Chapter 1497: Not a Problem
Chapter 1497: Not a Problem
While the people cheered, Luna looked quite restless.
It looked like she had sneaked away during the celebration because she wanted to know her brother’s condition.
Even though it looked like she didn’t have a change of expression, just looking at how her eyes moved left and right made it quite clear about her situation.
So, Nathan also sneaked away and walked to her. "What’s wrong?"
Luna raised her head for a moment before looking down.
"Is there something wrong?" Nathan was worried. This was probably the first time she had reacted this way.
"Well, about that..." Ternius suddenly came from the right. He was drinking with Henry, and since Henry was the one responsible for taking care of the coffin, he was also with him.
Henry explained, "Her brother’s condition is rather worrying. Even though the Godfather has died, his mind hasn’t returned. Most likely, the one brainwashing him is not the Godfather, but the black cell itself."
"..." Nathan’s expression turned solemn. "So, nothing changes?"
"Unfortunately, yes." Henry sighed. Even though they had done a lot of things, it was a shame that nothing changed for Luna.
Ternius raised one finger. "Well, at least he is captured here, so I believe we can research the way to free him. But it will take time..."
Nathan thought for a moment. "I see."
It was no wonder Luna looked sad. She wanted to go with him, but she couldn’t help but worry about her brother.
She had two reasons for helping Nathan. The first one was to fulfill her role as the chosen one, while the second purpose was to help her brother.
It looked like the second purpose could never be achieved.
Just remembering what happened to the Godfather when he was about to die, she was worried that her brother would commit suicide as well.
She couldn’t imagine what she would do during that time. In addition, as long as her brother’s life was in the black cell’s hands, she couldn’t go against the black cell.
Nathan looked down, contemplating. He asked, "May I have a moment with her?"
"Sure. We will leave you two." Henry and Ternius knew Nathan wanted to comfort her, so they just let them be.
"I’m sorry, dear husband..." Luna bit her lip.
Nathan surprisingly smiled as if he didn’t care about her brother’s condition. He patted Luna’s head while saying, "You have been helping me ever since we met. Shouldn’t I be the one helping you now?"
"But..." Luna shook her head helplessly. She knew how hopeless the situation was.
Nathan held her hand while saying, "Follow me. We will meet Vivian first."
"Vivian?" Luna was confused. How would Vivian fit into this situation?
However, Nathan didn’t let her say no. He simply brought her to Vivian.
"Nathan?" Vivian tilted her head in confusion. "What are you doing here? And with Luna?"
"Actually..." Nathan explained the situation to Vivian.
"That’s unfortunate... I’m sorry." Vivian sympathized with Luna’s situation.
"That’s indeed unfortunate, but you don’t know the reason I came to you?"
"Huh?" Vivian was flabbergasted. Did he think she could come up with a solution to all the problems in the world?
Nathan simply raised one finger. "I can actually think of one solution. If the black cell is the one affecting him, we just have to remove the black cell."
"Yeah. As if it’s that simple. Don’t speak of something serious so lightly." Vivian frowned.
Nathan sighed. "Well, it’s because I indeed have a solution. And here I am trying to consult you about it."
"A solution? Already? Not just a thought?" Bewildered, Vivian pondered what kind of solution it was.
"Husband? You don’t have to pity me..." Luna sighed.
Nathan continued, "I’m thinking about removing the black cell itself. You already know the method. Technically, not you, but Charlotte."
"Charlotte..." Vivian looked down before gasping as she remembered what method he was talking about. "Do you mean that research?"
"What research?" Luna asked. If even Vivian thought it was possible, there might still be hope for her brother.
"On our continent, there was research that succeeded a few hundred years ago. I’m talking about the research on the removal of the black cell from an alien."
"!!!" Luna widened her eyes in shock. "Is that possible?"
"I found the research and did encounter the alien. There wasn’t a black cell on its body. But this research was about aliens. If we wanted to do it on your brother, we would have to adjust the research, which would take time," confirmed Nathan.
Vivian agreed. "Still, because we already have a working solution, the adjustment itself shouldn’t take that long. At most one year. We will just take the humanoid alien sample because it’s the most similar one to a human."
"It’s just..." Nathan crossed his arms. "I don’t think our continent can handle this research. Hence, I’m thinking about handing this research to that guy."
"The doctor you brought with you?"
"Yeah. He is doing well. We can use the few billion we’ve left to ensure the research has enough funds, so his success should be guaranteed."
"That’s true... If we leave her brother to the dynasty and the empire, they might use him to control Luna, which might indirectly control you as well. However, our guy is independent, and it’s quite hard to figure out his connection to us."
"I’m thinking about using the Soul Contract with him. I want him to swear that he will remove the black cell and spare no expense. In exchange, the remaining money can be given to him. This will be a good payment, and with the Soul Contract, he has to fulfill that agreement."
"I don’t think it’s a bad idea." Evelyn nodded in agreement. "However, I believe the relevant party should be included in this conversation."
"I know." Nathan turned to Luna. "This is the solution I can think of right now, and I do think we have the highest chance of success. What will you do, Luna?"
Luna’s expression had changed. If this could indeed be successful, it would be a great thing. She could leave without any regrets.
Luna nodded furiously. "I understand."
