Chapter 776 - 777: The meeting of the Mortal, the Awakened and the System.

"She's a restaurant critic, so she knows a lot about delicious food," Arabel remarked, watching Beatrice devour her dish with tears in her eyes.

Darkia nodded, agreeing with that statement.

"The food prepared by this girl is really excellent," she said.

"Okay, tell me, what did you, that is, what did the Eye of the Web find out about her?" Arabel asked, taking a small piece from the dish still untouched by Darkia.

"If you want to eat, order for yourself, don't touch mine," Darkia didn't remain silent this time.

"It's just a small piece, don't be greedy," Arabel replied, glancing at the remaining untouched dishes.

"You won't starve to death over this piece," — Arabel added, popping a piece into her mouth.

"Mmm... delicious," she said, and was about to take more, but stopped when she felt the fluctuations of Darkia's Soul Force.

Arabel's eyes had not fully recovered yet, and she had been using her Soul Force to observe her surroundings all this time.

"Okay, okay," — Arabel put her fork on the table.

Only after making sure that Arabel wasn't claiming her dishes did Darkia continue to enjoy her meal.

"Beatrice Weiss was a famous restaurant critic before the disaster, and her opinion was respected all over the world..."— slowly eating, Darkia shared with Arabel the information that the Eye of the Network had obtained for her. She did not forget to mention that Beatrice is a gourmet.

Arabel, after listening to the information about Beatrice, thought for a while, got up from her seat and went to the table where Beatrice was sitting, leaving Darkia to enjoy her dishes.

Arabel went to Beatrice's table and noticed that she was engrossed in her meal and did not notice her, so she sat down opposite.

Only then did Beatrice notice her.

"Hmm..." she frowned slightly, unhappy that she was prevented from enjoying her meal.

Beatrice looked at Arabel carefully, but apart from the fact that she had her eyes closed, she did not find anything unusual about her.

"Beatrice," Arabel called first.

"Yes, it's really delicious, and I've never tasted anything like it before," Beatrice agreed, her frowning face lit up with joy when it came to food.

But then she frowned again and looked at Arabel.

"Who are you?" she asked.

"Someone who likes not only to eat well, but also to cook," Arabel replied.

"Oh! Really? Are you a cook or a former critic?" asked Beatrice, not dwelling on how this woman recognized her. At one time, she was famous in the culinary world, and even now, some people still remembered her.

"Hmm... come to think of it, I'm neither one thing nor the other. More precisely, I'm just a wife who likes to feed her husband deliciously," Arabel said enthusiastically, sharing one of her wishes.

"Haha, are you married?" said Beatrice with a touch of envy when Arabel started talking about a topic that had recently become especially relevant to Beatrice. "It seems your husband is very lucky to have you."

"Haha, to be honest, I was lucky to meet him," Arabel confessed. "And you? Do you have a husband?"

"Who, me? No, I haven't been so lucky yet," Beatrice shook her head with slight regret.

But how could she, being an ordinary woman in the prime of her life, not dream of a man who could protect her and give her a sense of security at such a dangerous time?

Apart from finding delicious food, this was one of the main issues that bothered Beatrice. And so far, things haven't been going well.

She had secret dreams of finding a young man from among the awakened ones. However, she was regretfully aware that all these so—called awakened ones were young people who were barely 20 years old. And she was already over thirty.

Arabel, having touched upon two key issues that worried Beatrice, began a casual conversation.

From time to time, Beatrice was distracted by the food, while sharing her assessments of the dishes with Arabel, succumbing to her professional nature.

During the conversation, Arabel assessed Beatrice's character and came to the conclusion that she was quite a pleasant person, especially when it comes to food.

"So, Beatrice, what are you going to do next?" — Arabel suddenly asked during the conversation.

"Eh? What am I going to do? Beatrice didn't immediately understand what Arabel meant.

"Well, you found what you were looking for, and the one you were looking for. What do you plan to do next? Are you reporting this to the Royce family, or will you try to recruit Sofia yourself?"

The smile disappeared from Beatrice's face, and her gaze became serious.

"You still haven't told me who you are or why you're interested in my business?"

"Knowing who I am won't help you, but on the contrary, it can lead to trouble," Arabel replied. "I want to be honest: I was the first to discover Sofia, and I intend to recruit her."

Beatrice slowly lowered her hands under the table, watching Arabel, who had kept her eyes closed the entire time, confident that she would not be noticed.

"It's useless," an emotionless voice suddenly sounded next to them. Beatrice jumped violently in fright and saw a girl with black hair and black glasses who had appeared unnoticed next to their table.

"I'm saying that trying to contact anyone, especially the Royce family, is futile," Darkia said.

"May I join your conversation?" she asked Arabel.

"You've already joined," Arabel replied, shifting slightly to make room for Darkia.

Looking at Arabel and Darkia sitting across from her, Beatrice couldn't help but notice that they looked a bit alike. Especially considering that Arabel still kept her eyes closed and Darkia was wearing sunglasses.

"So what were you talking about?" asked Darkia.

"I said that I was the first to discover Sofia and intend to recruit her," Arabel replied.

"Oh, that's it. Well, then I'm second."

"If the girl refuses your offer, regardless of her wishes, I will take her in," Darkia announced.

Beatrice didn't know who the two were. She looked around and found that the other customers were completely oblivious to their table. It seemed that something was preventing them from not only seeing but also hearing what they were talking about.

This discovery couldn't help but frighten her.

"As far as I know, ordinary people are not capable of such tricks. Only the Awakened and beings from other worlds, who have been talked about a lot on the network lately, are capable of this," — Beatrice thought, turning pale.
