Chapter 1560: Rune Meister
Chapter 1560: Rune Meister
"Tristan!"
Sandra's voice echoed inside the dark room, which was lit up by only a single candle, the candle on Tristan's working table.
Sandra tilted her head. It was rare for Tristan to ignore her. In addition, she had brought his lunch.
"Tristan?!"
Tristan continued working on something on his desk, as if he had never heard her.
Sandra was confused. With just a little peek, she knew Tristan was working on a rune card. It was a rune card she had never seen before.
"..." She stayed quiet before moving to the side, just watching him working after putting the tray in the empty space.
The rune card was almost filled, so she thought Tristan would soon notice her and he could eat. If not, she would just go back and do other things.
As she expected, Tristan suddenly leaped up while pumping his fist. "I've done it. I've done it!"
He was so happy that he paraded the rune card around before noticing Sandra, who had been waiting for him.
"S-Sandra?!" Tristan lost the grip of his card. Sandra, on the other hand, reacted to his clumsiness and caught the card for him. "W-What are you doing here?"
"Lunch." Sandra pointed to the food.
"Ah! Wait…" Tristan felt a little bad, but he soon shook his head and said, "I can eat lunch later. Look at this, I have finished the rune card."
"A new rune card?"
"Not necessarily new, but it is definitely the first of its kind." Tristan grinned. He grabbed three other cards before reaching out for her wrist with another hand. "Let's go. Outside the town. We have to test this right away!"
Sandra was flustered, but she soon stomped on the ground. Although Tristan was more talented than her in runes, she had been training under Dimitri and focused on getting stronger and more adept as a maid, so she was physically stronger than him.
She stopped him, which shocked Tristan.
"Sandra…?" Tristan's face gradually turned pale. When he turned around, he could see her smiling face, which looked more terrifying than comforting.
"I'm not going to let you skip lunch. Even if you don't want to, at least grab the bread and eat it on the way. If not…"
Sandra didn't finish her words, which made it even more terrifying.
Tristan gulped down and quietly grabbed the bread and put it in his mouth. Only then did Sandra stop resisting as Tristan pulled her outside.
The two were heading straight to the wall that was half completed.
"Sir?" The soldiers, who were patrolling the wall, were confused. Why would the new lord come all the way here?
Although Tristan was known as Noel's disciple, his contribution or works weren't too well-known, so they were a bit skeptical about this new lord.
However, Tristan didn't care. He just had to do what he had planned to do.
Tristan grabbed a total of four cards at once, sliding them to the gap of his fingers.
"Look at this." Tristan just smiled and tossed the cards at the same time. The card activation was different than usual.
Normally, a rune card would turn and make an angle that was intended by the user. But this time, the cards simply hovered in the air, pointing forward. The four cards, two up and two down, had the same distance to each other.
Then, Tristan waved his finger down. "Combine!"
The four rune cards suddenly moved to the center and joined each other like a puzzle, creating a bigger card.
The runes on each card were then activated, forming an even bigger rune. And this rune was beyond what Noel had done previously.
The rune shot out a powerful beam that incinerated everything in its path. For those who had seen the main battleship, they would remember the cannon that could kill an ancient demon.
Even Sandra had to move forward, spreading her spiritual energy to block the shock wave produced by the rune card.
Still, she couldn't contain her shock when Tristan had just used something much stronger than he was capable of.
"What is that?" Sandra gasped.
"That is… Executioner Rune!" Tristan smirked.
"Executioner Rune? I'm not really that well-versed in the runes, but I recall that's the name for an advanced rune, right?"
"Yes!"
"!!!" Sandra widened her eyes in shock. "But…"
"I know. Master hasn't managed to do it, but that's probably because he is too busy to do a lot of other things. Meanwhile, I have some time to push this project. Behold, this is an Advanced Level Rune Card.
"A single rune card will probably not be enough to create an advanced level rune, because there is simply not enough space. The only way to do it is to make even finer details, which is limited with the current technology.
"So, I create a new way, which is to create several rune cards. I have made a bit of adjustment to the runes so that they will combine and still function even though they are made from four parts.
"It's not easy, but I have managed to do it." He smirked.
Tristan made it sound easy, but not everybody could do it. To make a rune card, one needed to shrink the rune to the size of the card.
An advanced rune was at least 10 times more complex than the mid level rune. In other words, Tristan had to shrink the size of that complex rune to the size of four rune cards.
In addition, he had to combine them and even modified them a little so that they could combine.
Even if Noel could do it, Tristan would probably do it faster. That was because the biggest difference with this method was his extraordinary memory. If a single connection was wrong, the rune wouldn't activate after all.
Tristan had done the impossible. It was no wonder he was so happy.
If they had this kind of rune in their possession, it would be the same as having a strategic weapon that could be carried around.
Sandra was stunned. It looked like the student was gradually surpassing his teacher.
At the same time, she was happy. Tristan had been so fixated on runes that she was probably the one running the city while he only gave a few instructions.
Nevertheless, this was Rune Meister, Tristan Clestine.
