Chapter 1052: Slaughtering Liu Family [2]

Swoosh!

Crushing his neck and casually throwing him to the side didn’t affect his speed and he continued chasing after the female Elder. He had to say, she had better judgement than the other three because right after he killed the first guy with the rock-throw, she had turned around to escape which gave her a precious few seconds’ head start.

Unfortunately, however, it wasn’t going to be of any help because the one chasing her was a True Blue Marrow Cleansing realm cultivator.

Swoosh!

Within a few seconds, he caught up to her and extended his hand to crush her neck. But before he could catch her, a thin energy shield appeared around her and stopped his grab.

‘A talisman?’ Max raised his brows slightly but was largely unbothered because while the barrier formed around wasn’t weak, it wasn’t strong enough to take his full powered punch.

Just as he drew his elbow back to shatter it, the Third Elder glanced back at him with a pleading look in her eyes. He was about to ignore it when she unexpectedly slowed down.

After thinking for a moment, he didn’t make any move and also slowed down. A moment later, they stopped and the Third Elder turned around before she fell to her knees and slammed her head on the ground right before his feet.

“Patriarch Gu, whatever the Liu family has done to the Gu Family, Liu Bashan and the First Elder are largely responsible. For several years, I have been posted in the Middle City and have never done anything to or interacted with the Gu family in any way. I’m only guilty by association. Please give me a chance to redeem myself. I don’t want to die.” Her voice trembled and tears flowed out from her eyes as she pleaded.

“No one wants to die but it doesn’t mean they won’t.” Max sneered and raised his leg, about to stomp on her head to shatter the barrier and her head in one go.

The Third Elder also felt this and her pupils constricted while her heart stopped beating. Suddenly, she remembered something and hurriedly shouted, “I helped your Elder Sister!!”

Shua!

Max’s leg paused half an inch above the barrier which had already begun to flicker, indicating it was running out of energy.

“If you are lying, your end will be a lot more painful.” He said after a moment.

“I’m not lying—” His response relieved the Third Elder and she began to explain herself but Max interrupted her, “I’ll deal with you later.”

Swoosh!

Saying this, he rushed in the direction of the First Elder’s residence. When the LIu and Gu families were on good terms, he had come here a few times and therefore knew where the important figures of the family were living. This was also the reason he knew the Third Elder hadn’t lied about the part where she said she had been posted in the Middle City for several years.

Just a short bit later, he arrived before the First Elder’s residence.

The gatekeepers were so scared that their legs gave out and they fell on their buttocks upon seeing him.

“I’ll give a painless death. Tell me if your First Elder is inside or has left?”He said.

“I–He… He is inside, My Lord. Please spare—”

Crack! Crack!

Before the guy could finish, Max reached out and snapped their necks.

Bang!

A kick shattered the door and he flashed inside. After sweeping his gaze across the courtyard and ensuring he wasn’t hiding there, he entered the residence. He checked the rooms one by one but didn’t find him. When he checked the last one, he stopped in his tracks and his murderous rage flared even more because in front of was the bloody corpse of Gu Lichen, his eyes still open, staring at the ceiling.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

He walked over slowly as if his legs had suddenly become heavy. Crouching down beside his body, he closed his eyes and murmured, “Elder… I’ll avenge you and your family. Hope you reunite with your family in the afterlife.”

With that, he left the room and arrived at the kitchen in the back. Instantly, he noticed a hidden compartment which led to the outside of the Liu Estate.

“You won’t escape.” Saying this softly, he turned around and walked out of his residence. Then resumed his killing spree. In just an hour, save for the Third Elder and her family who he didn’t touch and a few who had taken the opportunity and escaped when he was looking for Liu’s first elder, everyone was dead.

“Come to the Gu Family within an hour if you don’t want me to track you and your family down.” Max told the Third Elder while glancing behind her, noticing four people cowering in the distance. They were her son, her daughter-in-law and their young kids, a son and daughter.

“I will.” The Third Elder nodded.

Max said nothing and left the Liu estate openly, his barely masked face was devoid of any emotion.

Not surprisingly, a crowd was gathered before the estate and were peeking inside. Most of them looked solemn and grave, feeling bad for the Liu family, while the others were largely indifferent and some even had sadistic joy in their eyes.

When he walked out, silence befell the area. He didn’t even glance at them and just walked away. When he arrived in a street where no one was, he removed his mask and dumped it into a trashcan.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Right before he reached the Gu Estate, three people dressed in the Judicial Office’s uniform appeared before him. The one leading them was someone familiar—the late stage, Bone Tempering cultivator, Milo.

Currently, his expression was overcast, just like the other two as he stared at him. While the Judicial Officer and Gu Chen had a good relationship, it didn’t mean he could be allowed to violate the city’s rules. Even the Judicial Officer would be implicated if he tried to shield him.

“What is it?” Max asked, staring back at him with his hands folded behind his back and his spine straight.

“We received the reports that you went to the Liu family and slaughtered them.” said Milo, his voice grave, “We need you to come with us–”

“Oh?” Max raised his brows slightly seemingly in surprise, then he extended his hand toward him and calmly said, “Show me the proof that it was I and I’ll go with you.”

Milo paused.

Max smiled and walked past him, patting his shoulder as he did, “Come find me when you have proof. Until then, it’s best you don’t waste my time or yours.”

Milo stood there frozen even after Max had walked away. His companions exchanged a glance and said, “Don’t let it bother you, Brother Milo. We can just find the proof he wants and come arrest him later.”

Milo took a deep breath and instead of responding, he just said, “Let’s go. I can’t be bothered pursuing this matter any longer.”

“That’s also good.” His companions nodded, “We can just let those below us do the work.”

Milo non-committedly nodded, waves of shock surging in his heart.
