Chapter 1808: Outer Space
Chapter 1808: Outer Space
"Say, before leaving, can we do something first?" Sera asked.
"Do what?" The other girls looked confused.
"You know, I have always wanted to look at this planet from up there. I mean, from very far away to the point where I can look at it like a small ball on my palm. Besides, I’m quite curious about our solar system."
"Oh!" Some of them forgot about it. They became curious now that Sera had reminded them.
Nathan chuckled. "Sure. That’s fine. It will just be a few hours at most. We still have plenty of time, but we are leaving today."
"Yay!" Sera cheered.
All of them immediately flew into the sky and gradually ascended through the atmosphere.
They could feel the chilly atmosphere, but because of their speed, they could feel the friction. They might end up burning because of this, but thankfully, their power and divine body could endure everything.
Fortunately, all of them had their divine bodies, so they managed to withstand everything until they finally reached outer space.
In that instant, they felt the difference between living inside an atmosphere and living in outer space.
"Ah?!" Sera noticed that she couldn’t breathe as if she were underwater. But this wasn’t as simple as not having any air. Her body was freezing due to the extremely low temperature. In addition, they realized they could float without using their power.
If they actually came out before forging their divine body, they might be able to withstand the environment for a few minutes as long as they used all their power to resist it, but they would succumb to this environment sooner or later.
At the same time, she also noticed that she couldn’t speak. She reacted earlier, but no voice came out.
Nathan said, "Speak by using your ena as the medium. The air is the medium that usually carries our voices. There is nothing here, so you need to use your energy to speak."
Once Nathan told them the solution, they immediately spoke.
"Oh!"
"It’s true."
"This is weird and cool at the same time."
"I guess this is a perk."
"No wonder you need a divine body in outer space."
"Let’s go further! It’s still too big for me to see everything. But I can see that our world is not flat."
They looked at each other before flying away. The planet gradually shrank in size as their distance grew.
However, before they reached the expected distance, Nathan immediately activated a barrier.
Everyone was confused at first, but once they emerged from the curvature and became exposed to the sunlight directly, they could feel the immense heat from the sun.
"This... the heat..."
"So hot?!"
"So, the atmosphere really protected us."
"We would be cooked alive without the atmosphere."
Everything was so new to the girls, so they couldn’t help but be surprised by every little thing.
Nathan just smiled, watching them. Eventually, they reached enough distance to see the planet like a small ball.
However, they had a hard time seeing the full sphere.
"Hmm? It’s so dark. That side is so dark!"
"There is no light over there, so it’s dark."
"Wow!"
"It’s like a crescent-shaped world if I don’t see it harder."
"It’s so cool."
"No, it’s beautiful!"
This was the first time they saw the blue planet. The sea covered most of the surface. With the addition of land and clouds, it looked extremely beautiful.
A lot of them were mesmerized on the spot. Some actually looked around. "There should be some planets around us, right?"
"Look at that!"
They pointed to a big brown planet in the distance. "Is that our moon or another planet?"
"That must be a planet. Our moon should be over there. If you look at it from this angle, you can see a small object moving toward us. That small glowing thing must be the moon."
"Wow!"
"This is incredible."
"I’m going to that planet for a second!" Sera waved her hand before flying toward the planet, only to find out the true distance between them. "Wait!"
She suddenly turned back. "I didn’t feel like I was moving closer to that planet. How come?"
"It’s because of the distance. The distance between this planet and that planet should be like circling our planet many times. It’s not a distance that you can easily cover." Nathan shook his head helplessly.
"Really? Then, how are we supposed to go from one planet to another? I mean, without the teleportation ability. In fact, can you even do it, Evelyn?"
Evelyn thought for a moment. "I have converted a portion of my power into divinity. If I infuse my divinity into my teleportation ability... I can cover a portion of the distance. If I want to connect this planet with that one, I need to convert all my power into my divinity first. And that will take a lot of my power to do so."
"Then, then. Look around you. It’s so dark all around us."
"Indeed. There are glowing stars. There are planets that we can’t even see."
"There is one very far that way. It’s so dark that I almost missed it!"
They couldn’t contain their curiosity. They asked Nathan a lot, and Nathan happily answered them.
He already had this knowledge, so he knew a lot more than them. Still, Nathan was quite impressed by the sight as well. He was probably the first person on Earth to ever float in outer space without a special suit or inside a structure.
From what he could see, the solar system consisted of one sun and seven planets. He could see satellites hovering in a few planets, but there were only seven spheres big enough that he could easily consider them as a planet.
Of course, the darkness might have blurred his sense of distance, so if he approached the smaller spheres, some might be much bigger than he expected.
Nevertheless, he was already satisfied with the sight.
Nathan accompanied the girls for the next three hours before they returned to their world and headed to the portal.
