Chapter 1037: Chu Liangxing; Mr. Wang's Suggestion
Chapter 1037: Chu Liangxing; Mr. Wang’s Suggestion
Barely half an hour later, Mr. Wang entered the Judicial Building. He needed this much time to return because he had to hide Max on his shoulder from all the prying eyes or at least make sure none would recognise him.
A while later, he handed him to the maids who served him and ordered them to bathe him clean and dress him properly before leaving for the Judicial Officer’s office.
Arriving before the office, he stopped and knocked on the door three times.
“Come in.” The Judicial Officer’s voice came from inside.
When Mr. Wang pushed open the door and entered, the Judicial Officer’s eyes flickered for the briefest of moments.
“What did it go?” He asked,
“My Lord, I found the boy but he doesn’t have the Golden Book. Patriarch Mi and the other two might have taken it so I have tasked people to look for them in the Dark Valley and the city. We’ll soon have an answer.” Reported Mr. Wang and it made the Judicial Officer frown and ask, “Why didn’t you stay in the Dark Valley and look for them yourself?”
“Because I had to bring Gu Chen back.” Answered Mr. Wang and it surprised the Judicial Officer, “You brought him back?”
“Yes. If you don’t mind, can you come see him and decide what we should do with him?” Requested Mr. Wang.
“Alright. Wait for a moment outside.” Ordered the Judicial Officer after a moment’s thought.
Shua!
As soon as Mr. Wang left the office, the shadow silently emerged behind and a cold voice echoed in the Judicial Officer’s ears, “What are you planning, Chu Liangxing?”
“Nothing. Just going to take a look at the boy and… you will stay here.” The Judicial Officer, Chu Liangxing calmly said as he stood up.
The shadow scowled at him, “You are ordering me?”
“I’m telling you. I can’t let you spy on everything. You aren’t so trustworthy, are you?” Said Chu Liangxing without looking back and walked out of the room.
The moment he stepped out of the room, the shadow detached it from himself and merged with the desk’s shadow. A moment later, two dark red eyes appeared there and a low, sneering voice sounded, “Being rebellious huh? Just let me get my hands on that accursed book. Then I’ll have you pay the price of being disrespectful to this lord.”
…
Mr. Wang stared at Chu Liangxing in silence when he came out of the office. Only when Chu Liangxing nodded did he relax and began walking towards his chambers.
Soon, they arrived there and entered his chambers. The maids had already cleaned and clothed Max and he was now lying on a sofa, covered with a quilt.
Chu Liangxing walked over. After staring at him for a moment, he reached out and pressed a finger on Max’s forehead.
Mr. Wang glanced at the maids who understood what he wanted and immediately filed out of the chambers while closing the door shut after them.
A moment later, Chu Liangxing glanced at him, unable to hide the flicker of surprise in his eyes, “He has reached the Marrow Cleansing realm?”
“Indeed.” Mr. Wang nodded.
Chu Liangxing was silent for a moment before he took a seat on the nearby chair, poured himself some wine before pouring some in another glass for Mr. Wang and said, “Go on, tell me what’s up?”
Mr. Wang sat before him, picked up his wine glass but didn’t take a sip. His expression turning solemn, he slowly explained everything that happened and everything he saw.
Chu Liangxing’s leisurely mood vanished when he heard about the indistinct figure and the peculiar deaths of the beasts.
After a while, he murmured, “It seems the rumors are true. The Dark Valley has extraordinary origins.”
After a few moments, he glanced at Mr. Wang and said, “That entity was clearly protecting him and the only reason it didn’t kill you was because it wanted you to bring him out of the valley.”
Mr. Wang nodded and asked, “So what do you plan on doing now?”
Chu Liangxing leaned back in the chair and sipped the wine before calmly saying, “I can’t possibly harm someone an entity so powerful sees in a favorable light, can I?”
“What if Patriarch Mi’s group hadn’t taken the Golden Book from him and he refuses to hand it over to you?” asked Mr. Wang.
Chu Liangxing’s eyes narrowed and his face turned expressionless, “Then I’ll have no choice but to force it out of him.”
Mr. Wang wasn’t surprised by his response because his daughter’s life was at stake. To save her, Chu Liangxing would go to any length necessary, this included offending the entity that protected Gu Chen.
“Chu Liangxing, I suggest you don’t do that.” Mr. Wang said. If anyone had heard him call Chu Liangxing by his name, they would have been quite shocked.
“Oh?” Chu Liangxing looked at him in surprise. Then he became curious since despite knowing what was at stake, he was still saying this meant he had something in mind… a possible solution to his predicament. So he asked, “What do you suggest I do then?”
Mr. Wang glanced at Gu Chen and said, “That entity clearly favours him. Maybe he can ask it to save Qin’er.”
Chu Liangxing’s hand holding the wine glass trembled when he heard this and a glint of hope flickered in his eyes.
After a while, he said, “We… can try it.”
It would be very good for him If he didn’t have to rely on that shadow to save his daughter as it would save him from many troubles.
…
A while later, a maid knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Mr. Wang said.
The maid entered the chambers and bowed to both of them before saying, “Sir Moli, Sir Zhenyu and Sir Han wants to meet you, Mr. Wang. They say they have something to report to you.”
“Bring them here.” Ordered Mr. Wang. These three were the late stage Bone Tempering cultivators he had taken to the Dark Valley.
“Yes, Mr. Wang.” The maid retreated and soon returned with the trio.
The Trio immediately bent into a deep bow when they saw Chu Liangxing sitting there, “Greetings, My Lord!”
“Mm.” Chu Liangxing nodded and asked, “So what did you find out?”
“My Lord, Mr. Wang, Patriarch Mi is dead. We found his skeleton and from its condition, he was brutally tortured.” Moli reported while glancing at the unconscious Gu Chen on the sofa. He then continued, “As for the other two—Patriarch Xing and Patriarch Gong—they had returned to their families. When we interrogated them, they revealed that Gu Chen’s strength had scared them and they had retreated even though Patriarch Mi wanted them to stay and fight alongside him.”
“Keep an eye on those two. Don’t let them leave their family estates until I say otherwise.” Chu Liangxing ordered, “You can leave now. Thank you for your service.”
The three immediately bowed, “It’s our honor to serve you, My Lord.” Then they retreated from the chambers.
“It seems we have to wait for him to wake up whether it’s to find out where the Golden Book is or request his cooperation.” Chu Liangxing said as he glanced at Gu Chen.
