Chapter 1170: Karmic Origin Search

Chapter 1170: Karmic Origin Search

Kyle awkwardly waited for a couple of minutes. Neither person said anything during the wait.

Then, someone teleported into the room. The person was a middle-aged man who wore the emerald uniforms of Auspicious Karma. The Energy around him was intense, but his True Hero Aura gave him a feeling of tranquility and serenity.

'This guy has a ton of Energy around him,' Kyle thought, 'but that's a good thing. I can't sense the Lord's Energy, but I can sense his Energy. That means that he's weaker than the Lord. Most likely, he's an Ascending Immortal or Zenith Immortal, but I can't tell for sure.'

"Greetings, Protector," the Karmic Detective spoke in a respectful voice while performing a polite bow.

The Protector just nodded in greeting and gestured to Kyle. "This is the person."

The Karmic Detective glanced at Kyle for a short moment. He could see that Kyle's aura was quite intense, but he was used to such auras. The majority of his targets were exceptionally talented Seekers. Exceptionally talented Seekers would receive a lot of investment from big Organizations, and the Organizations wanted to make sure that their investment would pay off.

The package the Protector had ordered was the most commonly used package. She had ordered an Immortal Karmic Detective, and she had requested an oath of confidentiality, which meant that the Karmic Detective wasn't allowed to share any information about his target with anyone except for the client. He wasn't even allowed to share his information with Auspicious Karma.

As was procedure, the Karmic Detective swore the oath of confidentiality before turning to Kyle with a polite smile. "You don't need to do anything. We will be done soon."

"Sure," Kyle answered with a shrug.

In the next moment, the eyes of the Karmic Detective shone in a multicolored light. Energy gathered around Kyle and the Karmic Detective, and after a couple of seconds, Kyle started to feel uncomfortable.

'This is a weird feeling. It feels a bit like being watched by some strange pervert.'

A moment later, Kyle noticed a couple of weak and grey Karmic Lines. He instinctively pushed one of them down.

"Please, don't make this harder than necessary," the Karmic Detective spoke in a firm tone. "If I fail this investigation, our client has to buy a more expensive package, and I don't think either of us wants that to happen."

"Sorry," Kyle answered flatly.

'It's better if I remain still. A more expensive package means a stronger Seekers. I don't want two Lords to know my secret.'

The grey Karmic Lines became more pronounced, and after some seconds, they started to change color slightly. Some turned green, while others turned red. There were a bit more red than green Karmic Lines, but they were still pretty balanced.

The Karmic Detective kept focusing on Kyle's Karmic Lines, which rapidly transformed. One of them turned bright and colorful before turning grey again. Then, the same thing happened with another one.

Over the next minutes, the Karmic Detective went through thousands of Karmic Lines. Eventually, all of Kyle's Karmic Lines became larger, revealing new Karmic Lines. This layer of Karmic Lines was more than a thousand times more numerous.

By now, the storm of Energy inside the room had become so intense that Kyle felt some difficulty remaining still. He felt like someone was constantly winding up a devastating attack that never came.

BANG!

The storm of Energy vanished, and all of Kyle's Karmic Lines returned to normal.

The Karmic Detective sighed with some exhaustion and took out an emblem that bore the symbol of Auspicious Karma. Their symbol was a meditating guy with a peaceful aura around him.

"Here's the report," the Karmic Detective said, handing the emblem to the Protector.

"Thank you," the Protector answered.

The Karmic Detective gave his goodbyes, and the Protector teleported him out of the room again.

Then, she activated her Communicator, which read all of the information in the report. She had already read through the report, but she wanted to know a bit more. These reports were designed so that Communicators could easily parse the information into a database.

After scanning the report, the Protector asked the database to use the report as a reference to search for registered Seekers. Some time later, she got a couple of matches and looked at Kyle.

Sadly, Kyle didn't know what the report contained about him. 'No idea how much she knows about me.'

"You have a history with the Array of Stars and the Contrast Empire," she commented.

Kyle became a bit nervous, but not overly so. He had already committed.

"I have some history with them," Kyle answered.

"What's your relationship with them?" she asked.

"Well..." Kyle replied slowly. "Not that great."

"How so?" the Protector asked slowly.

"Not sure how honest I can be," Kyle answered. "I don't know if you have some kind of diplomatic agreement to suppress dissidents or something."

The Protector blinked slowly. "The Contrast Empire is an oppressive tyrant, and the Array of Stars is a giant machine, operated by cowards. Speaking your mind won't get you into trouble with us."

Kyle scratched the back of his head. "That's similar to what I think of them. The Contrast Empire is far too oppressive and aggressive, while the Array of Stars is a vulture. I don't like either of them. I swear, I really dislike both of these Organizations. That oath is on the house."

The Protector kept looking at Kyle with an unreadable expression. "You also have some history with Inner World and the Grand Exchange. What about that?"

'She also knows that, huh?'

"I feel relatively neutral toward them. I've had some interactions, but they were limited. The few interactions I had with them were nice, but we didn't talk a lot. I don't have any issues with them, but I also don't have any loyalty to them."

"That doesn't fit the report," the Protector answered. "According to the report, you've had some conflict with one of them."

Kyle remembered the time Inner World's sub-Organization in the Secondary Sector tried to kill him. "Yeah, but it was not a big deal. It was resolved pretty quickly."

The Protector looked at Kyle for several seconds, which felt like an eternity to him.

"I told you, the report is thorough," the Protector said slowly. "We have a clear match."

Kyle remained silent as the Protector kept speaking. Volunteering more information wasn't a good idea.

"You once were a member of the Array of Stars," the Protector said, "and you've been to one of the Secondary Sectors belonging to the Contrast Empire. You were in the Secondary Sector with more Disciples from the Array of Stars. Your Organization was called Auspicious Karma."

Kyle tried his absolute best to remain calm, but deep inside, he was already preparing for the worst.

"Auspicious Karma had someone with the title of Descending Mountain and Azure Comet. The true name of this Seeker was Kyle."

Kyle took a deep breath, and his eyes slightly narrowed.

"Your legal identity states that your title is also Kyle," the Protector said. "Quite a coincidence, isn't it?"

Kyle didn't answer.

"I've told you that the report is thorough, Kyle," the Protector said slowly.

"Or should I say..."

"Fierce Breaker?"

"Surprised?" the Protector asked. "Your Karmic Lines are almost a perfect match with the Karmic Lines Fierce Breaker once had. Did you truly think that we would fall for the obvious fake-out? Just because you used your friend's name as a title doesn't mean that you are him."

"Or maybe Fierce Breaker just wanted to be Kyle."
