Chapter 1642: Nathan’s Request
Chapter 1642: Nathan’s Request
Nathan noted all the information after helping all the familiars. "So, from the looks of it, the karma will give you the highest return, but karma is a precious thing and you shouldn’t use it easily.
"Ena is lower, but we have so many aliens to kill, so it might not matter that much for us. We can just focus on killing them.
"The only problem is that we also need ena to improve. Which is why the combination of ena and my karma is probably the best option right now.
"Since I haven’t spent much karma yet, I should have no problem helping you guys. But I still have to be careful with my spending as well. I still have to help Selena and the others, including myself.
"We can’t win this war alone. I’m sure you know that. No matter how strong we are, you guys are still bound to me. In other words, we can’t be in two places at the same time.
"We need them to continue fighting the aliens. So, I’ve come to the conclusion that whenever there is a chance to gain more karma, I will let you guys do it, or I will do it myself.
"This karma will be divided into two. The first one will be for your own baptism. The second part will be used to increase your status.
"Any objections?"
The divine beasts agreed with the arrangement. They could finally get their chance to become a true god, after all.
Nathan continued, "In that case, I will need three things from you guys. The first is to erect statues for you."
"Statues?" They were confused.
"For worship. I’m not trying to glorify it, but these statues will be useful to gain karma. Every time they see your statues, they will be grateful to you for removing the ash cloud.
"Of course, that won’t be the main reason. Other people can’t do it, but because you guys are my divine beasts and I’m the unique summoner, erecting your statues will make them understand that we’re different.
"The karma and beliefs will be used for your evolution." Nathan paused for a moment before turning to Xolotl and the others. "At this point, I somehow think that becoming a god is a sketchy business."
Xolotl rolled his eyes. It could be interpreted that way. They helped people gain karma and faith. There might be gods doing it because of their selflessness, but there was no telling how many gods were doing it that way.
Their temples were erected for their sake. In a way, it benefited them more than the humans.
Garuda said, "The motive aside, it’s a mutual symbiotic relationship where everybody wins. If you help them solve their problems, they will give you their faith. So, it’s not necessarily bad."
"Well, I’m not saying it’s bad. I’m just saying it’s sketchy."
Garuda tilted his head as he couldn’t argue further.
Nathan chuckled. "In any case, we are done with the arrangement. I really need to focus on forming my second rule now. We probably have to go to Erendtall again in a few months. I can’t allow what happened to Sir Sullivan to happen again to Luna’s brother."
"In that case, you also need to improve your abilities." Xolotl raised a finger. "Now that I think about it, why don’t you do that thing... What’s it called? Divination? It’s not exactly divination, but more like peeking into the future. Can’t you do that with your elements?"
"I might be able to do that. No, it’s even better if I just take another look at the original Nathan’s skill repertoire. However, I don’t really want to rely on it too much. If I lose my independent thought, I may end up making the same mistake as the original Nathan."
"Fair point. That’s why you should combine it with your space element. In addition, you need to create your own technique."
Nathan looked down, contemplating.
"I’m not talking about a small ability. I’m talking about a technique that can be called your trump card. Maybe something that has a unique purpose or a unique method to utilize it." Xolotl suggested.
Tiamat nodded in agreement. "That is a good suggestion. What you don’t have right now is time, so we have to improvise. The others can lag behind to a certain extent, but your power is definitely needed to defeat this Yog-Sothoth. Azathoth is a different matter, but from what I can see, Yog-Sothoth might be the key to beating the black cell."
Garuda added, "They’re not wrong. Azathoth might be the most troublesome, but it didn’t make so much of a mess on the battlefield back then. Yog-Sothoth, on the other hand, was a much more annoying opponent."
Nathan nodded. "I will consider it for now. Maybe in a month, I will try to take another peek at the original Nathan’s abilities. If I take a peek now, just thinking about the names might give me inspiration, which ends up being influenced by the original Nathan’s thoughts.
"So, I will come up with a new technique first, then take a look at the abilities. During that time, I’d like to ask Xolotl to supervise everyone’s baptism. It will take some time, right?"
"Indeed. But with your help, it’s going to be quick."
"That’s good. Garuda, can you help the girls with their own matters? It’s true that some of them have true gods, such as Gaia, Chiyou, Nyx, and so on. However, it’s necessary to update them about our progress and method. This way, the true gods by their side can adjust their training methods accordingly."
"Got it." Garuda accepted the task.
Nathan then turned to Tiamat. "I’d like to ask you to train me, or more like fight against me. I usually make a new technique because I need that technique to fill a gap or do something I currently can’t do. So, if I know how helpless I am against you, I may be able to come up with a trick or two."
Tiamat understood Nathan’s talent. "There’s no problem with me training you personally. However, don’t expect me to go easy on you just because you are my summoner."
"I won’t complain even if you beat me half dead. Just don’t kill me. Anubis can’t resurrect me." Nathan chuckled.
"..." Anubis’ eyebrows twitched. "Hey, I might be able to do it if I become a true god."
