Chapter 2308 Get Ready for the Gathering.
Chapter 2308 Get Ready for the Gathering.
"The place is about to collapse."
Oraya spoke directly.
Ragnar, however, just shrugged and placed his sword over his shoulder.
"Let it collapse.
I'll take responsibility."
He spoke confidently.
"I'm telling your mother."
Oraya looked at Ragnar without a change in his expression and the boy just shrugged.
"Go ahead."
There was not a trace of fear in his eyes, he looked like he was almost looking forward to it. Oraya stared at him in silence for a good while, then, as if he thought of something—
"Her punishment of sparring against you with a sword is no longer a punishment."
He spoke.
"…What?"
Ragnar blinked in surprise.
"She needs to change her methods."
Oraya commented and for the first time, a crack appeared in Ragnar's grin. He stared at Oraya, as if he was scared that he really would go talk to his mother about this, but then he remembered his mother and scoffed.
"Good luck."
He spoke with a grin.
He couldn't even imagine his mother not sparring with him, and that too, over some ground that collapsed after their fight. If anything, she would be proud that he was getting stronger and spar with him again.
Ragnar then nodded on his own and turned towards the other two—
"You two want to fight or not?"
He asked.
Zyrax grinned immediately. Drakar looked at him, then at the broken ground beneath them, then at Zyrax.
The three boys looked at each other and no more words were needed, their eyes had already made the decision.
Whoosh
They moved.
BOOOOOOM
Zyrax struck from above, his scales wrapped around his arm. Drakar stepped in and answered with an upward blow from below. The collision burst open the deep crack under them and split it wider.
That was the first exchange.
Drakar then drove forward with both his fists, Zyrax crossed his arms, took the complete impact, and slid backward through the stone, carving two trenches with his heels.
That was the second exchange.
Zyrax kicked low, breaking Drakar's stance, then slammed his elbow down. Drakar caught it on his shoulder scales and blasted aura outward, throwing them both apart.
BOOOOOOM
That was… the third exchange.
The ground beneath them was now barely holding on, but the two boys did not stop, Ragnar watched with great interest, he wanted to join too, but he could see both of them were exhausted and fighting an exhausted enemy wasn't fun.
The two launched at each other again, not giving up. The ground beneath them now screamed, if they collided, the entire area, in the condition it was in, would fall apart.
Oraya could see that, his eyes analyzed everything as he positioned himself in a way that even if the ground collapsed, he wouldn't get affected by it at all.
Yes, his mind had already calculated how everything would play out, what part of the ground would be damaged the most, how much debris would fly around after the explosion and in what area he would not be hit by the debris.
He was prepared to watch it all play out, he also did not stop this because he was curious if his prediction would be correct, it was like a real-time practice for him, so he was, at some level, looking forward to it.
But—
The moment Drakar and Zyrax were about to reach each other and end the battle—
The temperature in the area dropped.
And it didn't happen slowly, it happened all at once. The heat that the two Dragons had produced from their auras instantly dissipated and the very air went still. Every drifting piece of dust paused, the cracks that had formed on the ground stopped spreading and a layer of chilling frost ran soundlessly all over the ground, sealing everything in… complete stillness.
Both Drakar and Zyrax stopped the moment they noticed the change, Drakar lowered his fist with a frown, Zyrax, on the other hand, turned around with an irritated look on his face.
"Frostra! Why are you here!? What is your problem!?"
He called out before even looking at who it was. He didn't have to, he could only think of one name that could possibly be behind this.
And the moment he turned around, his suspicions were proven correct.
Behind him, at the edge of the battlefield, stood a girl. She had long silver hair flowing gently behind her, her pointed elven ears were visible through her hair, giving her a delicate and elegant look. Her silver-blue eyes remained calm and steady.
She wore a soft, beautiful pale blue dress. The fabric moved gently with the wind, yet it stayed perfectly clean, untouched by the destruction around her.
The little elf stepped forward with a light, confident smile on her face, the entire area around her was already covered with frost, she then looked at Zyrax who had screamed at her, then the other boys and—
"Enough,"
She spoke in a low voice, but there was a sense of certainty in her tone that made it difficult for the boys to ignore her.
"You always do this."
Zyrax complained as he scrunched his nose.
"You always make me do it.
Know when to stop."
Frostra answered with a calm look on her face.
"Alright, alright."
Finally, Ragnar jumped in, waving his hand. He then glanced at Zyrax and—
"You two were exhausted anyways, let it go."
"I wasn't exhausted."
Zyrax answered quickly and Ragnar waved his hand again.
"Just let it be. You know she won't let you fight."
The sword boy then looked at the frozen ground—
"Plus, it's not fun to fight on slippery ground."
"I can melt it away."
Drakar suggested and before anyone could say anything—
"I will freeze it again."
Frostra shrugged.
"Why are you even doing this?"
Zyrax asked directly, Frostra didn't usually bother herself with their battles, she actually participated in them. This was also the reason he was close to her in the first place. Frostra, on the other hand, tilted her head and—
"You forgot, didn't you?"
"Forgot what?"
And the moment he said it, Oraya just sighed.
It was just as he expected, these three fools forgot.
"We have a family meeting today. That's why everyone came back, even those who were training in other worlds."
He informed and the instant he did, Ragnar's expression changed.
"Right!! Something happened outside!"
He exclaimed.
'Outside' he mentioned was the Main Universe, the Universe every person in their Universe talked about, the place where everyone, even the children's mother and father, came from. It was a place even the children had visited a few times, of course, every time they did, their father went with them.
It was a place their father was extremely careful about, an oddity compared to his usual behavior where he let them go wherever they wanted.
The children had asked their mothers about it, quite a few times now, and the only answer they got was that 'outside' was a dangerous place. Of course, that answer only made a few children, especially the five here, more excited, they had even thought about sneaking into that place before—
But other than their father and mothers, no being knew how to go there, even the warriors that usually did visit those worlds from time to time, did not actually know how to go there, they were only sent there according to their father or mothers' wishes.
"What happened there exactly?"
Zyrax asked.
Before coming to Drakar, he had gone to his mother, he wanted to go to another world to train and strengthen himself but she denied it, saying they needed to be here for today's meeting.
And if his mother was saying no to training, then whatever it was that was happening outside, it was important.
"We don't know. Father didn't say anything."
Oraya shook his head.
"He's being… secretive."
"Secretive?"
Zyrax blinked.
"Father?"
He couldn't believe it, their father was usually very indulgent, he couldn't recall the last time his father said no to him, this was also the reason his mother went after father a few times in anger, saying how he was 'spoiling' his children.
"What did Mira say?"
He asked curiously. Zyrax already knew Oraya must have sent Mira to their father, after all, their father was especially weak to her. Even if there were times when he actually said no, the moment they sent Mira, they got what they wanted.
Their father had never once said no to Mira but…
"He didn't say anything to her either."
Oraya shook his head.
"He said no to Mira?"
Frostra asked, this time, even she looked surprised.
"Well… he didn't say no…"
Oraya shook his head after some hesitation.
"He just… changed the topic and Mira then forgot about it.
She returned with a candy."
He revealed and the four who heard his words just… sighed in defeat.
"What was I even expecting?"
Drakar facepalmed, the others nodded.
Oraya shrugged too.
Frostra, on the other hand, was a little easygoing.
"It's not all her fault, Father is like… Azarion. Or more accurately, Azarion is like Father, most people can't get what they want from Azarion, let alone Father.
If there is something he doesn't wish to tell, Mira won't be able to get it out of him.
You all won't either."
Oraya nodded as well.
"It doesn't matter."
He shrugged.
"If it is something we should know, he will tell us.
Stop thinking about it and get ready for the gathering."
