An Abundance of Wealth [Part-2]
Leon chuckled to himself. It was a laugh but it was nice to see him like that. Leon did not usually show people that side of himself.
"Very well."
He turned around to face the door of the treasury. The snakes that were cut into the stone were giving off a bit of light that was getting weaker. It was like they could see him and they knew who he was and they were okay, with him being there. The sun was setting outside. It was making the long hallway look all golden and dark which made everything look a little strange and not quite real.
He asked if he can go in now. He did this without turning around to see what is, behind him. The man said "I can enter now yes?"
The guards fell into bows at the same time. Their armor made a sound as they moved. The guards said the thing, at the same time and they sounded very sure of themselves. They were being very respectful the guards were.
"Yes I will do what you say. We will stay here and keep watch at this place the watch that we are supposed to be doing the watch that is our job and we will make sure that everything is okay."
Leon gave a nod it was so small you could hardly see it and then he stepped forward. His boots did not feel like they were touching the floor. The moment was very heavy it felt like the air before a storm the kind of storm that makes the skin, on your arms feel funny before you even hear the thunder.
He reached out slowly and carefully letting his fingers touch the stone. The stone made a humming noise right away. It was a noise that he could feel under his hand. The stone felt alive. That was really strange. It was not a noise that he heard. The stone knew he was there. It was, like something old was hidden under the stone for a very long time. Now it was starting to wake up. The old thing was. Making a low noise like it was stretching after a long sleep. The stone was responding to him like it knew he was touching it.
The serpents parted.
Stone scraped against stone. The door creaked open it was really slow and really heavy. The old hinges made a lot of noise like they were complaining. This noise went all the way down the hallway. Then a bunch of air came out like the air had been locked up for a long time. It touched Leons clothes and his hair it felt like something, from a time ago was touching him. The air was full of dust. It smelled like old metal and really old things that people had forgotten about. Leon breathed this air in. For a second everything just stopped. The stone door and the old hallway and everything just seemed to freeze. The noise and the air and Leon everything just paused for a moment like time itself had stopped moving.
The man stepped inside the room. He took a step into the room. Then he stopped. The room was quiet. The man stood there for a moment. He was now inside.
The moment his foot stepped inside the house -
The world really shifted.
He stopped breathing for a second. His eyes got really big. He looked totally surprised. All a sudden he was not in control of himself anymore. The only thing you could see on his face was that he was really shocked. His shock was easy to see because he was not hiding it all. The Football Players eyes were fixed on something. He could not look away. The Football Players face showed that he was, in a state of shock.
The golden glow hit him first. It was like a wave of light that came at him. The golden glow was so strong that it made everything else look dark. When the golden glow hit him he felt something. The golden glow was, around him now.
The room was filled with treasure. It was like a big wave crashing over him. The gold coins were everywhere. They made his eyes shine like the sun. His golden eyes were really bright. They looked like they were on fire. The light from the coins was bouncing over the place hitting the metal and jumping onto his skin. It was like the light was playing on his face making all the dark parts go away. The treasure was making him feel warm and cozy like it was giving him a hug. The warmth was on his face. It felt nice like the treasure was happy to see him. The gold was around him and it was, like a big sea of yellow, shining and sparkling everywhere.
"Wh—"
The word broke apart in his throat. He tried to say it. The word just broke apart in his throat again. The word really broke apart in his throat. It was very hard for him to speak.
The man let out a breath of air. He did this quickly.
"...fuck."
The treasury was really big. It was much bigger, than the room the king was going to use. About five times bigger. This huge room was filled with much wealth that it would make even the king who loves money the most feel small. The treasury was enormous.
He just stood there for a moment his shoulders were really tight like the size of the thing was holding him back. The air had a smell that was a bit like old metal and also like stone that someone had polished it was a rich smell but it was also cold. His eyes were trying to see everything but they could not do it the heartbeat was still going on the scale of it was too much for his eyes to take in the old metal and polished stone smell was all, around him and the heartbeat was still there.
The room was filled with piles of gold coins that looked like big hills of sand. These piles of coins were so high that they almost touched the ceiling. The gold coins were all colors, like really bright gold, a little lighter gold and an old gold color. The whole room looked like it was filled with sunshine that had been turned into metal. There were some crystals hanging from the ceiling that you could not see. They made the coins sparkle and shine sending soft circles of light all over the walls and his face. The gold coins looked really amazing. He was very surprised. The mountains of gold coins were still towering around the room.
He took a step forward. The faint clink, beneath his boot was really loud it was like he had just messed with something that was supposed to be left alone.
And that was only the start.
Jewels were over the place like stars that had fallen from the sky. There were rubies, as big as a kids fist and sapphires that were cut to look like tears. The emeralds looked like they had light from the forest inside them. Some of the jewels were put in boxes. Others were just thrown into bowls made of crystal. A few jewels were just lying around like they had been tossed aside without a care. The jewels were so precious. Here they seemed like nothing more than small rocks. Jewels, like these rubies and emeralds and sapphires were treated like they were not that important.
Necklaces of Griffin bone pearls.
Bracelets threaded with phoenix feathers sealed in glass.
Crowns from forgotten kingdoms stacked casually atop crates.
And deeper—
Ancient statues stood in rows, like guardians. They were really quiet and still. The statues were made of obsidian and they were carved into the shapes of mythical beasts and warriors and gods. There was a statue of a naga at the far end. It was coiled around an altar. The naga statue had jeweled eyes that looked like they were shining really bright like the naga statue had just awakened from a sleep. The naga statue and the other statues were really cool.
Time had really made them look special they were, like something that’s almost alive. The dark surfaces of them were catching the light and it looked like they were taking it in.
The room was filled with things that had magic in them. There were books, special rings and stones with weird symbols on them. These things seemed to be giving off a bit of magic. The air in the room felt strange. It was like the room was beating with an quiet energy. This energy made Leon feel funny. It made the hairs on his skin stand up and his teeth feel like they were squeezed together. The room seemed to know that Leon was there. The magic things in the room like the books and the special rings and the stones, with weird symbols all seemed to be watching him.
The weapons were shown with a lot of respect. There were swords, spears, sabers, bows and gauntlets. Each one was placed on a stone pillar. Had a plaque under it. The blades still looked really sharp even though they had been left alone for a long time. They were so sharp that they caught the light and sent it back like a flame. Some of the weapons looked like they were for special occasions. The weapons, like swords and spears looked like they were waiting to be used. The swords and spears and other weapons seemed to have a lot of history behind them.
Leons breath was shaking badly. His chest felt very tight like he had walked into a place that ordinary men like Leon were not supposed to be in. Leon felt like this place was not, for him.
"Holy fuck " he whispered, his voice was really low it was like he was in a church or something. He let out a laugh he could not believe his eyes. "This is like all the money and jewels from a kingdom and it is all, in this one room."
He took another step. The coins moved a little under his boot. This made a sound, like metal touching metal. The sound was loud. It went all the way through the vault. It was like when you throw a stone into a lake and the water moves out in circles. The sound of the coins did the thing it just kept going through the vault.
He turned around slowly taking in everything he could see. He was scared that if he moved quickly the whole thing might just disappear. The man did not want the vision of the scene to break apart so he kept moving looking at the vision.
There are a lot of silver coins stacked up high. The silver coins are piled all the way up.
Bronze piles near the back.
Barrels of rare materials—mithril, obsidian glass, dark steel ingots.
Enough wealth to buy cities. Enough power to start wars.
The man said "this is a crazy place" as he shook his head. A funny smile started to come out on his face. You could see that he was amazed and also a little scared. His eyes showed that he thought this whole thing was too much. "This is insane" he said again talking about the damn holy realm.
His mind was over the place thinking about a million things at the same time. All the plans, the dangers and the different ways things could turn out. It was like looking into a mirror with a dozen different reflections staring back at him. His heart started beating and it was not just because he was excited, about all the treasure. The treasure was a deal and it meant a lot of things which is why his heart was racing. The thought of the treasure hoard was what was really getting to him. He could not stop thinking about it.
If one kingdom had this thing it would be really cool. The kingdom would have something that other kingdoms do not have. This thing would make the kingdom special. The kingdom, with this thing would be the kingdom.
I wonder how money the others were able to save. Did the others put away a lot of money? The others must have stored away some amount of money.
And the empires...?
"Damn it..." he whispered. "Do they really have much money that they could buy entire continents?"
The greed that he felt was really strong. It was like his body knew when he saw something and it told him to take it. He wanted it all. He got a chill down his spine. It was partly because he was hungry. Also because of something else, inside him. His jaw got tight. Then he smiled a little. It was not a smile. It was like he was already thinking about how stuff he could take for himself how much he could get away with. The greed was still talking to him saying take it take it all. He was listening to it the treasure, the greed, the treasure.
And then—
