameleon had more power than Ray of Judgment's sword. Seems like the Immortal Lightning is basing its power on the things that I perceive to be dangerous. My fight with the chameleon was much more dangerous than my fight with Ray of Judgment, which is why it's stronger."
'I wonder, what's the most dangerous thing in my perception? What was the most dangerous thing I have ever experienced?'
Kyle shrank his perception to a small part of the Law Well and put all of his focus on it. He was looking at this spot like his life depended on it.
Then, something appeared.
Kyle had expected a couple of things to appear.
That one Elemental that had consumed the new Planet Kyle had been to.
The Twilight Countess.
The Lord.
The Overseer.
Yet, what greeted Kyle was something he hadn't seen in a long time.
It was a simple sword.
When Kyle saw that sword, he immediately recognized it, and in response, feelings of mortal danger swept through his existence. He felt like he had entered a brutal True Battle.
The sword shot towards Red, and Red pushed his hammer towards the sword.
BANG!
The sword exploded. The quality of its power was considerable, but since Kyle hadn't focused on a large area, it simply didn't have a lot of Energy. Red would have also easily survived the sword's strike if it had hit him in the chest.
'That makes sense,' Kyle thought as he released a deep breath.
In the Tertiary World, an Overseer had tried to destroy the World Wall.
In response, a sword had formed.
The Overseer had been helpless in front of the sword's power, and the only reason why he had survived was that the sword didn't want to kill him.
It had just warned him.
