Chapter 1481: Another Wave of Demons

Chapter 1481: Another Wave of Demons

"..." Both the supreme devil and the third prince’s faces instantly darkened the moment the possibility of failure was mentioned. They had prepared a lot of things for this attack, so they were confident Noel couldn’t do anything to turn around the situation.

However, what appeared before them was beyond anything they had seen.

The cannon was too dangerous. Even if they destroyed it, Noel could create such a thing one more time.

"Alexander was able to use runes in the past, but he wasn’t very adept at it... That was why the runes were reduced to low level spirit enchantments, which were given to the Greenwood Kingdom.

"However, this kind of rune is beyond anything I’ve seen so far..." Victor sucked a cold breath.

The supreme devil obviously knew how bad Alex was at utilizing runes. Yet, one thousand years later, there was one more person who was more capable than him.

Little did he know, Alex had been adept at runes from the beginning. After all, the two professions he chose were the Rune Swordsman and Commander professions, while Noel chose the Rune Swordsman and Noble professions.

Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate, not a lot of people were aware of how good Alex was. Even Noel was aware of it thanks to the rune array he used to seal his inheritance.

Nevertheless, Noel utilized runes much better than Alex. It was not just about personal skill but also how they utilized the concept itself. Alex only used it for himself, while Noel created a lot of inventions, including the battleship.

Although Noel didn’t have the benefit of the commander profession, Noel’s army might not be losing compared to the Ardagan family’s military one thousand years ago.

Still, it didn’t change the fact that the supreme devil and the third prince wanted to take down Noel no matter what before he could grow any further.

"Then what are we going to do? This is going to be much harder..." The supreme devil gritted his teeth.

"So, are you scared? If you are scared, then just hide in the corner. To avoid my kin being annihilated from this world, I will kill Noel Ardagan. But for now, injuring him is enough." Victor snorted.

"Who said I’m scared?" The supreme devil gritted his teeth.

"Then, let’s do it this way." Victor grinned, coming up with a new idea.

The supreme devil was quite stunned and didn’t think it would work, but this was the only way to increase their chance of success. In the end, the supreme devil chose to cooperate.

...

Noel, on the other hand, stood on top of the airship, observing the progress of the battlefield. Due to their battleships’ superiority, the demons had no choice but to rush and fill the area around the wall.

This way, Noel wouldn’t dare to kill them since it would also destroy the wall.

All the superior demons were charging forward, not wanting to die from that cannon as well.

Their reaction was precisely like what Noel was going to do if he faced such a powerful cannon.

Hence, Noel gave another command. "Have the battleships on standby above the city. Provide cover fire and focus on the flying demons for the time being.

"The rest of the soldiers will go down and hold the demons back. Cooperate together with the people on the wall.

"The 5th division captain to the 8th division captain will take the command of the north, east, west, and south walls respectively. The 3rd and 4th divisions will stand by!"

"Understood!" The six captains acknowledged the order. Four airships were descending near the walls as the soldiers tossed out nets so that they could climb down to the wall.

The soldiers controlled the battleship carefully and maintained their positions so that the soldiers could descend just fine. Though, a lot of soldiers simply jumped off the battleships because they were strong enough to withstand the impact of the fall.

Of course, the original soldiers in the city also heard Noel’s orders. They immediately handed over the command and let the elite divisions be in charge of their defense.

Even though the demons were swarming at their city, the soldiers weren’t afraid. They knew that as long as they followed Noel, victory would be assured. There was also a display of power earlier, making them believe it was possible.

Meanwhile, the other two battlefields remained in the middle of the city as Noel oversaw all walls personally.

Noel smiled. "What do you think, Rose, Tristan?"

"This is amazing." Rose shook her head helplessly. "The battleships are much more powerful than I expected. If the Demon Banner Army sees this, they will do anything they need to acquire the battleship. Just a single battleship can decimate an entire nest of demons.

"Although the cost of the cannon is also huge, as long as one is capable of fully charging that power, it won’t be a problem.

"Besides, demon crystals are not the only way. We can just use humans, who can recover their energy after some time. This way, there’s no need for a spirit grandmaster to be dispatched if they want to slay a superior demon.

"Can we spread the cannon to all the ships?" Rose asked.

"You have to ask..." Noel glanced at Tristan.

"Ah!" Rose realized that Noel had decided to leave it in Tristan’s hands.

"I haven’t mastered the advanced level runes, but after today, I’m going to work hard on them. I won’t disappoint you, Master." Tristan nodded. "Normally, the flying demons are going to be annoying because they simply can fly away whenever they want.

"But this time, our air force is superior. If we arrange it carefully, we can decimate all kinds of armies coming our way. This will revolutionize how a battle is fought."

Noel smiled, satisfied with their assessment. Unfortunately, it looked like he didn’t have any more time to spend with them.

"In that case, I will give you the full command of our army. Rose, you are to be his assistant."

"Are you going, Master?" Tristan was startled.

"Yeah." Noel pointed to the northwest. All of a sudden, another wave of demons emerged from the forest. This time, it was led by an ancient demon.

"A superior demon? No, it’s beyond that." Rose widened her eyes.

More importantly, there were actually two sword waves expanding in the air and meeting each other, creating an X-shaped sword strike.

"Take care of the ancient demon for me. I have to take care of a much bigger threat." Noel finally leaped into the air, heading straight for the X-shaped sword strike.
