Chapter 1466: Melissa Returning?
Chapter 1466: Melissa Returning?
5 days later.
The world had remained at peace the whole time. People were trying to figure out what was going on, but there was nothing they could find.
All people ceased their operations. Even the Ardagan family didn't do anything special. The only thing they did was maintain the defense line.
The same applied to the entire kingdom. For the royal family, they had a lot of things to do, but Wendy did everything mostly to let the kingdom recover. She hadn't taken any drastic action for the time being.
On the other hand, the northern lords were skeptical of Noel's letters. It was clearly stated that the enemies would be coming, but they didn't know when and where?
If they were the ones attacked, they would be unlucky. Instead of preparing, they chose to believe that others would be the ones who got hit.
As Dylan predicted, the northern lords had to experience it first before believing the threat, so Dylan didn't warn them. Instead, he focused on training his soldiers, preparing for the sudden attack.
He might be in the north, but his territory didn't have any borders with the demon territory. So, he had a hard time scouting the demon territory.
On the other hand, the nobles north of his territory didn't do anything. Ultimately, there was nothing he could do but wait for the attack to come.
The Demon Banner Army obviously had heard this information. As a result, they ceased their expeditions for a while.
Oscar wanted to focus on moving his soldiers around so that the Demon Banner Army could react to any attacks.
The east side had a similar result. Harley had done his best to monitor the east, but there was nothing they could find.
The east was completely frozen, especially after knowing that the Ardagan family clashed with the third prince's force in the east.
They were scared that the Ardagan family would use this as an excuse to start a territorial war with them.
At the same time, they were also restrained by the rumors that the third prince was allied with them. The third prince's status as a demonic human had been confirmed directly by Conrad, so people had no choice but to believe the man who was known as the most loyal to the kingdom.
Of course, this rumor was spread by Wendy. This was a small gesture for Wendy. Due to her being occupied with the restoration as well as the preparation of her coronation, she couldn't assist Noel directly.
The only thing she could do was stop the eastern lords from doing anything to him, which was enough for Noel. This way, he could shift all his focus to the north.
However, among all the reports he received, there was one that shocked him the most.
"My lord. We have a situation here." Laufey brought the report to him.
"Hmm?" Noel raised his eyebrows. He skimmed the letter, which caused him to frown. "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes. Before coming here, I saw Lady Melissa getting approached by two robed individuals. We couldn't confirm their identities, but I could feel their strength surpass mine. I'm afraid that both individuals are spirit transcendence.
"So, I asked for time to consult you regarding this matter."
Noel could see from the letter that Melissa stated she would be leaving. Due to the nature of the matter, Noel couldn't help but drop to the ground and rub his forehead, trying to figure out the situation.
It took him ten minutes before he suddenly gasped. "Ah!"
"!!!" Laufey didn't say anything the whole time. Every time Noel fell into a deep thought, he often figured out things or came up with a brilliant idea. If he failed, he usually would have thought a lot of things, which could be considered.
This time, there was nothing different. Noel's expression turned grim as he said, "It looks like the situation out there is not peaceful.
"I have told you about the Beast Kingdom, right?"
"Yes, my lord. You once told me about this beast kingdom with seven spirit transcendence experts."
"There's no reason for those people to recall Melissa unless something big happens. After all, even without Melissa, six spirit transcendences could solve a lot of things."
"Yes."
"Something big must have happened, but because they don't directly tell us about it, they must not have concrete proof. And Melissa might be the key to figuring out that proof.
"In the letter, she did say she would come back once the matter is settled. It looks like this is their plan…"
"Their plan?! Do you mean…" Laufey finally figured out where this was linked to.
"It looks like the third prince is going to attack the Beast Kingdom. However, this attack can be a distraction or a real attack depending on how we move.
"If Melissa doesn't return, they might attack the Beast Kingdom. Taking out two or three spirit transcendence experts alone will weaken the kingdom a lot. If Melissa returns, they will attack us.
"In the end, there are only three spirit transcendence experts left among us."
"Thne…" Laufey gasped. He didn't expect the situation to be this dire.
"We have no choice but to fall into their traps. If we stop Melissa, the Beast Kingdom will be angry at us and might refuse to cooperate in the big war."
Laufey nodded in agreement.
"In that case, I will give you six names: Phantom, Venom Overlord, Diva, Prophet, Gluttony, and Vampire. Ask them to give you their titles to pass on to me. If at least one of them holds one of those six names, let her return. If not, don't let her leave.
"Also, after confirming their identities, tell them these two things. First, solve the problem in their place on their way. The Ardagan family will handle the rest.
"Second, the enemy this time is extremely clever. There's even the wisdom of a demon king, so this battle is something they haven't seen so far. What's most concerning is not the demon king, but the new method that the demon king has devised or, more like, the Supreme Devil Organization has devised.
"That is the communication network they created by utilizing the plant-type demons. You are aware of this yourself, right, Uncle? I want them to pay attention to it, as this is a sign that the prince has worked together with the organization."
"Understood."
