Chapter 1231: Harvest
Chapter 1231: Harvest
Since they found the loot and knew where to go, the team decided to retreat for a moment. This plant hadn't come into contact with another competing life in a long time, and it had probably forgotten how dangerous they could be. Yet, if one of its fruits were suddenly pulled off, it might remember and start resisting.
Of course, as a plant, it wasn't very powerful in combat. However, what it could do was retreat. Plants were not very fast, but even a little bit of speed at this depth was enough. The plant didn't fear the pressure of the surrounding ground. Because of that, it was better to widen the funnel so that it encompassed the entire length of the plant.
Luckily, they didn't need to widen the funnel by a lot.
They increased the size of the funnel, which took a couple of days. It was important to remember that the Leader had dug a tunnel, and this tunnel had to be incorporated into the funnel as well.
Eventually, just a bit of stone was between the team and the vine. Even if it moved around, it wouldn't cause a lot of damage to the walls since it was at the very bottom.
Kyle had asked if there was an easier way to get the fruits, like communicating with the vine, but Spring of Joy had shut it down. Concept transmissions were the only way to communicate with a plant, but communications went both ways. If Kyle simply sent a concept transmission, chances were high that the plant would answer, and if Kyle didn't reply, it might escape.
Concept transmissions could be deadly since they immediately influenced someone's mind. Communicating with most plants wasn't too dangerous, but most plants were not ancient Immortal plants. The older and more powerful a plant was, the heavier its concept transmission would be. This vine might not be insanely powerful, but its age was unknown. It could just be a couple of million years old, but it could also be billions of years old.
The weight of a billion years of nothing but staying stationary and consuming Energy was heavy. There had been instances in which Immortals had tried to communicate with plants like this one, and many of them ended horribly.
When the Immortals had accepted the concept transmission, they had been overwhelmed by the sheer weight of something that might as well be eternity for them. They stopped moving and responding to everyone. Just like a plant, they just... kept existing. While they hadn't died, they had practically stopped being human. In lighter cases, the Immortals had just become lazier and more lethargic. Creating Energy Stones just seemed like a much better method to advance than risking their lives.
In fact, some of the Immortals who dedicated their life to creating Energy Stones had gone onto this path because they had accepted the concept transmission from an old plant.
While Kyle felt some empathy for the vine, it wasn't nearly strong enough for him to put himself in any kind of danger.
"Everyone ready?" Kyle asked, looking at Abyssal Depths, the Leader, and the two Adept Immortals.
"We're ready," the Leader answered.
"Then..." Kyle slowly transmitted as everyone prepared.
"Go!"
BANG!
Five attacks hit the stone below them at different levels. The stones exploded, but the attacks had been launched in such a way that they avoided hurting the plant. For Immortals, doing something like this wasn't difficult.
The vine was revealed. In total, it had exactly 79 fruits, which had been within the range of what Spring of Joy had predicted.
The five Immortals activated their Domains to restrict and stabilize reality. For now, the vine still remained stationary.
Then, the two Adept Immortals and Abyssal Depths enlarged their bodies and moved their arms forward. Within an instant, they grabbed the huge vine with their massive hands, keeping it stationary.
Almost immediately, the vine started to wriggle. The Adept Immortals held firm, but it was also clear that it wasn't easy for them to keep the vine in place. While it just had the Energy Density of an Adept Immortal, it also had a massive size. The others lost Energy Density after expanding, essentially reducing their Realm.
The ground rumbled, and the walls shook as the vine tried to retreat. At the same time, Kyle and the Leader shot towards the plant from different ends.
Kyle rapidly moved from fruit to fruit, tearing them off their stems. Pulling a fruit from the vine's stem wasn't easy and took a lot of power.
The Energy Storages of the other Immortals dropped as they kept suppressing the vine.
They couldn't hold it forever. Luckily, Kyle and the Leader were very quick.
"Done!" Kyle transmitted as he put the 25th Law Comprehension Fruit into his Soul Space.
"You can let it go," the Leader transmitted. She had also already harvested all of her fruits.
The Immortals let go and returned to their normal sizes, and within an instant, the bottom of the funnel exploded. The vine rapidly vibrated, turning the stone around it into fine sand. Due to the intense gravity, the vine essentially fell through the sand with surprising speed. At the same time, one of its ends vibrated even stronger, creating even more sand. This made it fall diagonally downward.
It wasn't very fast, but its speed of traveling through the ground was still far greater than their speed of digging.
Instead of stopping the vine, they simply watched it leave. Leaving 10% of the fruits would guarantee its survival, but it might also survive with just 5% of the fruits. By leaving it with 29 fruits, they had essentially left it with about 37% of its fruits. This was far more than necessary. According to the rules of the world, they could have taken many more fruits without causing any damage.
Naturally, the world repaid them for their kindness.
Everyone noticed a green burst of Karmic Luck. The vast majority of the positive Karmic Luck went to Team Ankylosaurus. As the decision-maker, and since he had two Avatars present, Kyle received the most Karmic Luck.
When everyone looked at their Karmic Luck, their eyes widened.
This was more than they had expected!
Kyle's Karmic Luck climbed through the roof. Within an instant, he received the first Blessing of Karmic Luck, but it didn't stop there. Immediately afterward, he received the Second Blessing of Karmic Luck. That was when it slowed down, but it didn't stop completely. With one last burst, he reached the Third Blessing of Karmic Luck and condensed his Minor Hero Aura.
Sebastian didn't get nearly as much Karmic Luck as Kyle, but it was still enough to give him the last push. He was the first member of Team Ankylosaurus who attained the Fourth Blessing of Karmic Luck, Visions of Destiny.
Abyssal Depths also gained a lot of Karmic Luck. Her First Curse of Karmic Luck vanished, and her Karmic Luck stabilized a bit above neutrality.
Team Wooly Sheep also received some Karmic Luck, but as expected, it wasn't a lot. All of them already had at least a Minor Hero Aura. None of them managed to gain a new Blessing of Karmic Luck.
However, instead of feeling ecstatic and showing a smile...
Kyle felt enraged and narrowed his eyes.
