Chapter 2269: We just need... consistency.
"Well, good thing that it isn’t just Light that rules, no?"
Aeliana chuckled. Vyriana’s face turned solemn and—
"Are you expecting... the other Infinities to act?"
The Dragon asked directly and Aeliana—
"Not so quickly."
The vampire shook her head.
The women frowned.
Aeliana had a serious look on her face too.
"The other Infinities do not have any ’cause’ to make a move. Light has not stepped into their domain, in fact, it hasn’t made any statement after its initial statement.
So if any of the Infinities moved, this would be a direct declaration on Light with no solid grounds, and I do not believe any Infinity wants that, not right now."
"Since when do Infinities need a ’cause’ to act?"
Thyra questioned, confused.
Things like cause or a reason to wage war were... the thoughts of the weak.
Only the weak thought about what the people thought about them. Infinities, on the other hand, are the strongest; they wouldn’t care about such trivial matters. After all, if they do plan on waging war, no being in the Universe would be able to stop them.
People’s opinion simply did not matter.
But the problem here was different—
"As I said, this isn’t about the people.
The Four Infinities have been locked into this complicated deadlock against each other. A situation where every being balances out the other.
They are mostly equally strong; this is the reason that for trillions of years, no Infinity has ’won’ till now.
But right now, things are different.
The Universe is in chaos.
And Chaos... is always an opportunity."
Aeliana paused for a moment, then she glanced at Nux, who had been listening to them with interest all this while.
The Vampire then continued—
"To the Universe, the Anomaly might be a threat, a being who had killed trillions, a being they all want gone.
But to the Infinities—
He is an opportunity.
An opportunity to break this deadlock they are in. A variable none of them can calculate and while they all do wish to eliminate the Anomaly—
None of them wishes to do it right now.
This is also the reason why no Infinity is acting on its own, the reason why none of the Four Infinities appeared when Nux devoured the Sanctum Aurelios.
They want him to live, so he can keep creating these variables, to... shift something, anything.
And create an opportunity they can later use to benefit from."
"How do they even know they would benefit from it?"
Aisha questioned, curious.
"They do not."
This time, Amaya spoke up, shaking her head.
"They are just confident they will."
"In all this uncertainty?"
Aisha raised her eyebrow and the Devourer laughed.
"They are beings who have ruled the entire Universe since its beginning, you think they doubt themselves?"
"But they have no plan."
"They will eventually, or at least that’s what they think."
The Devourer answered and that was when Aeliana spoke again.
"They might even have a plan right now."
The rest of the women turned towards her and the Vampire continued slowly—
"The Anomaly is clearly targeting Light, our actions so far have made it very clear.
This battle isn’t the Infinities versus the Anomaly, at least not now, it’s Light versus Anomaly. So the other three Infinities simply won’t do anything.
They will let the two fight it out.
If Anomaly wins, they have one less Infinity to worry about and the Anomaly’s threat becomes real in their eyes.
If Light wins, then Anomaly was never a variable big enough to do anything in the first place.
In any of the two cases, the other Infinities do not lose anything."
"They lose an ally that could help them fight an external threat."
Vyriana narrowed her eyes.
Aeliana, however, just laughed.
"You overestimate yourself in their eyes if you think they actually see you or all of us together as a ’threat’.
At best, we are a ’slight inconvenience’ in their eyes."
And that was the truth.
The Infinities, no matter how much they acted like this was a serious situation, never once took Nux or the Anomaly seriously.
The only reason they even woke up was because they were... curious.
And they sensed an opportunity.
Their arrogance was simply too high to ever consider an unknown being a ’threat’.
"They are underestimating us."
Astaria spoke as she narrowed her eyes.
"They have all the right to."
Aeliana shrugged.
She did not expect the Lords of the Universe to take them seriously just because they had defeated a few Eternals.
Heck, even her father never once took Nux seriously until he realized the ridiculous amount of potential that he held.
The other Infinities did not have that information—
And honestly, even if they did, Aeliana—who had been with her father for the longest and had seen the man’s arrogance firsthand—could tell that if the Infinities had even half the arrogance her father had, they would not care.
That was just how it was—
Her Father, when he was an Infinity, had this aura of superiority that he could not hide, a confidence that he was at the level where he could solve any problem, no matter how big it was.
Heck, this was a man who was prepared to face all Four Infinities at the same time if it came to it.
And he never once thought he would lose.
Yes, that was an Infinity’s arrogance.
The sheer, almost blind confidence in their strength.
Beings like them would never take Nux seriously, not until...
Not until he kills one of them and makes them realize that they too could lose their life if they underestimated him.
And of course—
"It’s a good thing."
Aeliana commented.
"It gives us time and means to act however we please, without having to worry about the Infinities appearing out of nowhere and ruining our plans."
The Vampire spoke and that was when the Devourer looked at her.
"Do not be too careless.
These are Infinities.
We cannot predict what they might do.
Light’s actions weren’t something we predicted."
"So what are we supposed to do anyway?"
Edda asked directly, the long conversation making her head ache. There were... just too many unpredictable elements, as if something was building behind the scenes, and she had no clue what it was.
"We wanted the other Infinities to act against Light, did we not?"
Edda asked.
"Light is consolidating power, the amount of control they have right now is... too strong.
But while the control is stronger, their dominance has... become unbearable too.
The worlds under their rule are... suffocating.
This is a great opportunity for other Infinities to poach the worlds under Light, worlds that must be hiding their silent resentment after having to show their memories to Light regularly.
This can never be a permanent thing. If the other Supreme Factions use this moment, the Light would instantly lose a significant amount of strength, no?
Then why aren’t they doing anything?
Isn’t it a perfect opportunity?"
"They must be waiting for us to do something."
Felberta answered.
"As Aeliana said, this must be a test. To see what the Anomaly is capable of and how much he can hurt Light without them moving.
They must be planning to use us as thoroughly as they can."
"So are we going to be used?"
Edda questioned, squinting her eyes because she did not like it at all, and Felberta—she directly turned towards Nux for a clear answer.
Edda and others did the same too and Nux...
He remained silent for a while, almost as if weighing all his options, then he nodded—
"We will.
They can use me as much as they want."
"So you will... keep attacking Light?"
Lyriana questioned. Just like the other women, she did not like the idea of being treated like test subjects by the Infinities.
But Nux—
"Yes."
He nodded.
"How would you even do that?"
Felberta asked with a frown.
This wasn’t about attacking a world or devouring it. At the level Nux had reached right now, defeating even Eternal Level beings had become... a matter of child’s play to him.
Just his physical body alone had reached a level where almost no Eternal could harm him, and yes, while their Domain does allow them to be absolute—letting them do whatever they please to any being inside their Domain, something that would have limited Nux’s options and made Eternals a threat before—
Now, it was different.
Now, Nux had... his own domain.
A domain so strong that no domain, no matter how ’absolute’, could affect him.
After all, how was a mere domain supposed to rule over an entirely separate, complete, and living Universe?
That made no sense.
And without their Domains, Eternals, in front of Nux, were like helpless flies—flies that weren’t even fast.
So yes, devouring a world, even a High Level World ruled by one or multiple Eternals, wasn’t difficult. But devouring wasn’t the only way they would ’attack’ Light.
The most important thing was...
Sending a message to the entire Universe.
A message they could no longer send since all their ’Agents’ are either being kept in a fancy prison or are dead.
Nux knew that as well, so he—
"We no longer need a network.
We just need... consistency."
He spoke with the same calm smile as always.
As if everything was under his complete control.
