Chapter 807: Chapter 807: Extra Story (Part 3)
How could Wang Tianxue let a guest wash dishes? But He JianShe said, "You’ve done all the cooking, it’s just washing two dishes. If you act this way, I feel like it’s too inappropriate for me to stay and eat this meal. Considering the relationship between you, my junior sister, and my father, we shouldn’t be so distant. Seems I overthought. I’m the one who..."
"No," Wang Tianxue hurriedly interrupted He JianShe.
She truly didn’t mean it that way.
She just felt that since He JianShe was her guest and helped her so much, asking him to wash dishes was quite inappropriate.
Moreover, Wang Tianxue was still quite traditional at her core.
When she used to live with Yang Rui, she would do all the housework.
In this era, it seems washing clothes and cooking and tidying up the house is a woman’s job.
He JianShe had already taken the dishes into the kitchen, and even through the door, Wang Tianxue could still see him.
The weather was nice today, the sun was pleasantly warm.
Earlier, when they were moving things into the house, He JianShe got so warm he took off his jacket.
Right now, he’s only wearing a military-green shirt.
The sleeves are rolled up above his forearms, revealing his well-defined forearms.
His skin is slightly dark but a healthy wheat color.
His originally stern-looking features, unexpectedly love to smile.
Wang Tianxue saw his two rows of big white teeth smiling at her again, and she could only return him a smile.
From the first time she met him, the impression He JianShe left on Wang Tianxue was that he loves to smile.
Every time he speaks, he always shows a friendly smile.
She sometimes wonders, with such a kindly demeanor, can the police commissioner manage his people?
If he doesn’t interact with criminals, how could he possibly interrogate them with such a friendly image? Probably wouldn’t get anything out of them.
Thinking of this scenario, Wang Tianxue couldn’t help but laugh.
"What are you laughing about?"
He JianShe asked as he wiped his hands and walked out, standing in front of her.
Wang Tianxue quickly reined in her smile, but seeing his expression, she couldn’t quite hold it in.
Suppressing her laughter, she said, "Nothing, I’m not laughing about anything."
Of course, He JianShe didn’t believe it, but he didn’t press further, just looked at her with amusement.
Wang Tianxue couldn’t hold it in any longer.
He JianShe guessed it was related to him, but he wasn’t offended and just watched her laugh.
Laughing, Wang Tianxue met his gaze, and finally blushed a deep red.
"Um... how about we go shopping and get everything ready? You’ve only rested for a day and it’s not easy; if you get everything prepared now, you’ll have dinner tonight."
Otherwise, would you have to go hungry?
As clever as Wang Tianxue is, she had not realized that even if home cooking was not possible, meals could still be bought outside.
Even for a police commissioner, how could he not have a meal?
With his hands behind his back, He JianShe followed her out the door.
Back to the department store; this time, to help He JianShe shop.
Wang Tianxue wasn’t sure of He JianShe’s preference. Although there weren’t many styles available in the market, there were some in different designs and sizes. Large men would probably prefer bigger bowls, right?
"Brother He, what kind of bowls and plates do you want? And this pot, is it for just you or should we go bigger? Maybe just get a slightly larger one, in case you have friends over or Old He visiting for a short stay, it should suffice."
In Wang Tianxue’s home, it was just her and Xiao Long, so her pots were on the smaller side.
He JianShe thought a moment and said, "Enough for three is fine. You pick whatever you think is good for the bowls. I don’t have much preference; the ones you picked this morning looked really nice."
Wang Tianxue: "..."
Her chosen bowls were all pink and red hues; she didn’t expect Brother He, a straightforward guy, to have such a girlish taste.
But Wang Tianxue didn’t take his words at face value. Knowing him for a while now, she understood He JianShe was kind and probably just being polite.
In the end, Wang Tianxue picked blue-themed bowls and plates for him, along with a bunch of other items.
However, there wasn’t a suitable small cabinet for storage, so He JianShe ordered an identical one from the owner, which he’d collect in a few days.
Although the items purchased weren’t as much as Wang Tianxue’s morning shopping, He JianShe didn’t say he didn’t need her help. Hence, she stayed to assist him with the delivery.
The police station arranged for He JianShe to stay in a recently constructed residential building for families, located on the third floor.
It’s a three-bedroom, one living room layout, noticeably bigger than Wang Tianxue’s room.
However, the furniture inside was clearly office-arranged, standard and conservative, making it seem like an elderly cadre’s home.
Oh, though He JianShe was not old, he indeed was a cadre.
"Your home is really big," Wang Tianxue sincerely praised.
With his usual smile, He JianShe said, "The unit allocated a standard room. It’s a waste for me alone. I told the organization I’d only need a single room dormitory, but they insisted that caring for colleagues’ personal lives is their responsibility. They said getting me a single now would require reapplying for a house when I start a family, so having one arranged now would avoid bothering the organization again."
"Your leaders are indeed understanding. I think they’re right; after all, Old He has been waiting for a grandchild, hasn’t he?"
That day, over dinner at Xiaxia’s house, Old He hadn’t missed the chance to tease Brother He about this, and Wang Tianxue had heard it all.
He JianShe just smiled and didn’t argue.
The items were placed in the kitchen, and He JianShe glanced at his watch and hesitantly started, "I’ve heard one shouldn’t eat alone for the first meal in a new house. I’m clumsy and don’t really know how to cook well, inviting too many would be overwhelming—Tianxue, would you mind joining me today to warm the kitchen?"
Wang Tianxue was about to decline, but hearing this, she didn’t know how to refuse.
Seeing the man’s honest and expectant look, she finally agreed, "Alright then, but I’ll need to pick up my son soon; he’s almost out of school."
He JianShe promptly smiled, "That’s great! I’ve heard it’s luckier to have a child help to warm the kitchen in a new house. I’m lucky to have invited the right people today. So, what time does he finish school? Let’s head out and grab some groceries."
"Sure, I know a nearby market where the produce is fresh and cheap."
Wang Tianxue could perceive that He JianShe truly lacked household skills, so she decided to help out.
They first went to the daycare to pick up Xiao Long.
Xiao Long was escorted out by the teacher and, upon seeing his mom, hopped over cheerfully.
When he saw the tall man beside Wang Tianxue, he curiously blinked his large, bright eyes at him.
Wang Tianxue introduced, "This is Uncle He, say hello."
Xiao Long called out crisply, "Uncle He."
He JianShe responded loudly and bent down to pick up the little one.
"Hey..."
Wang Tianxue wanted to say something, but He JianShe already turned around and walked out holding the child.
