Chapter 1511: A Mission
Chapter 1511: A Mission
A few months ago.
"Are you sure about this?" Sullivan asked. He was staring at Selena and the girls.
"Yes, sir. We’ve heard about your request." Selena nodded. "Due to the influx of aliens, we know you are rather short-handed. Hence, it’ll be a good idea if we can help you with this investigation."
Sullivan squinted his eyes. He personally didn’t mind if they wanted to take it, but he had to make one thing clear. "Are you sure you guys are doing this because of the lack of personnel, not because of my granddaughter, right?"
Sullivan’s eyes shifted to Noelle.
Noelle scratched the back of her head.
Selena smiled wryly. It looked like there was no other choice but to come clean.
Noelle stepped forward while explaining, "Grandfather. Please allow me to help you. We know that this mission is dangerous, but because we know the danger, we wish to take on this challenge.
"I can’t deny that I want to help you as a family. I know how hard you’ve been working ever since the volcanic eruption. Still, I wish to lighten your burden even just a little bit."
There was no way Sullivan wasn’t moved by her words. But it was also concerning. "I did request three world class summoners to come here. I’ve been expecting your father and your master to come here, Selena Ashton."
Selena rubbed her cheek. That was what was supposed to happen. However, Selena had heard this information from her father.
After the rescue and settling the matters within the family, her father, who was originally at the peak of arcane level summoners, finally became a world class summoner.
And if the Sage was also coming, Sullivan would have the right number to proceed with his plan.
On the other hand, Selena and the groups were rather lacking. It was true that Selena had become a world class summoner, but she had barely become one. Out of all her familiars, Yin Zheng, Amphitrite, and Lilith were the only ones who had reached the threshold.
Risa was about to become one, but that would only happen after a few more weeks.
Noelle was the second person who had more than ten million ena in her body, but none of her familiars had reached this stage yet.
The rest of them were at the arcane level. They couldn’t be underestimated, but they still didn’t pass the requirement.
However, it was true that Selena’s ability had been creating a big ruckus for the people who paid attention to the news.
"Hmm..." Sullivan crossed his arms, contemplating.
Selena couldn’t really say anything. When she heard this news from her father, she discussed it with everyone. Noelle actually suggested that they should be the ones to do it.
The Sage and her father could go elsewhere. Sullivan had helped Noelle a lot and was the person she admired the most.
To have the opportunity to help him was something that Noelle had always hoped for.
She just didn’t expect this chance to come sooner than she originally thought.
"Grandfather. Please." Noelle walked to him. "I know that we’re asking too much, but please allow me to help you, Grandfather. I’m confident that I won’t disappoint you."
Selena added, "That’s right. Sir Sullivan, our group might not be qualified yet, but we should be able to fight three elite class aliens if necessary. Even if we can’t defeat them, we can at least escape safely.
"I personally can fight one of them. Noelle and Alavenya are capable of fighting one as long as they are supported by Serafina. Flora is able to control the battlefield so that they can focus on the elite class aliens rather than the lower-level aliens.
"So, I understand your worries, but I think we are capable enough to replace the people you request."
Selena made it more persuasive, but that didn’t matter to Sullivan.
He might look like a harsh grandfather, but he had a soft spot for his family.
Sullivan looked at Noelle. Without him realizing it, Noelle had grown this powerful. Still, she reminded him of his wife.
When she closed his eyes, he felt like he could see a woman sitting on top of a rock. With her hands on her cheeks to support her face, she hummed happily while watching Sullivan swinging his blade.
"You are still here?" Sullivan asked, glancing at her while swinging his sword down.
"Can’t I?"
"You can, but isn’t it boring for you?"
"I don’t find watching you boring." The blond-haired woman smiled. There was no trace of doubt in her eyes.
"..." Sullivan was a bit speechless. He pulled back his sword as if he planned to end his training. "You are really a weird woman."
The woman just smiled and took out a towel that she had prepared the whole time. "Here’s the towel to wipe your sweat."
"What? You were hiding it? No, why did you even bring this in the first place?"
"Because I know you are going to train all day. At least, you should wipe your sweat whenever it’s possible. I can’t fight, but I just want to help you even slightly."
Sullivan’s eyebrows twitched. "What are you talking about?"
"You are too aloof. I just can’t stop myself from helping you. Is that a problem?"
"Don’t you have anything better to do?" He shook his head helplessly.
"I do. See? I’ve brought my own book to study." She took out a book this time.
"Then go back and study."
"No."
"You..."
"Even though I can study and do all these things, my job will never be more dangerous than yours. All I can do is support you. I don’t plan to leave you alone."
"What? You’re going to say you like me or something?"
"Yes. I like you."
"W-What?" He blinked his eyes a few times in disbelief.
"So, don’t say anything else and just let me help you."
She wasn’t the one to listen, but at the same time, she was sincere and simply couldn’t leave anyone alone.
Sullivan couldn’t help but recall her figure in Noelle. Now that she had grown stronger, she wanted to help him.
And he just couldn’t say no.
