Chapter 685: Is it really that obvious?
Chapter 685: Is it really that obvious?
“How long have you been here?” asked Cristina, following Essora as she showed her around the Kingdom.
“If I’m not mistaken, it was from the very beginning, when the King and Queen claimed this place as their personal territory,” Essora replied after thinking for a while.
“The King and Queen?”
“This place was given the name ‘Kingdom,’ and therefore the Lady and Lord assumed the titles of King and Queen,” explained Essora. “I like their idea, and I fully support them.”
“Actually, it hasn’t been that long since they got this place, but the Kingdom has changed a lot in that time, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it will turn into in the future,” she added.
The kingdom became a second home for Essora and her younger brother. She was very grateful to Idan and Arabel for not only saving her younger brother from Erza’s clutches, but also herself.
She was willing to do anything to save her brother, but she didn’t expect it to end like this.
Being here, Essora wasn’t worried about her younger brother’s safety. Her only concern was that Sora had recently become very attached to Milla and was constantly following her. This caused her some anxiety.
Milla herself recently joined a group of Beast Tamers, formed her first Beast Soul, and even signed a contract with one of the local wolf beasts captured by Idan.
Surprisingly, after the phenomenon caused by Sierra, the wolf Milla had contracted awakened a kinship with the element of darkness. This was one of the few pleasant surprises for everyone.
Remembering the past, Essora also drew attention to the sphere that she always hugged and carried with her.
Her connection to the sphere and constant contact with it were slowly but surely purging her tainted Chromomarian bloodline.
“This sphere in your hands is an artifact, isn’t it?” asked Cristina, interrupting Essora’s reverie, seeing how she was looking at this sphere.
Essora turned and looked at Cristina.
“What?” asked Cristina, noticing Essora’s slightly wary look.
“You know, I’m a real artifact master! I can fix, improve, copy, and even create them,” Cristina said proudly, addressing Essora.
“The artifact Master?” asked Essora, looking at Cristina with renewed interest. Standing in front of her was an ordinary young girl, and it was hard for her to imagine that she could be that master artifact maker. However, Cristina’s confident and proud appearance indicated that she was not lying.
“Yes, I really am a master, and the best of the best,” Cristina continued, enjoying Essora’s attention.
“To be honest, I’ve already tried to recreate this Sphere that you’re holding in your hands,” she confessed, drawing even more of Essora’s attention.
“The one you called the King asked me to create an exact copy and version without reference to your unique bloodline,” Essora continued.
“Really? Did the King make such a request to you?” asked Essora.
“Yes, it’s true,” Cristina replied. “If you don’t believe me, let’s find your King and ask him if I’m telling the truth.”
“No, you don’t need to,” Essora shook her head.
She knew that Idan and Arabel were busy preparing for the upcoming wedding, and she didn’t want to distract them.
“I believe in you,” Essora said after some silence. Her bloodline was unique, and Idan himself had told her to keep it a secret. But if he shared this information with this girl, it means that he trusts her, which means that she can trust this girl.
“So you know about my bloodline, don’t you? Is that why you appeared in front of me so unexpectedly?” Essora was smart and, comparing her meeting with Cristina and how she behaved strangely while they were walking together, she was sure that Cristina knew about her background.
“Hehe, I got caught,” Cristina replied with a smile, without denying it.
“When your King asked me, of course, I studied the information and characteristics of the Sphere. After that, I came to the conclusion that I could create a simplified version. But to create an exact replica, I need the blood essence of a bloodline with an affinity for the element of time to recreate the unique time manipulation ability.”
“But as you know, creatures with an affinity for the element of time, and even based on the bloodline itself, are very rare. That’s why I’m very interested in you.” Cristina’s eyes were burning as she looked at Essora as if she were some kind of precious resource.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, this is my bad habit,” Cristina said, realizing that she had scared Essora with her strange look.
“When asked to provide your blood essence in exchange for free copies of the Sphere, your King only vaguely replied that he would think about it. After that, he didn’t address me anymore,” Cristina said with slight annoyance.
These words made Essora think.
“The King probably wanted to ask me myself in the future when my bloodline is a little purified and restored. However, considering that they’ve both been very busy lately, there’s a chance he just forgot about it,” she mused.
While she was thinking, Cristina suddenly took her hands and pulled her aside.
Then she started looking around again, as if trying to hide from someone.
“Who are you hiding from?” Essora finally asked.
“Is it really that obvious?” — Cristina was surprised, sincerely believing that she was not doing it so noticeably.
Essora nodded, further surprising Cristina, who almost lost her glasses.
“There’s a creepy guy who walks around and around, never ceasing to stare at every living soul he sees.” Cristina had to reveal who she was hiding from. No, if it’s more accurate, who is she hiding Essora from.
“This creepy guy likes to collect bloodlines, and rare and unique ones like your bloodline are a real treasure for him, a pearl that he won’t be able to ignore.” Cristina’s voice became serious, which made Essora take her information more seriously.
“If he finds you, then until he gets even a drop of your blood essence from you, he’s unlikely to leave you alone.”
“I’m not hiding from him, I’m hiding you from him,” Cristina confessed in the end.
Essora, hearing the confession, almost dropped the sphere.
“Huh? What? What did she just say? Is she hiding me? That creepy guy who collects bloodlines?” she wondered, slightly scared.
Essora wasn’t the only one with Chromomarian blood in her veins. She had a younger brother, Sora.
“What if this creepy guy finds him?” she asked herself, and the more she thought about it, the more worried she became.
“Don’t worry, even if he finds you, he won’t hurt you, because you’re under “it” protection?” said Kritina with a smile, trying to calm Essora down, noticing how she was starting to panic a lot.
“It?” asked Essora, puzzled.
“Yes, that’s him,” Cristina confirmed, and suddenly exclaimed, “Damn, he saw us!”
Essora shuddered and, turning in the direction where Cristina was pointing, saw a young man in a white coat staring at her with a creepy smile on his face.
Not only Essora, but also Cristina were scared. Compared to the Hosts of other Supreme Systems, she was still very young and did not have as much life experience as these “oldies”.
“Come on, come on, what have we got here?” he said, crossing the distance for a moment and appearing in front of Essora. He studied her carefully from head to toe.
As he studied her, his mood changed rapidly.
At first he was puzzled, then perplexed, and then angry.
“What the hell? Who dares to do this to such a pearl?” he exclaimed when he saw Essora’s desecrated bloodline.
“And what are these two fools doing?” he added, swearing at Idan and Arabel. “How could they hide such a value from me and not even try to help her restore her bloodline?”
The more he talked, the angrier he got.
Essora wanted to object.
After all, Idan and Arabel had saved her and her brother and even returned the family artifact, which was already slowly but surely restoring her bloodline. And scolding them for not doing anything was wrong in her mind.
Before she could say anything, Christina intervened.
“Hey, hey, old man, don’t shout like that, have you forgotten where you are?”
“Old man?” the eyebrows of the Host of the “Supreme Bloodline System” rose, and he finally paid attention to Cristina. He recognized her, of course.
“Stop scaring my friend,” Essora added, gathering her courage and standing up for her.
“A friend?” The creepy guy was surprised when he saw Cristina standing in front of Essora with her arms crossed.
“Yes, this is my friend I met here,” she confirmed.
“Ho, is that it?
The creepy guy grinned, quickly realizing Cristina’s intentions. Knowing whose Host she was, it would be easy for an old monster like him to guess this little girl’s goals.
“Let’s make a deal. You’ll need my service anyway if you want to get this girl’s blood essence for your fakes,” not wanting to argue, the creepy guy got straight to the point.
Cristina, of course, liked it, and she began to bargain with him.
And just as they were engrossed in this, Idan appeared, interrupting them.
