Chapter 1224: Shopping List

Chapter 1224: Shopping List

"If what you're saying is true, why are you telling me this?" the Ascending Immortal asked.

"Because I want to keep you guys off our backs," Kyle answered. "I named our team after an herbivore for a reason. I just want to find my shiny stones, but you guys have tried to interfere in our business twice now. I'll speak plainly. Don't mess with my team or me, or this will go public."

The Ascending Immortal looked at Kyle for a bit.

"Understood," she answered calmly. "I'll mark our current grievances as settled. I assume this is what you want. I hope that certain hidden information will stay hidden as a result."

"As long as you don't hit me, I won't hit you," Kyle answered.

"Good," the Ascending Immortal answered. "Am I right to assume that my employee won't return anymore?"

"I would be very surprised if he did," Kyle answered.

"Then, there's nothing left to talk about," the Ascending Immortal transmitted. "I wish you a fruitful Excursion."

"Good luck in your future endeavors and so on," Kyle answered.

The Ascending Immortal nodded before turning around.

Suddenly, a note popped out of Kyle. The Immortals who had noticed the exchange immediately locked onto the note and read its contents.

When the Ascending Immortal saw the note, she felt like her heart almost stopped.

That was... until she read the contents.

Copper, iron, magnesium.

"Whoops," Kyle shouted as he quickly put the note back into his Soul Space. "Sorry, that was my shopping list. Guess I accidentally dropped it."

The Ascending Immortal's eyes became terrifying as she glared at Kyle with severity. She had received the message loud and clear.

"Do you usually make notes?" she asked slowly.

"I can be forgetful at times," Kyle answered with some embarrassment. "I constantly write small little notes. You should see my Soul Space. There are a bunch of notes in there about all sorts of things. Could you imagine if I got hit by a Soul Attack and died? The Excursion Lobby would be littered with notes."

The Ascending Immortal silently glared at Kyle. "That's quite a hobby. Is it also normal for you to write notes on oath paper?"

"Of course!" Kyle answered. "I want to make sure that any note I take reflects the truth! After all, what if I accidentally write something down that's false? I would just confuse myself!"

The Ascending Immortal kept looking at Kyle. "Do you also keep these notes with other Avatars?"

"Of course not! These are personal notes! If one of my Avatars dies, everyone could read all about my secrets. No, I'm keeping all of the notes with my green Avatar. My green Avatar is always in places filled with people. The green one doesn't get to go on adventures because he's the worst one."

"Are there any other ways that you use to... keep your secrets?" the Ascending Immortal asked.

"Well, if I really like someone, I tell them some stories. I may even share some of my personal notes. I know, it's quite risky to expose yourself like this, but I just can't help it."

"I'm just an honest guy," Kyle said with a bright smile.

The Ascending Immortal walked closer to Kyle. Apparently, she wasn't interested in leaving anymore.

When she sent the next voice transmission, there was no more politeness, decorum, or grace.

"What do you want?" she asked.

"I don't want anything," Kyle replied with a smile. "I just don't want to be hit by a Soul Attack or an attack launched with the Law of Karmic Causality. It would really suck if an Ascending Immortal snuck up on one of my Avatars and killed all of them. By the way, weren't you about to leave? Are my notes that interesting to you? Wait, did my notes-"

"Stop playing this game!" she answered with authority and frustration. "How do we solve this?! I can agree to a ceasefire on behalf of Extended Family, but I can't protect you from every other Immortal in the Immortal Dimension! If a third party kills you, we will be in trouble as well."

"And why would I care?" Kyle asked with a shrug. "If I'm dead, I'm dead. A dead person doesn't care because they're dead."

"You want us to protect you," the Ascending Immortal commented dryly.

"No," Kyle replied. "I just don't want you to kill me. Is there a chance that you might suffer because of a third party? Yes, but that's still better than the alternative, isn't it?"

"You don't need to treat me like a family member, but you should also keep in mind that I'm not a stranger. Maybe it's best if you just view me as a member of Extended Family's extended family," Kyle transmitted with a smile.

The Ascending Immortal looked at Kyle for a bit longer without saying anything.

"That one was good, right?" Kyle asked with a proud smile.

"As long as secrets remain secret, there won't be any issues," she answered, ignoring Kyle's comment. "Good day!"

Then, she left the Excursion Lobby without wasting any more time.

'See you soon,' Kyle thought with a smile. 'Well, maybe not you personally, but you know what I mean.'

'Sucks that I can't keep Extended Family off my back, but at least they won't go against me openly.'

Kyle knew the weaknesses in his plan, and he knew that they knew as well.

'The only way to keep this matter from escalating is to kill my green Avatar when there are no other people around. To achieve that, they need to lure my Avatar out of the city, and the only way to lure Green out is to kill Red and Blue. As long as I have only one Avatar left, they win.'

'Either I go out, and they can kill me in secret, or I stay, and I will never fall victim to a third party.'

'However, they also can't just directly kill my other two Avatars. After all, if they openly kill one of my Avatars, I might release the information in the heat of the moment.'

'That means they have to kill my Avatars in secret, and it must look like they had no involvement in this matter.'

'I wonder what they will do. I doubt that they will just let it slide.'

"Anything we should know?" Abyssal Depths asked Kyle.

"Not really," Kyle answered. "The past issues between us have been solved. They won't send another guy after us to ask for repayment or whatever. However, I also can't promise that they won't do anything. Let's just say that they can't openly go after us, but they also really, really don't like me."

"Are you willing to share details?" Abyssal Depths asked.

Kyle weighed his options for a bit. Abyssal Depths was part of his team, but revealing too much might also be an issue.

'Eh, fuck it. I can tell her a bit,' Kyle thought.

"I can tell you the reason, but I won't go into any details."

"I'm blackmailing them. As long as they don't fuck with us, I won't release the files."
