Chapter 559 -
Chapter 559: Chapter
"Whoosh!"
Wind tore past their ears as two shadows darted through the garden paths—swift, soundless, almost invisible. Neither of them used a trace of soul power, yet their speed was staggering.
"Slow down! You—slow down, damn it!" Hera gasped between ragged breaths, her golden hair flying wildly behind her. Her long, snow-pale legs strained to keep up with Nux’s maddening pace.
This man’s rhythm was insane—his steps, his stamina, his sheer physical control. Is he even human? Hera thought, her lungs burning. Her current body strength simply couldn’t bear the pace.
Finally, Nux stopped.
They had reached a small secluded garden tucked between marble corridors, where the air was perfumed with blooming spirit-lilies and the ground was neatly paved with blue stone slabs. Sunlight filtered through the canopy, breaking into scattered patches of gold.

Turning back, Nux smirked as he watched Hera stumble to a halt, her body glistening with sweat, her chest rising and falling fast.
"Hey," he teased lightly, his golden eyes glinting. "You’re exaggerating too much. It’s just two steps away."
"Two—steps—?" Hera bent forward, her hands on her knees, gasping. Her golden eyes widened in disbelief. "You bastard, do you even realize how fast you were going?!"
Nux shrugged, his tone maddeningly casual. "That’s just my normal speed."
"Normal?" Hera’s crimson lips twitched. "You call that normal? I almost took off into the sky behind you!"
Her glare was half-anger, half-awe. Nux coughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck. "Maybe it’s because I just awakened my War Soul. My body... might’ve improved a bit."
Hera straightened, still panting, and gave him a look like she was observing some rare, dangerous creature. "A bit? You call this a bit? I think that’s more than just improvement—it’s monstrous."
Then, curiosity flickered in her eyes. She took a step closer, gaze scanning him up and down. Before Nux could react, her delicate fingers brushed against his arm, then his chest, as if testing what kind of body could move like that.
"What are you doing?!" Nux flinched back instantly, stepping away from her touch. "Stop groping me like I’m a rare beast."
"I am checking," Hera shot back, face slightly pink, but her curiosity unrelenting. "You’ve got to tell me what kind of magical beast you were before. Your War Soul awakening is beyond ridiculous. Twin War Souls too? You’re terrifying!"
"Go, go, stop it." Nux pushed her away, wearing a mock look of disgust. "Your hands are getting too adventurous."
Realizing how inappropriate her actions looked, Hera froze, her cheeks flushing red. She quickly lowered her head and began tracing circles on the blue stone with her toe. The sunlight danced over her golden hair, turning her into something ethereal—almost too beautiful to look at.
"That..." she muttered softly, barely audible.
"That what?" Nux tilted his head, amused.
Hera tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, revealing the faintest blush on her neck. Her golden eyes flicked up to meet his. "Could you... maybe show me your War Soul? Just once?"
"Why?" His brows lifted.
"I’m just... curious," she admitted, trying to sound calm but failing miserably.
Nux crossed his arms, leaning slightly toward her. "Hey, dear Hera, did you forget something?"
Her wide, innocent eyes blinked up at him. "Forget what?"
Nux grinned. "Don’t play dumb. If you really forgot, then why are you blushing?"
Her eyes widened in horror. Her hands flew to her cheeks as she spun around, facing away from him. Oh no. It’s over. He remembers...
Nux chuckled softly. "Ahem, as I recall, a certain little girl made a bet with me. Now what was that bet again?" He stepped closer, voice low and teasing. "I even told you not to gamble... but you just wouldn’t listen."
"Ugh, stop it! You’re so—so disgusting!" Hera’s voice cracked with embarrassment, her golden hair fluttering as she shook her head. "Don’t talk about it!"
Nux sighed dramatically. "Forget it. I wasn’t even taking it seriously. It was just a joke."
That stopped her. Hera turned slowly, parting her fingers to peek at him through them. His expression wasn’t mocking—he looked genuinely disappointed, almost... hurt.
Her chest tightened. "A joke?" she muttered. "I, Hera, Saint of the Soulforge Citadel, never go back on my word. I keep my promises!"
Nux arched a brow. "You don’t really mean you’ll... bark, right?"
Her face turned scarlet. "Screw it! I’m willing to admit defeat. What’s the big deal?" She lifted her chin defiantly, though her eyes darted nervously.
"Then... come on." His golden eyes gleamed with mischief.
"I..." Hera swallowed hard, her graceful neck turning crimson. "I’ll call you. Do you even dare to answer?"
"It’s hard to refuse someone’s kindness," Nux said smoothly, the corner of his lips lifting. "Wouldn’t be polite not to respond."
"You—ugh, you’re so bad!" she huffed, stamping her foot, half flustered, half furious.
"Don’t blame me. I didn’t force anything." His grin widened. "You made the bet, remember?"
"Who knew you’d turn out to be such a weirdo!" she muttered under her breath, glaring at him from under her lashes.
"Alright then, hurry up. I’m waiting." He crossed his arms with exaggerated patience. "If you don’t call me soon, I might just leave."
Her lips trembled. Her face looked like it was about to catch fire. Finally, she clenched her fists and shouted, her voice soft but clear, echoing through the tranquil garden:
"C-call! I... I can’t do it!"
The sound carried farther than she intended. Just her luck—two men happened to be walking nearby, both familiar faces from the Soulforge Citadel... and both happened to be close to Hera.
They froze mid-step. Their eyes went wide.
And Hera?
She wished the earth would open up right then and swallow her whole.
